Kakarot I have to correct your statement in 11:02, they're actually 2 Gundam F89 unit produced, and each of them had it's own color distinction the one is the normal gundam color scheme and escort the F90 test missions (F90FF Vol 2-4), and the unit 2 had the regular test color scheme, and it managed to find it's new master and modified as the mobile suit we know....the Anchor V1-4 from crossbone dust.

If you're including model numbers/names from Build Fighters/Divers then that'll probably need it's own video. Every builder has their own naming scheme and most involve wordplay/puns. One example being KUMA-03 Beargguy-III, with the word San being interchangeable with both "Three" and "Mr."

UC originally didn't have model numbers they were made up later when the films came out by Bandai for the model kits I believe the MSV and MSX models are what pushed them in to use before Zeta since all the new sub models needed separate codes and aircraft style letter codes worked. There used on other equipment like tanks but UC used Aircraft style model code structures. With the first set of letters before the dash being the model series middle number the model number a letter added for a sub model, a third dash and number if the unit is a prototype and it's a different revision of the unit. LM used US tank style model codes.

The Y in the YMS prefix is actually easy, since it has real world usage. When the US Air Force goes through its design process, planes in the early prototype phase get the X prefix. Final competition designs get the Y prefix. From what I see, the usage here is the same. The Y prefix probably denotes a complete prototype that has finished its design and testing, yet hasn't been slated for mass production.

One idea about why Zudah is designated as EMS rather than YMS is because YMS models are made by Zeonic while Zudah are made by Zimad. Two different company that at the time competes for the bid to mass produce zeon mainline MS. With the competition was between Zaku I and EMS-04 the OG Zudah. And since Zeonic won the bid due to Zuda's "fireworks" making the YMS Naming for Experimental units being used all the time since from there on Zimad is out of the picture until EMS-10 Zudah Rebranding comes around

You mentioned the use of Y as a model number prefix, that could simply be the writers using existing real life model prefix designations. @Kakarot197 To comment about the SD-VB03A, it would stand for Support Device - Victory Base 03 Assault. Since this device is used as an attachment which attachments are support devices but if you want a second name for the SD classification could be Secondary Device, but I am sticking with my first classification as it makes more sense. Much like a gun, an attachment like a scope, extendable mag, and many others are meant to support our soldier's capabilities. Whether it is to shoot from a longer distance to lasting longer in a fight without needing to reload.

I figured the N on the F90N stood for "Newtype" and added psycoframe and remote weaponry. Narrative showed that psycommu tech was outlawed/taboo after the Unicorns stopped Gryps II and the psyco shard from the Neo Zeong. pretty sure the SD in the V-Dash model number stands for Support Dasher because it was made to improve the Victory Gundam against BESPA ever-increasing new models of mobile suits. Also doesn't help that it's classified when in that form as a Heavy Assault mobile suit which considering the armaments the Overhang pack gives, it wouldn't be surprising if it was giving out support fire and dashing away.

If I had to hazard a guess the League Militaire's thruster count is either an engine/drive count, or, as you said, a cluster count. The 'cluster' being whatever a computer would group together. So the back thrusters were operated in unison, and the leg thrusters would also be operated in unison (which makes 0 sense for controlling a giant robot, but neither do giant robots, so fair enough I guess)

@ryuuohdeltaplus79363 жыл бұрын
My guess for the Consent naming scheme is that the second letters mean Corps (for the C, as they are the suits used by regular soldiers) and Arsenal (for the A because the MW and MS Rai are heavily-armed mechs), and the fourth letters mean Stationed (for mechs that's manned with a human pilot) and Weapon (for the unmanned mechs).

The GM, Guncannon, and Guntank all had the monoeye or single main camera because it was easier to aim the mobile suits weapons. Both Amero and Sayla point this out in the original series it is even brought up in the novelized One Year war that the Gundam's weapons were tough to aim with at first. The reason the Gundam units had two eyes was it gave them more human features to ease members of the public.

Not sure if this has been said before in the prior video, but given the idea of the EFF using the US army Fiscal year for things like the GM cannon. It may be possible different branches of the federation (Army, airforce, navy etc.) Used different numbers and such to designate their suits completely independant of numbers used by their counterparts. For example the Air forces F4, F100, F104, and so on, then we have the navy with its A4, F8, A7, F9, F3 etc. Things later on like the RMS designation may have been an attempt by higher ups trying to make things far easier to understand and unify some conventions.

Gustav Karl as a PURPOSE designed Escort and Protection unit, the design makes relative sense The bulkier size is meant to have it serve as a visual and physical blockade, so beam weapons or guided munitions wouldn't have an easy time sniping a vehicle it's escorting or giving cover for. The extra chonk also means it can have heavier armor to allow it to offer cover in case VIP needs to be moved away but the MS itself is not able to open fire (such as a terrorist strike in Urban areas during an event with too many high profile figures), EFF wouldn't risk MS size Beam weapons nor "Machineguns" be fired if it risks killing VIPs due to collateral damage from the size of the bullets/beams, so a chonkier feet and torso enables it to offer Heavy MS armor protection instead

The RGM/RMS split be a similar practice in the Federation to the US Military when it came to designating their aircraft. Where the Air Force had one way and the Navy had another. An example would be the F-4 Phantom II, before 1962 (when they switched to a new multiservice designation system) the Air Force called it the F-110 while the Navy called it the F4H. Which would also explain GM II having both the RGM-79R and RMS-179 designation. RMS-179 being for Mobile Suits used by the Titans and RGM-79R by the standard Federation Forces.

R means Renpo. Which is Japanese for Federation. GM means Gundam Mass Production. During the OYW and before Z Gundam the number after Federation MS means the year it came out. The third digit of the LM series mobile suits more likely refers to the number of main propulsion rocket engines. It's a common misconception to equate the number of rocket nozzles/combustion cambers to the number of rocket motors. For example, the construction the real life RD-170 rocket engine uses four combustion cambers but they all share a single turbopump. Thus LM111E02 uses a single engine on it's back and the LM312V04 uses an engine on it back and another on the back skirt. Also, your use of the term thruster is a bit misleading as it also could refer to elements of a reaction control system; however, I'll chalk this use to the translator not being that familiar with English rocket science terminology.

I have a question, we know the RX and the number mean, like RX-93 v Gundam aka Nu Gundam, base on your explanation before , it means federation experimental unit built in U.C.0093, and it match, so my question is, what about Unicorn? the model for Unicorn is RX-0, or RX-9 Narrative Gundam which is the prototype unit of Nu Gundam and basically an armorless Nu Gundam? what is the number mean?
@danielludwig6473 жыл бұрын
Unicorn is a classified unit that was left in the care of the Vist Foundation, so I’m guessing that RX-0 was just a way of excluding it from the official list of prototype machines. The Unicorn and Banshee seem to mainly be deployed at the behest of the secret society members of the Vist family, so they have no reason to bother operating within official Federation number schemes. They aren’t part of the normal military. If the three RX-0 machines were ever intended to be offically adopted by the EFSF, I guess they’d technically be redesignated as RX-95, which matches the year they were completed. As for the Narrative, the RX-9 is probably just a result of them lopping the “3” off the end of the planned Nu Gundam model number, to distinguish the two. Narrative was never intended to be anything more than an unfinished test machine to help develop the Nu, so they gave it a similar but abbreviated model number. Its not like it was ever going to be made part of the official sequence of units, so RX-9 just seems to be a handy nickname or placeholder.

There was another outlier you didn't explain in part- the "0" in RX-0. The "RX" makes perfect sense, but the "0" doesn't follow the standard year based numbering of other RX units, as it didn't start development until after the events of CCA (UC 0093), and it can't have been the location based numbering of the titans era because the RX-0 didn't start development until years after the fall of the titans and the abolishment of the location based numbering system. See I agree on the Zudah but a little part of me loves to joke that EMS-04/EMS-10 stands for Explosive Mobile Suit. Though maybe it was intended to be Elite Mobile Suit. On the Victory Gundam and thruster counts. It might be talking about a Thruster core. Depending on the type of thruster you can have multiple exhaust cones running off a single core. Which brings up the question of what type of thruster the Zudah used... Cause if it was a Thermonuclear or a similar design then it actually would cool off the thruster and run the risk of freezing out the heating core unless it ran out of propellant and thus its primary coolant.
