As a man I have always wondered whether my ex wife loved me during our marriage. Whether or not I was good enough or whatever I would do for her was good enough. I loved to work, cook, help in the house and take care of the outside all by myself. Helped with our kids as well. I wasn’t always perfect and struggled with porn off and on. I don’t struggle with porn now and had to combat it on my own with God. That was such a struggling time in my life. Even after the divorce I have not even touched a woman. My ex wife is the only woman who I have touched.

I know this comment is old, but speaking from a guy's perspective he probably just doesn't know how to take a compliment. That does not mean he doesn't appreciate it, that's just his way of saying you're welcome.

My mate does NOT like to hear words of appreciation. He looks very uncomfortable and quickly exits the conversation.

Maybe he just doesn't know how to respond, possibly because he's not used to hearing words of appreciation.

@@GodSoLoved.Yeshua Perhaps, an inability to respond is a block for him. He is very articulate with an extensive vocabulary. He does not seem to have a receiving love language of any kind. But has several giving love languages. He likes to do acts of service but doesn't want it to be noticed. He really hates anyone doing anything for him and almost never asks for anyone to do anything for him. He prefers to do it himself or it doesn't get done. He works alone and won't hire anyone to help. He likes giving words of affirmation he is most complimentary, but is repelled by anyone giving him such words. He is quick to give backrubs and non-sexual touch but can't stand to be touched in return. He does give lots of hugs but I think he sees hugs as something he is giving but not something he is receiving. I think he might just be selfish. Neither of us are gift givers. He doesn't want gifts and says if he needs something he will buy it himself. He isn't good at quality time either. He has use great concentration to do so.
