Improperly displaying your anger will destroy you and any values you were trying to convey no matter how right they may be. My wife believes flirting is only for new couples. Sex is not an important part of marriage. The family of origin is more important than the new family unit after marriage. We are here to make our kids happy and the marriage is set aside until they move out. Her father is and always will be the number one man and his opinions for our life trump anything I bring to the table (he's been divorced three times and canceled a wedding just days before). I can't teach my children the importance of organization and structure, responsibilities and chores to teach healthy working habits and I could go on. They let me know all the time that there's more important things to focus on or I need to choose my battles (aka. We say you can't choose that battle). My father in law is constantly trying to compete with me as the number one spot in our life. The number of hours and money spent in marriage and family counseling and seminars and sermons that tell us how we are supposed to be only to have them trash it all. My wife's father moved out when she was young and they are now trying to make up for lost time. I know I have probably left this comment full of holes like Swiss cheese, but I have 14 years of marriage and counseling to convey in this short writing. I could go on about the problems that have turned our family and marriage upside down, but the point of this was only to show how dysfunctional it is. The second, and main point I am trying to convey is that no matter how crazy the things are that have angered me, the way I expressed my anger has overshadowed all of the problems and attacks against myself and the sanctity of my marriage and family. The book of Proverbs has clearly spelled out how my angry words and short temper has made me a fool and now even in the face of all the other problems, I have been learning to express my anger much differently. Although the damage has been done, the healing has already begun. Through God's word and his guidance, I have become a much different person in the way that I handle these problems. Learn to express your anger properly or you Will destroy yourself while trying to save yourself

Frequent out of control anger is a big danger sign. That's very different from those rare outbursts owing to a ongoing, hard situation that isn't getting better. But that's where mercy comes in.

I would like to say it only enraged my spouse when I recorded them, and then his family said that I intentionally got him riled up to record him, after he told them what I did. It totally backfired on me.

I did this recording of my wife flipping out and she rather than understand how she comes off, she became paranoid thinking I'm going to expose the tape and building some case against her.

What's the difference between frustration and anger? I raise my voice when I am frustrated because I feel like my words are not being heard and when I am really angry my voice goes much louder than being frustrated.

I raise my voice when my wife and talk and she thinks it's yelling. To me it's not. How do we resolve this. The last conversation we had was over her helping me clean out the garage becuase I just had major back operation. I will not be able to lift more than 10lbs. For a long time. I was like, we need to be a team we need to be on the same team and help one another.
