My Dad was a headmaster and when he passed away my mum got a whole load of letters from ex pupils of his saying what a difference he had made to their lives his believing in them. I think praise where praise is due may be difficult to take but that and encouragement always stimulate people to do the best they can and they make for a much better working environment. Thanks for a very stimulating talk, Chris. Really!!

Thank you Chris for this brilliant talk. I was one of those non-believers in acknowledgment and recognition, but now I know how powerful it is in building trust in both personal and professional relationships. Thank you once again :)

Thank you everyone for the amazing comments! What I have found is that no one needs recognition, but life is just a whole lot better when it is there! When people feel recognized(this is not just verbal recognition but also autonomy at work, new responsibilities, creative license on a project, etc.) they feel valued...when people feel valued they tend to value those who value them.

I'm a workaholic, programmed to evaluate myself based on everyday's work. But COVID19 lockdowns mean no work and sadly no peers. Being forced to evaluate this mysterious soup of self-value, peer recognition & acknowledgement and even love is hard. Thanks for your wonderful insights and clear talk.

I'm giving you RECOGNITION. Get talk with an important message that narcissists - especially in my home town of LA - need to hear! It's weird how I am SO recognized in my career, yet the ONE recognition I need to hear is, "You are so thin!"
