My people, welcome to Santo Domingo!!!! I have been living in Santo Domingo for a month now and I've been somewhat surprised at the cost of living in the Dominica Republic's captial. So what I'm wondering today is, what can $50 get you in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic?Santo Domingo is a dope city, but it ain't the cheapest!!! The Biggest problem i always see with youtubers that do these challenges is that they do it in the wrong places. Not to be negative bro, but i can't name a city where tourist attractions usually will match the local price. with that $30 you spent you could buy like 3-4 "Pica pollos" in DR which would feed a whole family lol. a traditional plate with everything from salad to dessert in DR will run you less than $1k pesos for sure, i'm Dominican and theres no way in hell i would eat in zona colonial that shrimp bs was a straight up rip-off!!! lol. The funny thing is most of those restaurants are not even owned by Dominicans which means you can't really get genuine Dominican anything unless you go to the barrio. The only Dominican authentic thing in Zona colonial is undoubtedly is the "tobacco/cigar".

Good content bro. Actually the 18% tax is the general tax in the DR, so almost everything you buy here will have it. There's an extra 10% tax for services in bars and restaurants that serves as the tip and is distributed every day between the service workers and staff. You have to be careful because it is not mandatory for them to include it in the offered price, but they do have to specify it in the menu as "Tax not included"

I was in Santiago....let me tell you ppl even you Dominicans who say it’s cheap to live. If you have an empty tank of gasolina-$50 will not fill an equinox up. I know I saw over 3400 in pesos which is more than $50 and I had a qtr tank left. If I lived there-a motorcycle is a must have. I went to the grocery store. Fruit veggies water like 4 bags worth more than 2700 pesos. The woman I support was not lying to me. American has influenced the prices.
