I take my Mercedes E320 Bluetec on a 680 mile road trip to test the fuel economy and reliability post repairs. After the road trip I got a hand calculated 32.7 mpg over 687 miles. #diesel #mercedes #roadtrip #bluetech #tuned

I just saw that your coolant temp is too low. It should be around 85 Celsius. Try to diagnose what the reason for that is before throwing parts at it.

It’s the MAF and a Thermostat that is misbehaving accordingly, I appreciate the observation and am tracking the problem, getting into the car again this week!

What do you think of the bluetec looking at a couple high mileage ones. One with 200k for 4.5k has my attention. Currently have a 1997 E300D and I'm reluctant to upgrade to a newer bluetec as I get 32-33mpg and it only has 176k. Did your mpg improve once the issues were fixed?

Your temperature is too low. It should ideally be around 80 c on the gauge actually a little higher. The engine is running too cold. You need to change your thermostat. I have a 2006 e320 cdi and had the same issue. When I changed the thermostat, efficiency went up around 15%. Nce car.

Good to know! It was also decently cold out when I drove it! I’ll be driving it here again soon and will verify! I appreciate the tip, I’d love an 06 CDI, I just got the Bluetec because it was impossibly cheap

Wonder what happens if you run it dry now that the fuel gauge isn’t working quite right
