“I should have joy in Christ. Why am I feeling this way?” In this video, Kathryn Butler, physician and author of What Does Depression Mean for My Faith?, speaks to some of the misconceptions about clinical depression, which can be especially challenging for those of us who are followers of Christ.
Kathryn Butler was trained in surgery and critical care at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she then joined the faculty. She left clinical practice in 2016 to homeschool her children, and now writes regularly for desiringGod.org and the Gospel Coalition on topics such as faith, medicine, and shepherding kids in the gospel.

Wow. Elijah had just demonstrated, in fearlessness, the power of God, and had, in God's power shamed and struck down the false prophets of the wicked woman Jezebel and Ahab her husband, the king, whom God later destroyed -- even descendants, and those who claimed friendship with their clan. These openly betrayed God and led people astray. This example you use has nothing to do with depression. Elijah was battle weary and afflicted and needed God's comfort and strength which he very wisely *sought from God.* Those who do not serve the Lord in joyfulness and gladness of heart God will curse -- it's in the Word; you can see it for yourself -- go to Deut 28. Take it to heart, God is so not kidding. You as well need to go to God directly for your needs to be met. Cursed are those who trust in man and make flesh their strength. But blessed are those who trust in the Lord. (from Jer 17) Remember also the words of Jesus: 28Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” Matt 11 God does not send people to drugs. Since Jesus, God does not send people to other people, God now says, come to ME. (meaning God) *Depression is a spiritual condition; there is nothing clinical about it;* seek the Lord. I hope this helps you. TAKE IT TO THE LORD.
