We have some newborn in the stable. Richtsje and a couple of other horses have fungal/ringworm. We have to treat that with Imaverol. After riding the horses do get some pellets. Barney is lazy! Rins Richtsje.

In another life, (about 20 years ago) I had Missouri Foxtrotters. I fed them both loose hay and pellets. One day I actually ate a pellet to see what the excitement was about. Turns out I was not nearly as impressed by them as the horses were. 😜

I never thought about all of the things you have to watch out for in horses until Yvonne has shown us. Here, it's the fungal (Ringworm) that can spread throughout the herd so quickly. Then, there's Mud Fever to worry about. When the Mares have delivered their foals, there can be complications if the afterbirth does not come out on it's own. Then, you have to keep an eye on the Mare's mane, since foals will sometimes chew it off. During weaning, it's inflammation in the udders that you have to watch out for. Then, there's dental problems, like "wolf teeth". She has even showed us shoeing problems where a part of the horseshoe digs into the hoof. Finally, there are "horse fights" and wounds to be treated. Wow! When Yvonne's description of the videos says that they are educational, she's not joking! 🐎🐎

BARNEY looks absolutely in his spot. He answered you, too 🥰 All your animals are happy and calm❣We had a Tom, forever. He had no nose, a huge healed scab took its' place. He was one tough guy. IODINE takes care of that on humans. I had it, also. The Iodine outlines the worm under the skin - you can see it. Ya, definitely something you don't want!

I love how they look at the ground to see whether some pellets have sprouted there? Somehow, Johnny has gathered almost ALL of the hay in the barn to himself. Good chick magnet, I guess! Oh dear, that ringworm looks sad. My best friend had it when I was about 7 years old. Never forgotten it. Barney so happy and warm in the hay! How ever do the parent swallows remember which one they have fed and which one they have not fed? Those baby birds are like Queen Uniek: always hungry!

Agreed. A thorough scrub with a stringent soap, or a mild bleach/strong vinegar solution will kill it so it doesn't spread to the next thing one touches. @@alliechampagne1404 We had 250 - 300 head of Holsteins, dairy cows on 670 acres. I can honestly say, in 21 years, we never had those in the barn. This goes back to 1957, when I was born, up until I was 21 and moved to the city. I'm not saying I haven't seen things, but if we had 'em on the cows, nobody ever told me. Maybe because the cows were out in pasture every day, excepting for the Catskill Mountain winters - I don't know. John Ullmann Yes this is true however English is not her or the rest of the team’s first language and when she puts the videos together,Yvonne uses google translate. It sometimes results in a different way of phrasing everything but that’s ok because we understand the point being made. I actually really like the way it comes out it’s interesting & makes things different and unique to the channel. They are known fo their “Dunglish” slang as Linda puts it makes things fun and humorous.😄😊

What causes the fungal infection and how does it spread? My late mother used to tell us children that we would get ringworm by playing in the dirt and not washing up....Don't know if that's true or not; just the name of it scared me! I thought we would have worms crawling on us!😲☠

How do the birds get to feed the chicks when the barn door is closed at night. Do the chicks get stuck on their own until doors are open again. Also, it will be tough for those chicks to make it out of the nest to fly with Mr Barney on duty

Clove, Oregano, and Peppermint oil are all anti-fungal. Take a tiny bit and dab on the affected area and leave exposed to the air. If you have (or suspect you have) sensitive skin, put down a carrier oil first. Coconut is what most people prefer, but whatever you have in your kitchen will work in a pinch. I'd recommend olive oil as an absolute last resort, as it's a little too thick. Before treating, test on the back of your hand/wrist. Essential oils should never leave a rash or burn your skin. If this happens, scrub the spot thoroughly with dish soap and apply an anti-inflammatory cream (whatever you've got in your first aid kit should work just fine). I get my oils from here: www.lorannoils.com/essential-oils-1-oz-and-larger-sizes I tried finding the 1/3 oz sizes, but apparently they only carry peppermint in that size. Both Clove and Origanum (their name for Oregano) are only sold in 1+ oz. They test every batch for quality, and it's approved for therapeutic use. If you prefer to find your oils somewhere else, avoid anything labeled for Aromatherapy. The quality scale is different, and they cannot be used for topical application. Good luck, and I hope this helps! :)

If you're in the U.S., try Tinactin, a cream you can get at any drugstore (or online, I'm sure), over the counter. It treats ringworm and also athlete's foot, which is another fungus. I had it many years ago, and when I was occasionally afraid afterwards that it was returning, I used the Tinactin and it cleared it up before it got bad.

EQYSS “Microtek Shampoo” and “Microtek Spray” is an anti-bacterial, ant-fungal. anti-viral treatment created by NASA for astronauts who come back from months in space. Humans and animals can use it and it has no harmful chemicals in it. I used it in my pet styling business for 10 years; I am retired now. I swear by this line and have seen the healing results.
