The fact that Islam allowed slaves in the first place is not a virtue. Doesn't matter that it is 'good' to free them, by the way which was a suggestion but not a commandment and no condemnation was on those who kept slaves. The fact that Muhammad allowed someone to be 'bought' 'sold' and 'owned' without 'equal' rights to those of a free person is enough said. And aren't you guys cute? Leaving out the more darker hadiths where women were raped the same day their husbands were executed in the Arab wars. Regardless of what Islam does or doesn't say-Muslims historically treated slaves as badly as everyone else did. As for your argument that some slaves stayed with their masters after freedom-the same applies to freed slaves in many societies. They just had good masters.

I know hence I brought up the rape. But it was too sugar coated for me when they made the comment that some slaves stayed with their masters.

When conquering a city It is better for a female citizen to be a *sex-slave/slave* of a muslim soldier than live freely with her family in the same city? _The most merciful_ Allah ordain the most evil laws.

@@Jennawxyz221 there are rare cases of slaves that stayed with the free but those were some people who were against owning slaves but recieved concubines as gifts from caliphes or wali(regional leader 2nd only to caliph) who would react violently if slaves were freed by the receiver cuz they see it as rejecting the gift & end up killing them. so they let them live in their household just so no one gets hurt.

They are talking about the history of Islamic slavery. They posted another video talking about the theological aspect of slavery, where they mention the concubines. The whole sex slavery thing is one of my pet peeves with Islam, too, and I fully support what you are saying!

Remember the message of Islam was there from the beginning of time. So if you find rules regarding slavery from thousands of years before the time of Muhammad being similar to the rules of slavery that Muhammad implemented this should not surprise you. Prophets and Messengers Were Sent Everywhere At any given snap shot point of time from Adam till today the truth is always protected by God such that a truth seeker will always be able to find it and get guidance. This means a truth-seeker located in any part of the world will find guidance at any point in history (50:16. 10:25, 15:9) Quran 10:47 “And every nation had a messenger; so when their messenger came, the matter was decided between them with justice and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.” Quran 14:4 “And We have sent NO Messenger save with the tongue of his people, that he might make all clear to them; then God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.”. Allah sent Messengers to every nation and He stated that they came one after another, as He says: Quran 23:44 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. Quran 35:24 “Verily! We have sent you with the truth, a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner. And there never was a nation but a warner had passed among them” Allah has named some of those Messengers and told us the stories of some of them, but not of many others. Allah, may He be exalted, says: Quran 4:163-164 “Verily, We have inspired you (O Muhammad SAW) as We inspired Nooh (Noah) and the Prophets after him; We (also) inspired Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Yaqoob (Jacob), and Al-Asbat (the twelve sons of Yaqoob (Jacob)), Iesa (Jesus), Ayub (Job), Yoonus (Jonah), Haroon (Aaron), and Sulaiman (Solomon), and to Dawood (David) We gave the Zaboor (Psalms). And Messengers We have mentioned to you before, and Messengers We have not mentioned to you, - and to Moosa (Moses) Allah spoke directly” Quran 40:78 “And certainly We sent messengers before you: there are some of them that We have mentioned to you and there are others whom We have not mentioned to you” Allah reinforces this concept when he addresses Muhammad Quran13:7 You are only a warner (Muhammad) , and for every people is a guide. why-sunnis-convert-to-shia.com/difference-between-prophet-messenger/

awt BB yes Al Razi the philosopher and critic of religion . Yes by watching it you could tell that they were trying to tackle the rebuttals they get from Muslim apologists who try to sanitise Islamic slavery and justify it. which would indiciate they arent Muslims or at the very least not orthodox Muslims if they are criticising a teaching in the Quran and Hadith. Also thank to the internet a quick google search of Imtiaz and Nourhan will show that they are ex Muslim atheists. heck even a youtube search will reveal that. Imtiaz has his Faith to Faithless channel that Nourhan has appeared on. This isnt a secret covered up by the CIA or KGB.

Excellently presented and very interesting both parts 1 and 2. It was Roman custom to free slaves at the age of 30 and it was a virtue in Zoroastrianism to free a slave.

What the user 'Dai Crystal' below is trying to say, in a sinisterly coded way, is "Damn, these guys will make people think critically about their faith, and purely because they are ex-Muslim I think this will turn people godless rather than understand their faith more deeply. Shit, this is a disaster for the onward march of my didactic Gulf-influenced dawah. But these guys are outwardly reasonable too, so how can I take them down without looking like a prick?" People like this are literally from the paranoid authoritarian school of argumentation and are the reason why the curtains came down on the Islamic Golden Age. It is also very reminiscent of the sort of passive-aggressive just-sayin-but-vaguely-threatening we-know-best 'caution' that I am, coming from an Asian background, familiar with within kinship groups. You also see this sort of language beneath videos of Muslim women doing critiques of hijaab. Moreover I am fairly sure (although he would deny this) that he would use completely different language were the creators of the video full-blooded orthodox dawah-type presenters, a double standard which is quite frankly an analog to racist mentalities that give, for example, a white guy a pass in an ambiguous situation where a black man is doing exactly the same thing. Quite honestly it's due to mentalities like that that the creators here wouldn't enthusiastically admit their personal identities, because so many of those whom this video would usefully benefit would, like Dai Crystal, switch off up-front having judged the book by its cover (and perhaps even threatened them while they were at it). Which goes to show they don't really care about the substance of history and theology - the only thing that matters is who's saying it; i.e. the type of person who treats religion not as is, but as politics.

Interesting videos. I think you are right that Islam was not uniquely bad when it came to slavery but quite standard for an ancient legal code. I would probably more emphasize the horrors of Islamic slavery in practice. Eg, the sex slavery amounts to rape on a massive scale. And the male apologists for Islamic slavery would surely not appreciate being castrated (without anesthetics and with a large risk of dying) in order to work as eunuchs. As for your last comments on wage slavery, I don't agree at all. Of course wages will be lower in poor countries. It is sad that they are poor but the sweatshops are emphatically not part of the problem, they are part of the solution.

Talking about Ashoka!! He himself married a Slave girl: Samrat Ashoka had 5 wives. Devi Kaurwaki Rani Padmavati Asandhimitra After Samrat Ashoka’s chief consort Asandhimitra died in 240 BC, her favorite maid Tishyaraksha took care of Ashoka. It is said that she attracted Ashoka by her charm, dance, and beauty. It is believed that Ashoka made her his CONCUBINE and even promoted Tishyaraksha to the position of Chief Queen. The age difference between Tishyaraksha and Samrat Ashoka was huge. It is believed that Tishyaraksha was attracted to Ashoka’s son Kunala - the presumed heir to the Magadha throne. However, Kuala regarded her as his mother due to her position in the Kingdom that time. Tishyaraksha couldn’t accept this rejection and this is the reason why she blinded Kunala whose eyes attracted Tishyaraksha, the most.

freeing slaves happened before islam. muslims themselves ironically tell a story of how abu lahab (who's the prophet's uncle who didn't believe in islam & there is a surah that insulsts him & his wife) freed the concubine who told him that his deceased brother's wife gave birth to muhammad.

Nice vid. Maybe worth mentioning that the transatlantic slave trade was to make them work, and they were allowed to have children... whereas the Islamic trade trade (which still exists today) exported women in huge numbers (sex slaves) back then, with many male slaves being castrated (many of who died from this injury).

Garment workers in Bangladesh were kind of captives of their employers when they are on duty. After several fires and a building collapse, it's changing for good and workers have much better work environment and salary now. These jobs are very flexible btw. You can leave your job at any time and join another factory because factories need more and more workers. Bangladesh still has one of the worst environment and facilities for workers. That being said, comparing wage workers to slaves is the funniest stupidest shamelessly dishonest thing to do. Foreign workers in Middle Eastern countries though, they are living a very slave-like life.
