Loved this song back in the day , along with their other hit “Lump” Fun fact , the lead singer went on to make children’s music under the name Caspar Baby Pants. I highly recommend my favourite song “Stompy the Bear” ... Lol 😛

I moved out of Seattle area about 20 years ago. I went back and this band played at Bumbershoot ! A Seattle party for Seattleites. free concerts! I hope they still play.

According to Wikipedia, the song is apparently a combination of two events experienced by the singer. The first is that the singer was crushing on a woman, and went to her house to see her, on LSD. Nobody answered the door, and he hung out in the yard for some time under a peach tree, where he noticed the fallen peaches were in different stages of decay. He intertwined the premise of desire for both peaches and the girl in the song lyrics. The second incident involved hearing an unhoused man in Seattle mutter the words "I'm moving to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches." Wikipedia also noted that the lines " Go to the country, Build you a home, Plant a little garden, Eat a lot of peaches" appear in John Prine's song 'Spanish Pipedream' so if the singer heard the song, it may have also inspired the idea for the song, either with or without the peach tree incident. The band has a lot of fun catchy tunes, and they are often found on my play lists for road trips. It's worth checking out some of them.

One of the 90’s nonsensical songs……it just gets stuck in your head but doesn’t have much meaning. 😂😂

Inspired by an LSD trip in the backyard of a woman the lead singer was attracted to, under a peach tree.
