I’m a refugee from South Sudan 🇸🇸. My mum was pregnant with me and was running from the war in Sudan. I don’t know how she survived. We live in a refugee camp in Uganda 🇺🇬 (where I was born) for many years. We now live in New Zealand 🇳🇿. We’ve been here for almost 10 years and are afraid to go back home due to war, though my mum has been back for funerals.

:c Humans are cruel. I found out my great grandfather was a refugee, who fled alone from the civil war in china as a young child. They gunned down those that did not return and attempted to enter after refusing them entry. He was one of the lucky ones who successfully made it. I can't imagine what it's like to be alone, witness such horrors as a young child, and still find the strength and desire to survive, but I think that refugees have been through enough and do not need anymore suffering after their escape.

The video was promoting greater refugee intakes for western countries with a haughty fake neutral language. It's a extremely biased and completely ignores the permanent demographic destruction of western countries by low cognitive ability dissident cultures and religion. It completely ignores the problems such as Islamist inspired terror. So I don't like refugees because they are all ultimately destructive. There is no such thing as integration only displacement of Europeans. I want non, zero. If you think I'm harsh just remember a young European taking his girl friend to Brussels railway station may see her face ripped of by a nail bomb planted by an immigrant or son of an immigrant. No thank you. I can't go into a European capital city that looks more like Africa than Europe. Even the Japanese tourists complain of it.

This video touches me deeply. My boyfriend is at refugee from Vietnam. He tells me stories of his earliest memories of his family leaving his birthplace in Veitnam and being transported to America. When he camr to the states he was suffering malnutrition (which effects his body today), changing his name and being disconnected from his culture and language when moving here. We as humans need to have empathy and compassion for refugees. Imagine being forced from the place you grew up and being placed into a culture that isnt your own? especially being displaced in a country that is in war with our own country....

In response to the Refugee Crisis in Syria, I once heard someone claim that "if someone offered you a grape, and you knew that, out of that whole bunch, one of them was poisoned, it would make sense not to eat the grapes." See, the problem with that statement is that you're justifying human cruelty by turning living, breathing people into grapes, something you can throw away without consequence or remorse. So how about this, much more realistic analogy instead? Let's say someone offered you a bunch of grapes, and, out of a bunch numbering in the hundreds of thousands, one of them was poisoned. But let's say that for every grape you eat that isn't poisoned, someone else gets to live. Someone else gets to escape a life of poverty, disease, and destitution. A family man. A wife. A child. Someone you've never met, and someone who you may never meet, but who needs you at this moment more than anyone else probably ever will to eat a single grape. Would it still be reasonable to refuse? Perhaps. But what ticks me off is a person who does that and claims that they're trying to make their country "Great" again. No. Just no. You cannot make a nation 'great' on the basis of cowardice. As an American, my nation has been accused of many things, but the one thing I thought we'd never allow ourselves to be thought of is a nation of cowards, hiding behind border walls and our own, delusional sense of isolationist exclusionism. What happened to us? We happened to the home of the brave? How did the huddled masses yearning to breathe free become our enemies?

My grandfather and his family were lucky to escape Cuba when they did. Each kid left at 15 and had to care for themselves, living on their own for 16 years. They had to rebuild their lives from scratch, going from the top 10% of Cubans to the slums. They worked as hard as they did back home and my grandfather is an anesthesiologist. +Orangie It seems that you need to work on you definition of "propaganda." Like I said, this is an educational video, meant to spark discussion in classrooms; it's not leaning in any political direction, it's just explaining the definition of "refugee", giving teachers the chance to ask their students about their opinion on the current events in Europe. Just because a video doesn't share your point of view doesn't automatically make it propaganda. A left wing person saying it is the Western world's duty to accept refugees because of what the committed in the past is propaganda. A right wing person saying that Western culture is superior to Islamic culture, and that the refugees are plotting to destroy Europe is propaganda.

Very recently a syrian guy in Germany told me his story, how he was taken and tortured by syrian police forces for being on the street with a friend and two other people, released with the order to enlist in assads army, and fight for the hated dictator who surpressed his family for years fled through turkey, where they were basically told to f*** of, spent much of their families money to get on a boat to greece, which capsized in the mediteranean and nearly drowned his friend. Overcrowded camps in Greece, where he had to sleep in the open as they didn't even have enough tents, walking nearly one thousand miles through all those hate filled states, that basically just hand refugees up to hungary, where they weren't allowed to move further, still having to sleep in the open, and finally put into a train by police, through Austria into Germany... ...And then there are a**holes in Germany who have never known pain, hunger, or having to sleep in the open, whose biggest drama in life is probably the death of the family dog and who have nothing better to do than shout at him to go home, and that he is unwelcome, and that all refugees should "traditionally" be gassed, while he is walking to his German school... My faith in humanity has finally vanished this year...

im sorry, i know your comment is very old, but please do not of think of anti-refugee right wingers as some kind of entitled assholes. Their arguements are very well-founded, and have to do with how the economics & politics of it works out. First of all, the european countries which are taking in migrants, have no basic plans to resettle these people back into their home countries after the wars over there are over, and are attempting to integrate them in the larger foreign society, which btw, wont be possible and will only help to imbalance the ethnic & religious balance of the nation, thus paving way for ultranationalistic movements at worst, and uneducated populists at best. 2nd arguement, and the most logical one, is that upto 90% of the people who are illegally crossing borders are working age males, and only about 7% of them are from syria, and 5% from iraq. 4% from somalia. 5% from libya. all 4 warzones. where are the rest of the so called war refugees coming from? let me see, 10% are from afghanisation, 15% from pakistan, and many many from other african nations which have no relation to war, but only want to leave their country due to poverty, instead of helping the country grow. again. working class age males, where are the families, where are the children.

I have been a refugee for the past 18 years so the country I live in is the only home I have ever known . my family and I have always faced discrimination and there is no clear distinction between migrants and refugees so we have been denied many resettlement opportunities. I hope the the message of this video will be able to be spread.

i didn't dislike this video cause it was about the definition, so i have no idea why would some one dislike it. but since every one is talking about the obvious, let me share my opinion: i think the refugees that come from syria all the way to Germany should not be branded as refugees at all, they skip other safe countries cause they want a good place rather then a safe one, it's understandable but it's BS to call them refugees since they do that.
@sassycassgames31588 жыл бұрын
Many of those countries(ie:Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, etc..) in between Germany and Syria have become fairly unsafe for refugees, espescially in the Balkans, where extreme nationalist and statist sentiments have taken roots. Also, many of those nations outright refuse Asylum to a very large percentage of Asylum seekers... I believe the max quota in Bulgaria accounts for around less than 5% of the amount of Syrian refugees alone.
@sehzthecynic67518 жыл бұрын
They are unsafe from people like them because of people like them there is a reason the middle east is a big flaming pile of shit, ISLAM.
@graveeking8 жыл бұрын
People dislike it because they expected/wanted to hear something that favours their political argument and are disappointed it has not. On another topic: How do you define safe? There's a lot of good reasons to skip country's one passes through. Just anywhere they won't immediately be persecuted? Well if so then how do they even know where that is? A lot of these people might not even know - perhaps along the way smugglers tell them it's not safe to stop in some of those places they pass through. I mean some of those country's along the way literally have walls to keep them out - so it's unsurprising people feel unsafe stopping there because they're likely worried they'd be mistreated. Country's like such as the UK, Germany and France haven't really been in the light for persecution recently, so they probably appear to be 'truly' safe to those fleeing. Not to mention there's another point of if they just try to settle down in the first 'safe' area, will they even be able to eat? Not everyone can just settle down and start up a farm or way of earning money - especially after travelling a long distance. Fact is people need essentials to survive and not all country's are known for providing that. So in a way it isn't 'safe' to try and settle down somewhere in a place/country where there's no food or water available or even jobs to earn it yourself. So theoretically they'd still have a similar refugee status after settling down in the first 'safe' place they came to. That's the way I see it at least. I can see where you're coming from though but there are many good reasons for going over country's to get to others while still being a refugee.

SehZ The Cynic I'll bite. Lets go through these claims of yours. Communist: Well that's a term broadly used these days but the principles of true equality and removing capitalism? Not really on my agenda. I'm curious where you got that from my comment. I assume you saw me not insult migrants and just jumped to the conclusion I'm far-left wing. No my good sir I'm a moderate, I don't vote left-wing or for 'liberal' candidates typically so please don't make such ridiculous assumptions. Muslim/Jihad Sympathizing: Those two are about as linked as Christian sympathizing and crusade sympathizing. Not every Muslim is on a Jihad it turns out - seriously go out and chat to some, I think you'll find quite a few who aren't in any way on a jihad. Brainwashed: In what way brain-washed? I'll assume you mean due to the 'left wing propaganda and media!', right? OK, lets assume you're right and I've been lied to and I fell for it - how are your sources of information any more reliable than mine? Did you personally go to Germany or wherever, survey a 1000 Muslims and they were all plotting a Jihad like you claim? Or did you get your information from the news and media like everyone else? I expect the latter. If I've been brainwashed, there's a pretty good chance you have been too. Sorry mate, you can't just completely discredit an entire political opinion like that - isn't that easy. Domestic terrorist: This implies I'd in any way assist terrorism. If I heard of any plots or suspicious activity I'd report it to the appropriate sources like anyone else. If every pro-migrant citizen of a country assisted terrorism trust me when I say we'd see a LOT more bombings and whatnot than we get now. However by the lazy tone of your comment I assume you're just trolling, or you'd have actually offered some kind of reasoning.

Yes, in fact, everyone is refugee. I have notice that my great-great-grandfather is not a civilian in my hometown, but escape from my capital city. Thousands of belongings were sold or discard. He only bought his wife and 4 children, some food and water, with no transportation or identity. Although when they reach the hometown, there is nothing for them to rely on or start a new busniess, they still live well, and have future generation. Just respect and treat other well.

This video makes me remember 4 millions of South Vietnamese refused to America and Europe after 1975 to avoid Communist political prosecution. But that did not bring much controversy like the situation now. There are many differences of culture and ideology between people. And My relative said:" when you come to somebody house, you have to respect the owner." That what they did, they learnt the culture, they took labor jobs to not rely on welfare. Time by time, they earnt the indigenous respect, not demanded it. I think Syrian refugees will do the same. But they have to get over the bad side, ISIS, and try not to change other culture, learn it and they will love it.
