As an ace and an artist, i relate to the aesthetic attraction. Some people think i’m weird when I say i like admiring bodies, but I just see them in an artistic way, I just see them as if they were renaissance paintings, and I think there’s nothing wrong with that.

I think of it like this: I really really hate high heels, but can I tell if a pair of high heels looks good or not? Yes, I can. I use this a lot when explaining aesthetic attraction as it is easy for people to understand. You can still admire someone with feeling the need to be with them :)

Well what is an asexual? Because I got confused. Like am I one and just didn't know?🤷 I want to have children some day so I just thought I was stray and I find women sexually attractive. But I mean I would be super unhappy if I had sex out side the context of a committed Marge because I'm really sorry I would get bonded to a woman if I had sex with her so I would be extremely upset if she left me. So does that make me demy sexual or something? Oh and for some reason people keep speculating or calling me gay because I don't have a girlfriend and am a virgin. But I know I'm not gay because I wouldn't like men romantically I only see them platonically.

After discovering the Ace&Aro spectrums I bring it up online regularly because it was an absolute 'light bulb moment' for both me and my partner. My partner is a more stereotypical Ace&Aro, whereas I land on multiple spots in both because how I feel toward presentation and gender varies, which is also why I lable as bi. Oh, and it's the internet, age is relative for things like posts and vids, you never know how much something 'old' might mean to someone, or how likely it really is to be seen.

I’m currently questioning whether I’m asexual or if it’s simply a trauma response. (tw // sa) I was recently sexually assaulted by someone who I didn’t have any romantic feelings towards, but the entire situation only confused me even more because it was my first time. I’ve never been fully sexually active until then, and each time (even when our acts were still consensual), I really didn’t feel anything. it was more of a “this is what sex is all about it?” and that only reason I kept engaging in it was because I wanted the experience. once the sexual assault took place though, I only become more disgusted by sexual relations and even certain gestures such as kissing. its tough because so many factors come into play; I was inexperienced, I didn’t enjoy the consensual acts (but I didn’t have romantic feelings either), and it all ended with assault. it’s hard not knowing, but hopefully as a heal I’ll begin to learn the truth about myself.

Why do so many people assume that romantic relationships are about sex? There are so many things that are more important; relationships thrive when you establish trust and understand and care for each other. I'm only 24 but I know that more people should consider not carelessly give themselves away. Sex is more meaningful when you wait for the one you'll try to be with for life, and even then it's not everything. Ugh this world, man.
@abovemoon3 жыл бұрын
That's a lovely personal belief, but in no way a truth. Sometimes you can meet a person, have sex relatively quickly and continue on to have a beautiful, loving relationship. Sometimes you meet a person, wait for a long time to have sex and the relationship ends immediately after. Absolutely nothing is guaranteed in any relationship. Those experiences set a more realistic view of relationships, and not an opportunistic one.

This video feels like a warm hug for me. I feel like society puts so much pressure into sex when starting a relationship, when there's plenty of other things to look into when having a partner. To know that I'm not alone in this is so comforting. I fall into the side of the spectrum that can enjoy kisses and cuddles but not the sex part. I feel like us ace people get infantilization as well, I'm always told I should get used to sex because that's the world we live in, it's human nature and the typical "ugh, just grow up already!". It makes me want to cry because it breaks me how messed up this world is, but thank you, just thank you for making me feel seen. 💜

as an asexual too, to be honest i feel like sex is just weird and ruins true meaningful relationships - like its probably the same for everyone, it doesnt go anywhere except apparently give people momentary enjoyment, so whats the point? if i did that with someone i wouldnt be able to look at them again, its just unnecessary. i think anyone who is asexual is most likely much more intelligent/cares about things in a deeper way because sexual attraction just seems like a halt. i think that the annoying way most peoples eyes light up when someone mentions sexual attraction is much, much more childish than thinking its unnecessary. sorry idk this reply is so random lol

I remember the first time I slept with my ex girlfriend I was always confused beforehand why i didn't want it and assumed id like it. Once the time actually came, I remember laying in bed with her thinking my brain was broken. After this happening a couple of different times with different girls I thought "maybe im homosexual, I've never felt attracted to guys but something isn't clicking" After pondering that i realised ive never felt attracted to guys unlike girls so definitely not that. I've always wanted someone to love and be with on my path of life, but i could never tell someone I'm with that i don't want sex in the relationship. Learning about the ace community has really opened my eyes and I feel less like my mind is broken. Its been such a good change in life being able to seek out others that feel the same way, and I'm glad youre spreading that awareness so others can find out that they're not broken and its completely normal. Finally, a video about my sexual orientation. I used to think that I was a straight girl who just didn't find the right guy, but I knew for a fact that I was disgusted by sex. The very idea of being naked and exchanging body fluids with someone grosses me out, not to mention it puts me at risk of STDs and pregnancy. There are people I find good-looking, but never have I wanted to have sex with anyone. I used to have a crush on someone in high school, but it never progressed to anything more. And honestly, I'm way over it now. I want people in my life, but even if I were to get into a romantic relationship with a guy, I don't want any sex. Sex is hugely overrated, and I feel like society is too sexualized.

Just a reminder you don't have to decide on a sexuality right away. I feel like people are being told to define themselves too early, but you can wait. Now, I spent a good chunk of my life waiting for sexual attraction to kick in, thinking that I just wasn't done with puberty yet, but after awhile, I figured I might just not get it. I know a lot of other Asexuals don't like being told that they'll change their minds, but if I get into a relationship and turn out to be Demi, I'd be fine with that

Honestly, I've been trying to figure out my sexuality and, It's really confusing🤦🏻♀️ I kind of identify as bisexual but I'm not even sure if I'm bisexual or not, and I don't know how to know. I don't know I can think a girl is pretty just like I can think a boy is pretty, but everyone can think someone is pretty, regardless of their gender or sexuality, so it doesn't define my sexuality, and if I'm demisexual or asexual I will not, or barely have any sexual attraction so it'll be even harder to find out my sexuality, aaaargh idk if you watch anime/read mangas, or My Hero Academia in particular, but I feel like Izuku, he's always thinking too much and that's what I'm doing. I just need to relax and don't care, I'll probably find out one day so it doesn't matter right now, but I wanna know sooo bad. Sorry for writing all of that-

I wish we could live in a world, where people don't have to stress about who they are, and how they define themselves. You know what I mean? Am I suddenly bi?". I know that's an utopian idea, but people should be with people who make them feel good, without having to explain themselves to others.

I am 25 and I have had sex in my prior relationships, however, ive only recently spoke to a close friend about how I always thought that sexuality was something that my partners expected of me and felt like if i did not serve them what they find so important, theyd become upset or angry or judging with me and leave me, so I kind of forced myself into all kinds of things that at best, meant nothing to me and made me feel nothing and at worst, felt awful and/or painful just so that the other person was satisfied with me because I had built my self worth and value purely on doing what the person i feel emotionally close to wants me to, or enduring what they want even if i do not. Most of this is connected to my psychological way of how i treat others and let myself be treated and the whole system of 'If i dont want it but you do, its real, worthy and important and if i want it but you dont, its not and should be forgotten about' or rather sacrifice and submission to an unfair and inbalanced extreme of letting my emotions, thoughts, sensations, vulnerabilities and borders be overstepped, neglected and hurt in the process is something that has nothing to do with my gender identity or sexuality, but affected those in a way where I completely ignored what i felt and wanted, in these sections of myself, too. So I just recently came to the realisation of how my experiences about sexual and romantic attraction, desires and satisfaction are so absolutely different from most people that i know nowadays, in my altered state of mind, where my own experiences matter and i ve started building a connection to my feelings. Very suddenly, i came to the personal conclusion that, not only do i find a different type of gender romantically interesting than those that i had been with thoughout my life, but also that i have no interest in sharing sexuality with anyone, not even my closest romantic partners. Its not that I absolutely dislike the idea and practisation of it, which was the main reason for why i thought that i 'am' far from asexuality. (I had very open and diverse friendships across all the years but never actually second guessed myself about the topics i knew and accepted from close ones). Then recently i heard for the first time that if I do not like and do not want to share anything sexual with someone and that it gets me upset when they do, that that is something that important and worthy to think about, and that, even when I 'can be okay with it for the sake of harmony' its 'counting' as difference between the wants of me and the partners i had, which would continue to have me force myself to something i feel uncomfortable with, unless i start respecting what i feel like. I have this one really great friend, who keeps empowering me to atleast try myself out with other types of gender than what i am used to, but to also start geetting friends with the thought that itll feel the same-ish way of 'i guess ill hold still until youre done and happy' and that in that case, i should NOT continue like that but search someone who can understand me. Ive always been inclusive and acceptant of my surroundings individualities, and i am thriving and happy that finally, i am starting to treat myself the same way. It felt like quite a shock when this friend of mine answered to me explaining how physical intimacy on a sexual level makes me feel with 'Its not supposed to be that way. Theres something off about what you feel and what you do, theres a dissonance inbetween which not natural and not healthy, please start thinking about this whole topic, for the love of yourself.' And I am trying my best to get to know myself. So yeah, thank you kind stranger, for reading through this, I just had to get this off my chest because there are very few people that I can talk to and even less that i actually do, and have a nice day wherever you are. And remember to be gentle, compassionate, and caring with yourself.

I'm assuming your gender here,if I'm wrong and this doesn't apply to you, I sincerely apologize. As a female asexual, I really think it can be much more difficult for females to figure out that we're asexual because society assigns so many more complex purposes and meanings to the female sexual experience. For men, its just "I wanna get off." For women, you're supposed to put out to please others, because you owe it to your man, if you don't he will get it somewhere else..... sometimes even just a man being sexually intetested in you can feel like an obligation. It's really hard to dig through all that to unearth your own libido, and even more confusing to discover that your libido isn't necessarily triggered by others.

This is to ALL non ace people: Yes, there are cases where someone assumed they are ace, tho then meet someone and figure out they’re actually demi, but it is NOT the main case. Saying “you haven’t met the right one yet” is very rude and invalidating. Do not say it to anyone referring themselves to be ace, not every ace person will get into a relationship. -coming from the girlfriend of an ace/demi person :)

Even though I’m not ace, I’m rather mad at the fact that people are basically saying that being ace is being uninterested in relationships in general. They’re basically saying that asexuals are both asexual and aromantic. Just because someone is asexual, doesn’t mean that they don’t want to be in a relationship!
@Barlmoro3 жыл бұрын
i think there is a big conflikt with it. if you have a Ace + not Ace relationship the not asexual partner will suffer from hormones. depends on how much libido he has its faster or slower. My ex girlfriend lost her Libido to medical condictions and i try to be a good partner, but it goes so worse that i get migrane over the urges to make love with her, becurse it stressed me so much. She loved to kuddle but after like 10 min my hormones overhelmd me and i have to stop or i endet that it switched from happy to actual harm...
@Nothingtea3 жыл бұрын
@@Barlmoro As I understand it, in an ace + not ace relationship, just like *any* relationship, the key is communication. Partners should talk to one another about what they need, and what they're comfortable with. Having a lower libido due to medication is not the same as being asexual- so I'm going to say, you should talk with your partner about if they'd be comfortable going to the shop and buying some sexual aids. I absolutely loathe that ace people are always expected to be the ones "compromising" here, for the "health" of their partners however.

For me, learning there was a difference between aesthetic attraction and sexual attraction is what helped me to realize I was a flavor of asexual... well into my 30s. Also, fun fact, swingers are apparently super respectful to asexuals as well and it has to do with the black ring. Apparently swingers will wear a black ring on one of their fingers on their right hand to show they're into the lifestyle, and asexuals will often wear a black ring on their right middle finger. I guess it led to some confusion when swingers would approach an ace, so swingers are like "Try not to wear a black ring on your middle finger, that's for the asexuals." Really cool of them.

Not weird, I would have found it weirder if no one went through a “What am I?” Stage, though not being concern about yourself in those areas is also natural. Many sexualities and romance interests have fallen under A-spec, so I’m glad that having more access to this information has given you enough confidence to consider yourself Valid (you are!). The more I read about these sorts of comments the more I feel bad for those who are experiencing what you two have, but then I realized I don’t have to since they’ll eventually discover how much of an Ace they are and reevaluate themselves appropriately

I want a romantic relationship, I want to feel close to someone, I want to love, but I don't want sex. I've never found a partner who understands this and I always have to have "the sex" to keep the relationship going. I've tried being single and I find it desperately lonely. So I seek a female companion, then she wants sex, I get uncomfortable and we break up. It's a recurring cycle that I don't think I'll soon break.

Well if you get made fun of then screw them because EVERYONE on this planet is different from one another. You do not have to understand that and they don't have to understand you. But it isn't your job to make them understand and vice versa. We are all unique and different individuals with all different types of opinions and outlooks. This is perfectly normal and okay. All of us are valid in our own ways. Just because someone doesn't understand someone else regardless of who it is, doesn't make the person any less valid. Just difference of opinion is all. I love how unique people can be when it comes to individual expression. It makes the world beautiful. Sadly some people haven't figured out how to make peace with difference of opinion and construct or overall structure. Some peoppe have a mindset that if you don't agree with them then that means you must hate them or that you're less valid them then or "wrong" because peoppe are generally attracted to "norms" and if anything in their own world falls outside of that order they've set up for themselves mentally, it disturbs their world. But more people need to learn how to let go of that and let change be change and let difference of opinion, be what it is.

People who have said : 1)Oh my gosh , you’re a bit weird ? 2)Oh you don’t know what it’s like to be intimate coz you never tried it. 3)Maybe you’re just scared of having sex. 4)I don’t think you can ever control your feelings when it comes to being sexual. I'm Panromantic Asexual, and when I came out to my mom she said I "wasn't old enough to know," meanwhile my friends are all over here super confused on how I just don't want the saxophone lessons All jokes aside, other than that, everyone I've come out to has been supportive and I'm very glad to have such great friends, especially with everything else that's happening in my life, so even though I know my friends won't see this, thank you guys, you're the reason I choose to stay in this world :D

Same. And it might be because I’m young, but I’ve never really felt the need for sex. Honestly being in a cute relationship instead of a lustful relationship sounds better if I had to pick one.

I knew a few people that I told that I was Asexual, that said “Then why are you dating _______???” To be CLEAR, idk why people think relationships must have sexual attractions, he’s uncomfortable with talking about that general topic, so it’s difficult to question about his sexuality. People keep asking “Have you guys done stuff like that?” Or “Have you guys sent nudes?” Like, why would you AUTOMATICALLY assume that, besides we’re still young and about to graduate middle school, people do and talk about that stuff too early. Can’t I focus on an innocent and affectionate relationship without having to think about that? I want to know if my first lover is the one for me, I’ve never been so close to anyone before and I’m not ruining it because of other people. Of course if he wanted to, in the future I wouldn’t mind a family, but why think about that now while we’re young? I say this a lot when commenting on their videos but, if you read this all, thanks for listening to my rambling, I get a little too personal sometimes, but it’s nice to vent where people will understand :)

I would probably throw the reply back "Why are you dating if you already got laid? Didn't it serve it's purpose". Then when they give the whole "but I like so and so" just be like, "there's the answer."

So let me get this straight. Our society has become so sex-obsessed, that anyone who has more emotional/romantical/other expectations from a relationship is considered asexual? That just confirms, that I've been asexual my whole life.

I'm demisexual and sometimes I feel so uncomfortable because of the anxiety I get when I know I probably will never be able to be in a happy relationship cuz sex is so vital for people.

It's okay to not be in a romantic relationship. It's okay to not be in a relationship, period. You don't need anyone to "complete" you. Don't force yourself into a relationship just because it seems the norm to have one. You're fine by your own. Maybe you will find a romantic partner who you can have a very strong and not necessarily sexual bond. Maybe you won't. Either way is a good way. It's going to be okay.

I'm also demisexual, and a quite eccentric with Asperger characteristics; and although I haven't had a girlfriend yet, I found some girls who don't value sex so much or even at all. So don't worry. Like they say in Spanish, "siempre hay un roto para un descosido"; eventually you will find someone who values you just as you deserve, without even expecting it.

As an asexual biromantic, I appreciate this so much. Unfortunately, some people don’t really understand what it means to be ace, and this does a great job of explaining it

I’ve been through a lot of trauma and it made me view sex as something that was vile, disgusting and evil, but I realized years later that’s not always the case. I slowly started correcting my way of thinking everytime I cringed at anything that could be considered sexual, instead telling myself that the majority of people don’t think and feel the way I do, and that there are still good people out there who can have good experiences with someone they love. I started writing short romance stories with sex scenes that always involve consent, communication and love between the couples. My bestfriends read them and always tell me how much they enjoy the aftercare and the love shown between the characters. It’s helped me immensely with becoming more comfortable with the thought of sex. While I still can’t picture myself with anyone, now I can at least say I view it as something that’s natural and human. 💜

Well, can you'll asexuals help me in this situation : I love my girlfriend a lot, she's asexual, but it I like sex a lot 😅 i mean a lot..... I don't want to breakup with her because it'll crush her heart, she'll cry alot & I don't want to give her this lvl of pain nor do I have the courage to this 🥺....... I am really really confused please help me BTW from where I can read your stories ?????
@miu36402 жыл бұрын
@@manishkumarpandey9702 That is really difficult... A relationship is about making sacrifices, but people also have boundaries. Not every Ace dislikes Sex and can find enjoyment in it, others might feel repulsed of the thought. So first of all, talk about your feelings and desires and ask her about her boundaries. You shouldn't convince her to "try it" or something like that... If she doesn't want to have intercourse, there is no changing her mind. If this is something you can't accept, because it is also valid how you feel, you probably won't be able to find common ground... So think about if this is the kind of relationship you want. Important is talking about everything and respecting each others wishes. I hope that helped a little bit, and good luck :)

I'm struggling to know if i'm asexual or not, it would explain a lot growing up and how I am now, but at the same time i don't know if past/childhood trauma is just making me feel this way. I've never wanted to be sexual in a relationship, it's always felt wrong, and at times really triggering. It always feels like I have to shove down how I feel and act a part with my now long-time partner when he wants that side of things, we now have kids together and it makes me feel worse (not the kids, can't imagine life without them), it's the sleep deprivation from having to be up all night, the last thing you want to think about is sex and that side of things. And he has a much higher libido, and I have so much guilt because I'm not on his page. I fear not being enough in that way for him. He seems to think because i'm quiet about things i must be thinking about them all the same as he is, i know i need to work on communication, but i'm scared of losing him and his friendship if i were to be honest about everything. I love the bones of him, at times i wish i could change how i am because i feel like i must be the oddity, i'm so conflicted.
