As a person from India whose applying to American colleges, this was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much, Prerak!

THANK YOU for this. I am a first generation college student too. Many people were born into academia and look at you funny for asking these type of basic questions (that they actually can't answer in depth 😂)

Glad to hear it! Yes, definitely explore; that's the advantage of college. You don't want to commit to something when you haven't seen what's out there!

this was so helpful. i’m a first gen asian american and my parents didn’t go to college. my dad finished high school and my mom only did middle school. i have an older sister but she went to esthetician school so it’s much different then college. no where in high school did they explain college careers and how everything works. all they had to say was that “college is more strict then high school”. i’m currently a freshman in community college majoring in business but now i don’t want to do that. with this video, i’ve realized that i want to go into digital marketing with a minor in graphic design.

ADVICE FOR FRESHMEN IN COLLEGE: Avoid debt please. If you dont know what you want to study do not run through the motions cuz all your friends and family expect you to. Ppl go to college and expect to figure it out, 4yrs pass and you end up with debt and a career that sucks or with a major that is hard to find a job in. There is nothing wrong with starting at Community college. You will pay 2x-3x the price of a simple ENG 101 class at a big University. Do Gen. Eds. bare minimum at a community college. (If you have an interest go ahead, but If you have no clue at all. DON'T GO TO COLLEGE. Figure it out first) Going to college with out a more or less firm plan A, back up plan B, and the back up, back up plan C, etc. its like a blind man hoping to bump into his house. The blind man needs a guide and/or something preplanned in his mind before walking.

If you have one year worth of college credits going in as a freshman, and are expected to graduate by 2020 (within three years), is there still room to explore different majors? I am going in as a Biology major at Drexel this fall but was wondering if I would have the luxury (as a student on a premed track) to explore majors such as anthropology or computer science that genuinely interest me haha. I know everyone says college is about exploring engaging areas and whatnot but the extra time and money spent is somewhat scary lol
@Als.jo967 жыл бұрын
But wouldn't it be a waste of time if you took a year in a certain major and then you changed.? Or does all the credit hours taken get transferred
@PrerakJuthani7 жыл бұрын
Credits are retained, but technically, you still would have to take other classes and you would have lost some time :(

I'm unsure if you could really assist me with my question, but I'd highly appreciate if you would be able to. I'm planning to major in computer science, but I'm also fascinated by AI. So can I major in Computer Science and minor in AI? Is it possible?

Hi Prerak, thank u for making this video. Do the major-minor option is only available in American Universities? I am interested in both Industrial and Mechanical engineering.
@PrerakJuthani7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I believe this may be unique to the US, but I am not sure. Based on the experiences of my parents (from out of country), there was no such thing as a "minor" for them. Nonetheless, I am sure that you can still do a major that combines both of those interests, and perhaps that could work for you!
@kiranshrestha34787 жыл бұрын
Do such degree available in Australia and Asian countries?

I am a bit confused with the connection of bachelors degree in business administration with the major in accountancy means ?
@PrerakJuthani7 жыл бұрын
This could be a double major. Technically, a bachelor's degree in anything is the same as a major in it; so, if you have a bachelor's for BA and then another major with accounting, that may be two majors together (aka a double major!). Hope that helps!
