What Does It Mean When A DX Station Is Working Split?

It seems like working split is a good idea to manage pileups. We just need to have the frequency police stop clogging things up. Most HF radios with dual vfos have a split function. As for POTA, it would be interesting to use split and see how it goes. It should be a more common practice.

How do you log a split qso. This why I wish the arrl paper log would label the freq. Freq or Band.
