I've a lot of time for Sir Lindsay. Not just because it's great to hear such a prominent Lancastrian voice in public life, but I was a young trainee surveyor working for a coal mining company who wanted to develop a landfill site in his constituency. The way that Hoyle, a local councillor, stood up for the constituents who elected him, taught me a lot about democracy.

Used to be a fan, not at the moment. How in recent PMQs he allows Boris to slander Kier on comments r.e. Saville yet then ejects Blackford after presenting evidence that Boris mislead parliament was such a contradiction. Then after all of that he still didn’t follow through and throw Blackford out. I feel he lacks the ability to control the room and the tories will use this to their advantage

The problem is he does absolutely nothing to prevent Boris from repeatedly lying to the house. If MP's and the PM aren't telling the truth to the house and nothing is done about it, it's just a pointless pantomime. If the current framework of procedures isn't able to stop the lies then the speaker should change the procedures.

Unfortunately that's because it's in law that you cannot call someone out for lying. It's the hundred plus year old law that needs changing, the speaker unfortunately has to follow that practice other he would be deemed impartial, which is a big no no for a speaker. Hence why Bercow never got the traditional honours after he stepped down

I like Sir Lindsay Hoyle as Speaker. He has a wonderful Lancastrian accent and approach which is so refreshing after his predecessor's attitude. Watching this Speaker, for instance, deal with Boris Johnson during PMQs after the Covid party scandal had broke should be compulsory viewing for anyone interested in British politics. Some of them were PMQs at its showiest!

I just wish that some of the out dated ancient rules or laws were more updated or gotten rid of.And then certain events wouldn't be happening the way they do. For example the speaker is forced by convention/rules to remove any MP from debate for saying another MP lied or intentionally mislead Parliament regardless of whether they actually have or not. This restricts freedom of speech, dampens the value of debate in Parliament and only encourages more unofficial debates on tv/press. Don't get me started about 'The Right Honourable' title tripe too, representing your constituency is the only title that should count unless they are a minister/shadow minister.
