My son is 24 and recently bought a Speedmaster Professional from 1991. I think it is a sweet looking watch. My father gave him his old Rolex Sub no date when he was 9 years old.

One no more NEEDS one of these than they need a painting on the wall, a nice haircut, or a car with a sunroof, but they sure are nice and I got myself one just for me. p.s. Physics teachers aren't interested in chemicals in the main, they understand the properties of liquids/gases/solids etc. Our physics teacher would laugh (not maliciously) at the Chemistry teachers, as to him, the math etc. was so simple. Even the Chem teacher would admit that there was a huge cross-over between Physics and Chem, which indicates, with a crash course of about a month any Physics teacher could lecture Chemistry, but not vice versa. Also firmly middle to upper-middle class not lower-middle.. sheesh.

lol. For me, the only things you got right were marginal middle class, science minded(but far from a teacher) and Omega Moon *is* the greatest watch ever created by the hand of Swiss gods. It's my daily wearer. I'm a self employed laborer. I wear it working on my old Jeep(No fucking Prius, thank you). Fixing shit like plumbing, electric, clean-outs and other dirty work. I'll do anything for a buck, so I'm not *that* high minded. And I'm a voting Republican, but Libertarian at heart, so for me Obama is the antichrist. I also have two Seamasters. I'm a convinced wearer of a Casio LCD DCF77 used watch.It's more accurate than a Rolex,has more functions than a Speedmaster, costs less than a meal at McDonalds and nobody thinks I'm a poser. I'm from Switzerland and I remember a time, when watches had to do with accuracy and technology. Remember the Bulova Accutron, the first Jaeger LeCoultre Quarz or the Omega Megaquartz? Today watches are about posing. There is no reason to spend a months income for a technological outdated mechanical watch.

Love the Calatrava profile but it's not quite dead on, although fairly good. As for the moon watch, I'd say that it's someone who appreciates fine watches and that's it. I can see anyone with an interest in watch collecting getting one just for the history and the "completeness" of his or her collection.

You know... The only assumption one can make is in regards to income. Even the most expensive watch brands have entry level watches that can be had by anyone if they want it badly enough and are willing to save up. Of course a supermarket bag boy will never own an AP Survivor because that is just common sense. But other than that you cannot judge someone for what kind of watch they are wearing. That is simply ridiculous. Smart, good, bad or any other kind of person comes in all income levels.

Actually he has pronounced it correctly, given that he is referring to a naval officer (ie on a submarine). Only Australian Army officers are pronounced 'leftenant' as you said. I should know, I was one. Ironically I also own a Speedmaster Pro.
