A long time ago i saw you do the golf swing takedown and I've tried many times while in sparring but i didnt really get the concept. Here it shows more. Awesome! I'm going to try it again. To be far, ive tried it against Sensei, so thats probably also why it didnt work for me. 😅

Think about pulling their hip in a way that would make them want to step forward to catch their balance, but you are then also pulling the foot out from under them like slipping on a banana peel all in one movement.

For us Sanda fighters catching the leg is literally the setup for half of our techniques 😅 there are so many takedowns from catching foot that the hard part is to decide in the blink of an eye which of them you'll do.

Just when I thought I was a certified martial arts nerd I came across your golf club swing. It really is surprising to me because in our Sambo we learned many many unorthodox attacks to the legs yet completely skipped over the golf swing. It's also troubling to me since we had some great wrestlers in the city come and train with us in our sambo and the golf swing is part of the standard wrestling curriculum and yet they still completely passed by it somehow. It really is a thing where just when you think you know a lot you end up learning more. I've never really been strong with single legs, however, though it seems to be the bee's knees in grappling today. Which some people find odd since I'm one of the heavier guys in our team, and because of that, they just assume you have to steamroll everybody. They're also some really easy and amazing counters to the single leg that I'm really surprised haven't been seen more in MMA compared to the much harder counters to attack focused higher up and no gi. In my armchair hobbyist opinion. Some radical stuff here no less.

@catocall7323 Iv seen a few wrestling youtube channels demonstrate it as part of their curriculum. However, maybe they decided to borrow it. I just assumed it was always known by some wrestlers.

Ramsey! This might be a pretty out there question, but I recently got a vr headset, and there are boxing games. It feels very realistic when you slip punches and duck and punch back, not to mention as a workout. Thoughts of using this as a supplement to training!? Obviously, if you just played this all day instead of actually training, you won't be a pro boxer. But to add it in as well as your current training. Also, WE LOVE AND MISS YOU RAMSEY, and sorry I've been less active of a subscriber recently 🥺

Use the grip you have on your downed opponent's foot to control him and pass his guard. Try pushing his ankle into the floor so you can move around his legs and he can't follow you until you have him pinned.

I like a lot of the videos that you post, I think they do a good job getting people to consider the practicality of whatever fighting style that they study. All styles have strengths and weaknesses, although what is generally worst is poor instruction and training of these skills. With this type of situation, I just wonder why you don't just kick the standing knee. Either from the front or back, the leg will most likely buckle under them. From the front, It can definitly hyperextend the joint causing serious permanent injury, and from behind, the standing leg will most likely collapse. Another thing is if you have a good hold on the kicking leg, if you turn direcly away, you can get them into a leg lock that stretches the muscles and tendons on the front part of the leg and possibly damaging the knee as well.

Hey Ramsey, God bless you my friend. I trained on and off throughout my life, so I could never in good conscience say I trained for YEARS 😂, but I know basic hand to hand combat(very basic). I’ve had a lot of injuries from Training and a bad trampoline accident. I then got into drugs and I went into Psychosis 3 different times and God has for some reason healed me Everytime. Now that I’m sober and starting physical therapy, I would like to start training again. The problem is all the gyms ask for more money than I have to offer. What should I start with? (Sorry for the long comment) I posted this on a 6 year old video, so here you go 😂

This probably only works if you're significantly taller and stronger than your opponent, but if you catch the leg, then lift and push back, you can keep going until you're holding your opponent suspended by the ankle. I know it works if you're 6'6" and 350 while your opponent is 5'6", 135. I've done it.

Hey Coach Ramsey, what are your thoughts on this: Ive been going on and off to our local boxing gym and for the longest time, it has always been this "do your own thing while head coach works with his fighters" type of arrangement. That in which I have no problem with as I get to pace myself. New coach has taken over and he has turned it into a forced "boxercise" class wherein he'll make us partner up and do bag intervals switching from one person to the other. I honestly think its a waste of time as I could have used that time for myself instead of mindless tiring myself out

5:15 exactly. The problem is, things are always moving, in our universe, in life, in combat. At least they should.💃👯🕺 Similar to what my Karate Sensei once told me: "There are no 'stances' in combat". These are just certain coordinates you pass through while moving, that favor certain next moves. Connectors so to speak. Even the deep, strong stances, they are for a situation where someone pushes or pulls you, but they always result in a next move. They are excessively practiced to condition the body and the balance to be able to do specific moves in various situations.

Hey Ramsey question here. I haven't boxed In a while cus I realised I can't compete (cus of religious reasons). But also the other main reason which you made me realised in another video is that their aren't ninjas following me around and that if you swallow your pride most fights can be avoided. But I digress, my question to you is I still want to be able to fight is the best way to just go ham at a punching bag? I can't seem to find one. I've been doing boxing for 4 years and wanna do some kicking. How do I even train kicking on a bag? Please help I respect your opinion.

Hi Ramsey I'm watching some old Mike Tyson fights, and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the Tyson Vs Jake Paul fight next month? Mainly how could Jake Paul win? That's the end of the question part 😊 I'm not a Jake Paul Fan but Im enjoying the thought process of predicting how the fight could go and it's a good excuse to watch some old fights I haven't seen in awhile Everyone around me is expecting a knockout in the first or second round and I think that is definitely a possibility But looking at it from what strategy Jake Paul would use going in I think it's going to be to clinch up every opportunity and either wait for a break or to circle off to the right and whip a straight right, stay on the outside (easier said than done) clinch every time he's in close and repeat I'm a huge mike Tyson fan one of my favourite fighters of all time and I've tried to emulate the way he fights for years
