@@KarenBritChick hey karen! love yr work! not all the ppl in the video r guys or use he/him pronouns. mx.fierce (valentina) uses they/them pronouns. trans ppl r everywhere, and in order to avoid misgendering someone, it is best practice to use gender neutral language for ppl and ask for their pronouns in the little interviews u do w the different ppl. i love your videos and seeing the diversity of fashion in the city, but it's important to not assume ppl's genders bc we (trans ppl) r everywhere being fashionable and fabulous. it's not "gender bending" for us, but it is our actual genders and lives! My grandmother was a seamstress and as a child I would venture into fabric stores and sift through boxes of buttons and fabrics. Fashion is extremely powerful from its effects on climate change to personal identity. There's a lot of pain and struggle in the clothing that I wear. Over the years I've gone on a journey to push the boundaries of my personal style using the streets I walk on as my runway. Aside from the video there have been many comments that have misgendered me as "guy", which is difficult to hear as a Non Binary Transgender person ,my pronouns are They/Them( prior to being filmed on that day I was at an appointment for HRT therapy). There have been many instances where people have provoked me for my choices in fashion especially when I wear a skirt: two truck drivers roll down their window to yell at me where's your pants, a person poked at me and called me a "f@g", two subway workers called me nasty. I know other LGBTQI+ people of color (including Transgender women/non binary's of color) have been attacked in areas of the city for how they identify and choose to express themselves. I'm happy to share more about fashion and my personal journey along with resources to be a better ally. With Peace, @mx.fierce .

This video just made my day, really! I am living in Germany and I am a textile artist, writer of novels, children`s books and retired Highschool- and Elementary school teacher. When I watch the people of New York and their approach towards dressing, embracing their own individual styles, it makes my heart sing. It makes me wonder, why it can`t be like this all over the world, where free expression is a natural and wanted and cherished part of life. It is so hard and troublesome to live this expressive life here where I live and I so often feel like the "Ugly Duckling" from the famous Fairy Tale. Where are all the swans? Oh, I see, they have flown to New York I guess, ;-) :* P.S. Love the guy with his little Teddy Baer in the purse! My son, who is 12 now, loves stuffed animals so much, that his collection exedes over 300 so far, if not more. He brings his favourite ones with him, wherever he goes. He can`t bring them to school, but he leaves his parrot in the car, for a travelling buddy, lol. When we go to the cinema (not in covid times of course ;-) ) he brings a whole backpack of stuffed animals with him and they always get their own seat. :-D I never disincourage him and I tell him, that if people laugh at him, they just don`t know any better and that they are scared and wish they could be as brave as he is. I think I will definetly show him this video today and the cool guy with the Teddy. Huggs from the Schurwald Forest and from my little Rose Cottage, Germany, Christina .

Does anybody besides me think to themselves (after seeing the interesting outfits that these wonderful people can just throw together) that they've got to change up their style... Lol! It's time for me to level up... Lol!

Yes every time. I watched this and ended up buying some oversized uniqlo sweatshirts and sweaters and some chunky boots. I can’t afford to watch these videos 😱

Awww thanks, love @mx.fierce . I love finding ways to wear things differently from scarves, brooches etc. There's such power in being able to create your own story how you wear pieces.

I love hearing more and more ppl are tired of more brands and more clothes. Its already been done! Good for you NYC. We need to continue the message and keep this world free of clutter. Be sustainable. And to all my ALL BLACK only. Still only wear black to this day.
