What I really like about these videos Mark is that you help golfers to understand the golf swing in a more rounded way. You show a more objective view that is based on real data rather than reinforcing golf myths that are based on unreliable beliefs. The more we understand the fundamentals of the golf swing, the more able we are to unravel the knots we get ourselves into. When you’ve gone down the rabbit hole you need that thread of truth to lead you back to the light. The average golfer goes through a cycle of finding it and loosing it. At least that’s what most golfer I know do, including me.

This is the kind of content that sets you apart. Don't think many instructors use technology to correlate real golf swing dynamics as well as you do. 👌👌👌

I agree 💯 I went down this rabbit hole a few years back and had a horrible time with my driver and the rest of my clubs. I took a step back, learned the laws of ball flight and made strike king. I Slowly began to understand the type of grip that worked for me, proper set up for me, and started learning that my swing began from my feet and worked its way up the kinematic chain. When I learned to do this (with 1,000s of reps) my arms and hands moved in a way that was natural for me, and at a tempo that worked for me. I miraculously started to shallow out the club and flatten my lead wrist, shift my weight properly, and finish my follow through, all which squared up the club face for better strikes and faster speed. I now no longer think about swing positions. All I think about is the feeling I get when I move my lower body correctly and the tempo that works for me.

Wow! Thank you 🙏. My driving has been appalling for 10 years. Started chasing compression through lag, at about that time I started hitting driver right-RIGHT. Kept getting further and further from the inside and got worse and worse, with no ability to feel like I could square the club face. Your simple description of the hands in front of the club makes so much sense … I took your advice. I think I’m cured!

I've had a few people recently talking to me about how they're bowing or cupping their wrists to hit draws or fades. It's so crazy. I wouldn't know where to start with that. I know for a fact that if I went messing with my wrist shape, I'd screw everything up. Keep it simple. My best driver tip came from Mark quite recently. He did a video on alignment and ball position, again just the basics, and it has allowed me to hit a controlled fade where a slice had started to creep into my drives. So many more fairways found.

Such a great message! I have been working hard on my swing and have recently truly started working on club face control. I am comfortable with my mechanics but was struggling with consistency. I tried a new exercise. I took a SUPER strong grip with my driver and then tried to deliver to target. Next I took a super weak grip and did the same. I was finally using my athletic ability to control the club face. It seems so straight forward but it was a revolution in my progress. So interesting to me.

Biggest thing here for me is is as golfers picking 1 thing ourselves to work on, whilst in truth having no clue as to the knock on impact as we can’t see or understand the whole picture - like trying to do a jigsaw without the picture in front of you! 1 on 1 lessons with video included has to be best by such a long way - great vid Mark👍. Best driver tips - get fit properly, trust your driver, hit it only on the holes where it’s best to do so
@blindsquirrel31233 жыл бұрын
My best driver tip…. Focus. I find a spot on the back inside of the ball and “focus” on seeing the driver hit through that spot. My fairways hit (since I started using Shotscope to track stats) has gone from 21% to 63%. Obviously other things changed as well, but “focus” allows me to forget about the 46 swing thoughts going through my head and just, well, focus! Great content as usual Mark! Well done!

Had to watch it a few times, but I think I understand it now. I certainly understand how a simple tip you pick up on YT can lead you down a rabbit hole. I have learned to take them with a grain of salt and not expect a miracle cure to a swing faulty from one single tip. Good explanation. Only one on YT that really takes the time to explain the complete picture.

Really good video. I struggled with driver for most of the year. I got a lesson and after a few weeks it was fully grooved in. The penalty shots from the tee decreased and scores improved massively. My issue was that shoulders were way left of target which led to a two-way miss. BIG push fades with the odd duck-hook. This video really highlights the dangers of latching in to one piece of advice. Yes, this one piece of advice is good, but it must be done in conjunction with other changes which will need to be made. Excellent video Mark. Really thought-provoking stuff.

Honestly, for awhile there youtube really messed up my swing. Between stack n tilt concepts, bowed wrists and clearing hips, it can really mess with you lol. I boiled it down to 2 things I focused on and then just swing naturally and and under control as I can and things started coming back for me. My keys were 1) low point control, where do I want the low point of my swing to be based on the shot I am hitting and 2) Where my release is. For me, getting those things right for my swing took care of everything else. I would be interested in a series that was a long the lines of how to rebuild a swing from the ground up. So many of us have so many swing thoughts and techniques mashed in our game at this point that I feel like we could use a crash course on how build a golf swing that works. What is the best way to make a swing change? Hit 1k balls at the range? Play 20 rounds? Focus on one change at a time (which doesn't work for me tbh, for the reasons you stated). What do we look for so that we know we are on the right path? How does a pro make a swing change and not ruin their game? Tiger has done it several times in his career.

I can relate having watched so many different teachers over the years from Mark, to Clement to Ballard to MaMG... all the way back to The Perfect Parallel system with CJ Goecks. All of them have at least some value, but they can conflict with each other. I think the answer is always the same: Go get a lesson. A good pro can pick apart your Frankenstein swing. Get on a launch monitor and try extreme versions of what those instructors say, and just follow the data. If a swing-thought or a drill helps your swing, keep it.

Good video Mark, one thing I'd like to understand more about is the best/easiest way to manipulate path. I saw a video the other day saying to swing more from the inside your takeaway should be outside so that you are forced to reverse on the downswing, but I think that steepens the shaft and makes it easier to swing out to in? I feel at takeaway closing the face down and coming inside early means I don't have to change much on the downswing.

4 years ago I saw My golf Pro to help me with my game, struggled the past 2 seasons trying to figure it out myself, but struggled and did not play much because of playing poorly. Had a wicked Pull hook and was hitting houses on my course, and almost made me quit the game. I saw a video on Instagram where the guy swung the club back, and just dropped his arms as he turned his hips to start the swing and just let the arms follow and made his swing and club path more from the inside and he ripped the ball straight down the fairway!! I went to the range a few months ago and tried it and Damn if it didn't help my driver ball path, and once I got the hang of dropping the arms and turning as fast as I could I was hitting the ball solid and LONG and straight for this 61-year-old fart!!!! If I get LAZY and slow with my hips I hit a solid PUSH to the right now!

The main thing I’ve changed is increasing feet width. Helps with hitting up at the ball. I used to have trouble with hitting down like an iron shot. Added bonus of giving a more balanced swing on most of my shots with all my clubs.

Hey Mark, I never comment or subscribe but you have managed to get me to do both. I just wanted you to know you’ve really helped me with my game. You remind me of a really good math teacher I had. Theres a lot of golf videos that tell me I should do this and that to my swing, but you’re not really like that. Thanks for not selling out and becoming gimmicky. I need a tip on squaring the club face at the top of my swing & avoid rotating my wrists thru the down swing.

I'd like to see a breakdown of what individual elements of the swing input into clubhead speed. For example, keeping a static lower body, adding hip turn, using wrist angles. Might be quite enlightening to see..
@dsc-nr5zy3 жыл бұрын
Everyone is different, but the most speed comes from the right hand and using your hands like a whip. The body just supplements how far you let the club travel and how well you put on the brakes for impact to let the club pass by. Hit balls off your knees or sitting on a chair and you'll still get them out there at least 85% of your regular distance.

@patrikstreng68343 жыл бұрын
Funnily enough, what changed my driving was an increase in angle of attack coupled with an increase in speed. I've even delofted my driver to 8 degrees simply due to the height I'm getting, but that's allowed me to optimize the carry distance. 270-285 meters of carry distance is more than enough for most courses and I enjoy it.

I've been trying to hang back on contact and it does give a straighter shot for me, but I also feel like I lose distance, problem I have is that I feel like I get too far forward and then can't square the club face and its way too open, square on path but open, which gives me the straight start but big right, trying to work on it but struggling.

@dsc-nr5zy3 жыл бұрын
Practice. I like the push/pull drill. Start by hitting massive pushes, then swing a little more and more left each time to progressively move to straight, then move to massive pulls, then back to straight. You'll figure out which way the face points real quick because you'll see the dramatic spin as you move away from your natural path. I know my face is a little shut if I hit every shot with hook spin.
