I purchased a 1960’s -1970’s Tony lama boots a few years ago with the fd stamp. They were brand new never worn still in original box with the original buyers name on it. It was a high ranking military guy that never came home from Vietnam… I kept them for a couple years and then resold them because they were just too big. Anyways, I couldn’t find anything wrong with them. Beautiful boot and a beautiful story! My dad was in the Vietnam war but came home. Thanks for the video!

My Tony Lama snakeskin boots have the full word, "Defect" stamped inside and I was informed of this by the seller before buying. They fit well, wear well and I've worn then going on two years with no complaint. Suffice it say, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another DF pair.

I have been wild about boots from a young age. The problem was my school had a uniform and boots were not allowed so I could only wear them on weekends. My parents wrote TGIF inside the shafts of my boots. I thought it meant Thank God its friday and I could enjoy my boots. Recently, my older sister told me it was because my parents knew I wasn't too bright and they wanted to remind me that "toes go in first"!

Good tutorial on 2nds & factory defects. I recently bought a $900 pair of Lucchese Ostrich Elgin's & they had multiple defects, which they tried to pawn them.off on me. I sent them right back & they acted upset at me? Like I wouldn't notice the defects! 🤣

Thank you for that information the FD first time I hear, I think that boots you got, got only minor defect and it vanish in time of use.

Great video! The first pair of boots (Justin boots) that I bought on ebay last month is not comfortable it hurts my left outer knee when I wear them. Since I have a bad experience I thought all cowboy boots will be like that. But I was wrong. I guess my first cowboy boots are FD. Last week I received my 2nd pair of cowboys boots (Sendra Made in Spain) and they are very comfortable. I hope one day you can have a review of Sendra Boots with Ibiza or Full cuban heel boots. I watched a lot of your videos and I never see you wear a full Cuban or Ibiza Heel boots. I think most of your 1 1/2 inch boots have a mid underslung or mid cuban heel boots.

I've gotten a few items over the years that were 2nd or fd (not western boots). One pair of police boots had a slight hue to the leather finish. I got them 50% off and it cost me under $10 to strip and re dye them. They looked like new when done. 320 pair of Danners. They've been resoled several times since.

I've had a number of FD boots and have never, ever been able to find what the fault is. I can't remember ever seeing a pair of boots at an outlet store so bad that I would not buy them. I'm sure if they were so bad that it would impugn their good name they would have been chucked in the skip out back instead. And the price difference makes them a good buy. 12$?? That was a steal for boots in your skinny foot size! ;-)

I have never purchased boots marked with FD but I do have some boots that fit funny, squeak, or click. That's the danger when you buy used boots No big deal to me.
