How do you find these places id love to do this kind of diving but don't know where to start
@jmparsons73313 жыл бұрын
Google at the creeks and rivers in Bartow FL area, pretty much find something in any of them. Peace River fl, is famous for the fossil shark teeth. .at the state park ,you can rent canoes and sifting screens(maybe start here if possible, get an idea on what you'll need to go at it on your own) .watch Kelly Young yt vid fossil hunt on Peace River. Rules to know...1).get a fossil permit $5. to collect bone, don't need it for shells and shark teeth. Google FL fossil permit. 2). It's safe to scuba but not "free dive" or snorkle in some warmer rivers, "brain amoebas", have become an issue. Colder creeks and rivers don't seem to be as much of an issue....not reason to be scared, it's a very rare occurrence, just educate yourself a bit....same, on rare alligator attacks but do happen etc etc. 3) never go alone,BUT if not possible, then only do very, very shallow creeks, like 12 inches deep or less!. This should get you started. Oh I don't know where you are in Florida, but central FL in Ocala and Lakeland areas, and then River,creeks in Acadia areas. Also Sepulga River in Alabama, also know for fossils, its right on Florida state line. Most of the Rivers, lakes have places to rent kayak or canoes , just make sure they have a shuttle service to get you back to your vehicle, if not that's another reason you need 2 people. Oh,make sure you know when Alligator mating season starts, they pretty much leave people alone until then, so avoid rivers/lakes then....could possibly do shallow creeks at that time, still be cautious. Fyi, alot of old dirt roads in Florida, have alot of fossils, the state uses the limestone mines as fill dirt on these roads .And the limestone and phosphorus mines are full of fossils. If you can't get to a waterway, check out the white dirt roads.. And as always in Florida, keep eyes out for snakes.. Happy hunting 🦴🛶⛏🐊

@@WILDKYLE I was just curious. I noticed when you do your excited exclamations that you exhale, which can expend more gas. When I'm singing or yelling underwater I tend to close my throat and make noises without exhaling as much gas to save. Then will exhale slowly after. Might be worth trying to see if you conserve and get more minutes in for finding pretties! Would love to go on a river dive when I get back to Florida this summer.
