Here's a 'bank through' method: 1. load up as many kits as you want to check out 2. create an empty drum track 3. in the main mode tap the left-side panel (vu meters) 4. use 'send to' to select the kits. Delete and Purge what you don't need, keep what you do; the empty drum track acts like a clone for others, it even responds to 16 levels and other midi e.g. it can be sequenced, automated. Hope that helps.

Damn! programs were life! This is tricky since all the other new features are cool, but I was afraid programs would get... chopped 🥁
@malobeats3 ай бұрын
the programs are still there, but the ability to bank through different programs being within the same track is no longer an option:/ my workaround this at the moment is have been loading a few track with kits, then using a midi track to sequence an idea. In the track view, you can route the midi out to any track with a drum kit, allowing you to audition different drum program. Once I settle on the program I copy events and put them direct on the drum track.
@errliest3 ай бұрын
Programs are just assigned to their own track now. All you have to do is create another program/track and copy and paste the midi notes via select all, assuming you are trying to use the same pattern with different drum sounds or whatever. This update seems legit and I feel alot of people will like once they realize that this update is bringing a lot of similarities that JJOS brought to the 2500. Which nobody is mentioning...

You can still bank thru drum programs by selecting your drum library folder then banking thru your kits on the selected track using the + and - sign. This means you can quickly swop out the program without having to store all the programs in ram. Independent track mutes per sequence is also coming to the public beta.

@@malobeats anytime bro. The old skool methods are still there but now Instead of pre loading say 10 programs using loads of ram, u just load each program via the + and - until you find the right kit……Now when u save the project, u don’t have 50 unused programs :-). It’s way more efficient. Programs are still programs but are now referred to as Tracks. Even if u use the traditional song mode once independent track mutes are merged into the public beta, u can also use the arranger to finish your beat as-well. Users have a much better workflow for finishing productions. Audio tracks is also next level allowing you to track in your external synths directly on the timeline. Hope this helps.

I adapted to using the program as a track, it isn’t necessary for me to load everything on one program if I am assigning each instrument to it own track. If I have the whole kit on one track it is the same as 2. But if I’m assigning kicks, snares, and hits to different tracks, then it makes senses to either simply duplicate the track or load up a all kicks program, all snares programs and etc for each track. It is just an adjustment in thinking. Use a mpc since 2xl, 1k, 3k, 4K and REN with each relearning the best way to use my tools.
@famosguider2053 ай бұрын
It would be nice to have a revert soft key option like an undo OR maybe undo will act as a revert when switching through programs. Designing should include people who really use the product daily. Meanwhile, the 3.xx versions will continue to get updates. JJOS updates both startup OSes. Also, does this mean 3.0 now supports 1000/2500 programs, like the 2.xx versions did? I think this new workflow will probably work for me. I am old and started on hardware before there were personal computers...really. I have followed upgrade paths on both hardware and software and faced so many workflow changes that I try to see the big picture. Will it take that much on my part to adjust? Will it stifle my creativity or interrupt the flow? In the case of my main DAW, it hasn't seen an update in a decade and is no longer supported. It may not do all that the current DAWs do, but even though I have some of them too, I continue to use an old, dead DAW. So, although I am stuck in the dark ages software-wise, this new workflow seems to be closer to the way that I work anyway. I have not seen or tried it in person, but it seems to me that if you wanted to have a "program sample pool", you would just make 5 to 10 "Drum" tracks loading in those 5 to 10 programs, rather than spinning through them on one track. You could mute and solo through them to test your preferences, or use the new mixer. If you have event information on track one that you would like to audition, you could send it with the midi routing or use "event copy" into consecutive tracks. Making smaller more focused and labeled folders of your programs helps too, with tempo and style naming. Thoughts?

It's only literally in the last week when I realised the beauty of being able to have loads of drum programs loaded up to scroll through. Being able to audition different kits on my existing beats underneath the synth parts is golden. I can create my 'god template' that way. I hope they do find a workaround for that. Right now though I just need the audio tracks to actually get much done at all. I am crying out for the multiple audio tracks because I'm going to be using it to record long sections of hardware synths. I was finding this difficult to do manageable long audio files in 2.0 but 3.0 has cured those issues.

Question about syncing mpc to external source: Currently (any firmware before 3) when MPC is sync'd to external source, if you arm an audio track (1 or more)> arm MPC rec or over dub> hit start/play, it only records a blip (very small audio track) and then immediately unarms the track. As far as Patreon goes... do I cancel the perks/subscription on here? And make a new one on Patreon? Sorry for the dumb question but I am lost lol

What i'd like to do is keep my MPC one plus on 2.15 and upgrade my MPC X to 3.0 to see which I like better.
@malobeats3 ай бұрын
That’s a smart move plus don’t forget that even though you upgrade all of your MPC’s to 3.0 if things get a bit too complex, you can always downgrade with a push push of a button. The only downside to this is that the project you have created in 3.0 are not going to be functional in 2.0.

Do you keep your unfinished projects when you update?
@malobeats3 ай бұрын
Yes, that’s a great question, I have an SD card full of my old projects. It’s pretty easy to downgrade back to 2.0 if you choose to stay at 2.0 but I would highly recommend backing up.

I think I'm gonna keep the old version on computer and upgrade the MPC to 3... They just need to bring programs back and keep the whole linear workflow. There's a button for it and everything 🤷

That was my concern also … Im doing the same thing for the programs issue that you talked about😡
@malobeats3 ай бұрын
Yeah, man, I hear you on this and I might do a follow up video to a better workaround for swapping out programs, but it just takes extra steps that should not be there so hopefully this could be solved by the time it’s released publicly

Bro, so a no go😣 I myself, load different drum programs to audition sounds and if I like a snare from a program and a kick from another, I can record the patterns in them separately to create a beat. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾 I guess I could always hit the downgrade button…. Wow 🤯 🤦🏾♂️

Programs and the whole layout is the whole reason why I usually only used my MPC for sampling and drum patterns on loop while recording my instruments and mixing the beat on my DAW. This new update will definitely have me using the MPC for way more than what I did.

Can i add 6+ plugin instruments track..?
@lamonthunt30633 ай бұрын
If you want to audition sounds, just create a new track, you could always delete it if you don't want it.. A program and a track is one of the same..

I'm hope Akai doesn't pull a Windows Vista. The 2.0 is like windows xp.
@rockdfunk3 ай бұрын
why not create 6 different tracks for each of the 6 programs you've loaded, then scroll tracks to audition them?
@malobeats3 ай бұрын
This is the workaround at the moment . 👍

Will the update have overdubbing for audio tracks
@malobeats3 ай бұрын
Thank you for taking the time and mentioning this. No at the moment I do not see overdub feature functioning. It only functions to rec from the start.

I wish they gave us a choice on boot up to use 3.0 or 2.x depending on your mood.

If I create a song on MPC 3 standalone and save it would I be able to load that song later on my laptop MPC software 2?

Which version is more stable?
@malobeats3 ай бұрын
@@CVinyl I like 3.0 so far a lot better. There’s a few workarounds that I will just have to get used to, but the payoff is well well worth it.

thx for the video very helpful do you think loading a live set with lots of different programs on different track with all kinds of mutes will work it seems to me like it wont be compatible i have many live set that i use for work and really need it to be solid to keep working akai don't seem to care about they users who rely on there system the way it supose to work
@beatarcheologzt3 ай бұрын
Man I'm disappointed. If Akai don't fix that I gotta stay w 2.0
@fairnews74843 ай бұрын
You cant even record independent track mutes separately per sequence anymore on 3.0! Recording track mutes is the was the whole reason I got the MPC in the first place... What shall I do with all my projects (filled with recorded track mutes) on 3.0? It's simply incompatible! Evidently I will not upgrade to 3.0. Unless they correct this massive problem.
