Corsair is one of the biggest names when it comes to computer hardware. Over the past decade, they’ve made a name for themselves as the premium computer hardware maker who’s known for their RGB and over-the-top designs. More recently though Corsair hasn’t been doing so well. In fact, Corsair stock is down 76% and the company is barely breaking even despite having been in business for 30 years. One of the main reasons for this is far more competition. Companies like Razer, Thermaltake, HyperX, Asus, and G Skill have given Corsair a run for their money when it comes to aesthetics and RGB, largely eliminating Corsair’s differentiating feature. Also, it seems that Corsair’s software and more importantly, their customer support is more than subpar. The company barely has a 2-star rating over 1,000 reviews on Trustpilot. This video explains the major issues plaguing Corsair and what happened to the once-dominant computer hardware brand.

Corsair's commitment to iCUE is what's causing many of the problems. iCUE is just... bad. And the problem is you need it even for their fans - even though most competitors just use ARGB instead of some proprietary BS. As of now the only products of theirs I buy are power supplies because theirs are my go-to ones after seeing some PSU tests - very reliable for years - other than that I prefer other brands for either price or features.

Corsair doesn’t even make their psus. If you want a good psu, seasonic made all of the good Corsair psus. I will give a nod to the ax1600i since it is the only consumer psu made by flextronics. I would also add, since evga is sadly going away, their oem for their better psus is superflower. They tend to be my go-to as they seem to perform slightly better than competing seasonics.

@@johnshelton1205 nope. We do have a channel that tests PSUs with all the gear in both 25 and 40C environments. Corsair, Cooler Master and a local brand called PCYes passed all tests with all their PSUs so they're the 'go-to' brands here. Curiously even EVGA failed one of the tests. Those tests are authentic since they don't get sent the samples by the manufacturer, they buy the sample PSUs out of pocket.

The fact that my K70 MK.2 has survived so many spills and shrugged them off like nothing ever happened impresses me to no end. Last time i spilled on it it kinda freaked out on me and started ghost-typing, but after letting it sit for a day to dry it worked as normal again. I don't think any crappy razer keyboard could handle me being clumsy. Top tier build quality imo.

I only use it to manage my ram sticks, I like the effects, I personally use the colours to show temperature of various components on the sticks, very neat, tho it's a bit of a performance hog. I wouldn't use it to manage anything else if given chance, not even this tho.. Earlier this year iCue decided to fuck up my mouse acceleration at each restart, I spent days trouble shooting, until I found that iCue was acting up. That's really not acceptable. Buuuut... ASUS armoury crate made me realize that iCue could be ALOT worse. holyy moly that software is more like a malware. Also on a side note, I just decided to contact support because one of my ram sticks has issues with the rgb, they responded with in a day, asked to attempt 1 quite easy fix, didn't work, got RMA accepted within hours. Maybe luck, maybe that Europe has things better, who knows. Only gripe is that I'll need to find temporary memory for my system because they'll send me the new kit only after I've sent the old kit back

My experience is a bit different. My K95 Platinum keyboard has been rock solid and a joy to use buy my Dark Core SE mouse was so buggy that I thought my PC was failing, I had to do a warranty replacement for my MP600 SSD within two months (thankfully the customer service person I had was helpful so no complaints with that), and on a previous build the Corsair power supply failed in a year (my local computer shop replaced it with a Thermaltake that lasted for about 6 years until I gave away that PC) and the power button often did not work reliably. I'll never write off a brand completely but I've definitely had better luck with Logitech and Jabra peripherals, Samsung or Crucial SSDs, and the NZXT provided power supply in my current build.

I built a computer in 2018. Corsair Fans, RAM, Keyboard, Mouse, and Headphones. The Dark Rock RGB mouse went bad first in a year. Got another a replacement from them. The replacement failed quickly. Bought a logitech g502. The headphones were next, the mute button failed and it never really muted entirely in the first place. I bought Sennheiser. Next was the fans. The RGB went bad on all 4 fans. I checked the hub, plugged them into a different machine, completely bad. Decided to drop rgb and get Be Quiet fans. All in a year to a year and a half. Next within the two year mark, two of my 4 sticks of RAM failed. They sent me a new 4 stick kit and within another year 2 more failed. I'm still using 2 of theirs, but when these go out I'll buy another brand. Only good thing I bought was their keyboards, but I switched to Dygma anyways. Oh and a friend had bought a 2019 Aventum PC from digital storm and his corsair power supply went bad in 2022. So, yeah. I'm never buying Corsair again. Customer service wasn't bad, but that was a lot of money for shitty product. Everything else I've bought is still going strong.

My new rig was built in a Corsair 5000T case, one of the case fans came connected incorrectly (only 2 pins connected). RGB worked but fan didn't spin. Connected it properly, fan spins & RGB works but fan doesn't show up to the system to adjust fan curves. Great. Powered the rig with an RM1000e PSU. 4 days into use the PSU died. Will not provide any power to the mobo. Killed the Corsair RAM I had installed too. No idea if it's killed/damaged anything else (storage, CPU, GPU) so my brand new 7800X3D/4090 system is just sitting in pieces while I wait for my RMA to finish so I can re-build my system and test everything else. At which point I guess I just hope I can get any other damaged items replaced under warranty. I guess I also just hope that my second PSU doesn't decide to blow as well because I don't really want to have to drop another ~$300-400NZD on another PSU. Do. Not. Buy. Corsair.

You pretty much said everything here. To add on competition, gaming-centered brand appeal is just not the same anymore. When it comes to peripherals like keyboards, mouse, mic, headphones. The majority of the good ones are not from gaming company and it is advised to actually avoid them. It is especially so when it comes to mic and headphone, studio stuff are just plain better. The competition on best gaming mouse is absolutely insane, and keyboards? I can't even begin to start just how MANY wonderful mechanical keyboards out there. Got a replacement for a an RM1000i because it had a problem with the current inrush protection causing sparks when turning psu on. I was upgraded to one of their newer RM1000 units, and I had no receipt at all. I actually bought the psu second hand and still got a replacement. At no extra cost at all. I think that’s pretty good customer service. Also, while iCue isn’t perfect, you can do a lot with it, more than the average user would need to.

Currently my PSU, fans, AIO, RAM, mouse, and keyboard are all Corsair. A large part of it is so I can use iCUE to run everything rather then having different software to run everything. They have had some flops for sure but no other brand covers enough components to run on one controller program. If I chose to not use Corsair then I would be running NZXT's CAM for my AIO and fans, MSI Mystic Light for my RGB and Razer Synapse for my mouse and keyboard. That would use up much more resources then just running iCUE alone. I do not use their headsets though as I use studio quality mics and headphones / speakers and their monitors dont have any real benefits to go with them over anything else other then looking at each monitor objectively so I have an LG.

I had (have, it's still in a drawer somewhere) a Corsair Scimitar MMO mouse. Most MMO 12 key mice you find on the market have the default thumb buttons mapped 1234567890-=, but the scimitar's defaults are whacky seemingly random keyboard keys. This means to get a meaningful experience out of it you HAVE to program it with the Corsair software. If you have troubles with the software, the software ever becomes unavailable, or you have to reset the mouse, it will essentially become unusable. The K70 keyboard is still a'choochin though.

I've had a Corsair infrastructure on my main rig for a long while. Of course I got all the stuff I have now in 2016-2018 so there are a few things that are different now. I do know they've changed things up so require far fewer cords and it's easy to minimize wires in general with their new modular system- I do like theire new infrastructure but they haven't really changed much other than that over the Years. I still have the old stuff- spent quite a bit on it. I've never had any problems at all with my setup and iCue has never been a problem for me and I do actually like iCue (relatively speaking- it's the best 3rd party rgb software I've used, I've tested quite a few over the years), but that may be due to the hardware I'm using being their last gen stuff. On my next rig I'm probably not going with them just because there's way better products that look better now- they used to be the top stuff, but now they just blend in with a lot of other competitors that do a better job at a cheaper price. I think Corsair's main problem: everyone else caught up to them and they haven't really changed. They should start making metal fans- I think that's maybe the next step up quality wise which hasn't been taken by many companies yet. I do still love Corsair but they're just too expensive since the competition has caught up and Corsair is still at premium prices. I still think Corsair is great but they are having a lot of different challenges at the same time. It is a bit their fault though, they got lazy and didn't keep innovating when they had the Crown. Intel did that with their tik-tok quad cores until AMD caught up and now Intel is playing catch-up in a similar way. Don't stagnate just because you're on top!

I've only had one Corsair product, and that was a recent attempt to install an H60X RGB Elite AIO. The standoffs that they supplied for AMD were threaded differently than what I had to work with. They fit the thumbnuts but not the cpu backplate, different threads. The standoffs also held the pump too far away to make contact with the cpu. I emailed Corsair to ask for help. It took two days for their first response, then 3 days for their second. Their third response, four days later, was simply to tell me to contact my computer manufacturer. I took that as "You're on your own", so I packed everything up in the box that it came in and returned it to them. A few days later, I get an email saying that since they hadn't heard from me in 5 days, they would be closing the ticket. This was a little confusing, since they had already told me to seek help elsewhere, which I took as the kiss of death from them. I responded to that email and told them that I had already returned the product and thanked them for not being able to help with their product.

Yeah, had bit of a mixed bag with corsair over the years. Main compliant is the software. Anything not using that bloat ware ique is fine. PSUs, older cases and NON rgb ram or fans pretty good still have all in my builds and fans. Last year I had to use my k57 in default mode for months. The softer kept crashing, not starting at boot and worst of reconnecting and disconnecting the device randomly in a loop....forcing a hard reset and losing work. Also meant not having macro keys nothing. Only reason I baught it. (Yes I know u can manually program them but I used multiple profiles depending on the task.) Which effectively made it a rainbow barf coloured basic input device. Got lucky that it got "fixed" after reverting to an older ique version. Well at the disconnect and reconnect. Still randomly fails to start with boot.

I know Corsair and some of its products. Their PSUs are still recommended tho not much as some other brands. What everyone recommends and almost always has a good review is, Corsair Vengeance RAM. So popular to the point I barely see anyone flexing their PC builds without a Corsair Vengeance RAM. Well I wanted to buy one for my first PC build, but it is $30-40 more expensive than other RAM choices of same specs, so I chose Apacer. I don't regret my RAM choice, but to this day I hardly ever see bad reviews about Corsair Vengeance. If Corsair wants to survive, I think it's about time they shed all other products save for its PSU and RAM, and maintain those two before it's too late.

My Corsair PSU RMA experience just this year was nothing short of excellent. I don't think other companies could emulate the ease with which I ordered an advanced RMA where I provided evidence of the fault within the form and I received a replacement within a matter of days, no ifs, no buts. Despite that, I have heard of issues with their iCue software from people that I know so this is something folks reading this can avoid or find better alternatives to. I don't think Corsair can be put in to the same breath as Asus, but they should get competent software peeps to redo the software issues that have been reported, this would instill confidence back in to the whole RGB element of their brand.

Also have had their H115i Pro since 2016 and it is still running strong (knock on wood). On my AM5 platform I don’t have their RAM anymore, but still their AIO, PSU, Keyboard, Mouse, and several fans… I have never had much a reason to complain about them. Based on my good experiences there, I tried a Corsair headset, and let me tell you, never again. Snapped within the first year and I had to fight Corsair tooth and nail. Insisted the damage was my fault and not a defect. With Logitech, sure I've had a few products fail on me under warranty, but every single time I've made one 20 minute phone call to support and had a brand new replacement on my door step in a week, no questions asked. And in this day in age, if any company can't provide that level of support for their projects, they're not gonna last IMO.

Personally I’ve always liked Corsair products and still use them for everything (pc hardware, accessories) My biggest complaint, especially since I got my link H150i is that the software nonstop crashes or stalls. Sometimes I’ll boot up my pc and my pump will refuse to work until icue boots. Sometimes the software will crash, and corrupt requiring a repair by reinstalling icue, leaving me with zero lighting and suboptimal fan curves and noise. It’s really frustrating, especially when the icue corrupts itself, it can happen at any time. I can be in a CS2 match clutching and suddenly I don’t have keybinds, or my EQ settings. I’ve attempted to get around this using hardware saves, however, I swear their hardware saves don’t work either. Some of the settings save, but some don’t.

Returned it and have avoided their headsets since. Had an AIO that would rattle something fierce, but it worked for the most part. It was bad enough though that I could hear it through my headset when it ramped up. Narrowed it down to a fan and realized after replacing what I thought was the culprit that there was just a design issue somewhere. This doesn't give me hope for Fanatec, if that deal actually goes through.

Second resond and the biggest issue with corsair. The parts are designe to be in an closed ecosystem like appel. RGB Fans you just can controll with I Cue and special controllers.

I experienced that RAM causing BSOD issue once. Funny enough I was just using it for about a week then it does that, but warranty service is great.

I'm lucky enough I got my corsair ram pre pandemic. So when I had issues they swapped them out. Their fans and fan controller have thankfully always worked for me. For how much it cost I'd be livid too if they started malfunctioning

True that, RAM cost went to space after it by some god damn reason, even old stuff.
