okay I’m honestly so done with the people saying BTS paved the way. They did not. Girls Generation , SHINee , BoA , Jesy , PSY , ( the movie 200 Pound Beauty with the iconic song Maria) , and so SO many other artists have paved the way to allow kpop to reach other countries. By saying BTS paved the way , it is an insult to the hard work and suffering of these wonderful singers. It is because of all these artists and many more from the past that BTS was able to become famous internationally so quickly. While I admit that BTS is one of the groups that popularised Kpop , in no way have they paved the way. Do not insult the hard work of these artist please , and do some research before you comment ignorant things. BTS is not the only group in kpop or what started kpop. He left his former company and made his own to bring in amazing artists and let them stay true to themselves rather than suppress their creative style for mainstream purposes. No kpop idol nor group will top what psy has done. His song has literally been listened to nearly everyone in the world, first music artist worldwide to reach 1 billion views on KZbin, fastest artist (not sure worldwide) to reach 1 billion views just 1 month, preformed on capital and went international making the western media interested in kpop and he started, was most streamed artists worldwide till charli puth and wiz took over. Gangam style alone has 13.3 billion views on all platforms last recored not long before the song was released. The impact he did for kpop was like no other not just kpop the music industry u can go up to any artist cardi b, Nicki and all and they will know psy and gangam style that's how great he was and I truly believe if it wasn't for him kpop wouldn't have survived this long cause he blew up the internet. I don't think YG will ever get that kind of idol back again lol

Living in China, I don't think anyone thought of him as a one hit wonder. His popularity just continued on after Gangnam Style. BTW, if you've never been to Gangnam, it is absolutely worth a trip. So much amazing food there. Also amazing shopping if you have the dosh.

I really hope Psy and P nation do really well, while I'm loving the rabbit hole that is Kpop. I do find it disturbing how controlled idols are, by their record labels and most of these artists being young. Not getting the chance to enjoy that youth, really doesn't sit well with me. So I hope these artists do well on their own terms, it will be a big homage to Psy to see them shine.

Kia ora Nathan, to introduce myself, Im a Māori from NZ and I find this is a very interesting vlog. Yes I'm also one who wondered about where is Phy now...Hes actually such an amazing character and I love the fact he's built his own agency that offers an alternative one for artists, that goes against the grain in Korea. He's championing what he believes in. For the past 5 or 6 years I've seen KPop gradually taking hold of the teenage kids at the local schools and in our small community of about only 15k people. I guess starting with Gangham Style it became a natural progression. True, the kids dont even know the language, what the group's like Uniq, BTS or Black Pink are singing about but they know the words lol. I know these idols are not all Korean but the kids really love the music and do the dance moves. Maybe one day the whole world will be speaking a universal language through a music which will encapsulates all cultures. Thanks for your channel. I've subscribed for more docos like this👍Peace
