don't listen to what they are telling u....the writers are crying about $11,000 a week is not enough for them, and there is not enough writers in the room... well how can there be when every single show they put out is trash...from who? those same writers complaining, but writing terrible scripts.......networks have agreed to up their pay to $14k a week and thats was not enough!.....its like asking for a damn raise during the worst time while a company is fighting for it's life because everything they put out is trash and not good quality, they losing money left and right because streaming is a terrible business model... Sure u can blame networks in the past for years during the TV days, about how they were being greedy....but u arent the one putting up the production cost are u? no they are.....whos taking the networks or the writers? truthfully how tf is $11k not enough money?......this is really about wga not making enough money, because network arent hiring enough writers and they want to use writers as a pawn of leverage to negotiate and get what they want....the union is trying to use writers, if u wat to blame someone blame them....they are the reason u cant work right now and collect $11k a week...becuz the union feel its too little of pay on the writers behalf......im sure writers would love that money, but they dont know the union is f'n them over. this is the worst time to be part of the union how about this writers.......write better s**t and you can have more writers room...the union have pissed off networks and now they will wait until y'all get desperate and lose everything....when all u had to so was accept the upgrade to $14k a week.....they cant get more writers in the room.....not until you writers put out better quality work.

I won't tolerate it, I have cancelled all streaming services and have gone back to the high seas. Can you imagine if this happened with music? Where Artist X was on Spotify, Y on Apple, Z on Tidal and so on, it would not be tolerated. I joined Netflix in 2011 and got to experience the simple era in which they were the one stop for all streaming needs. What I didn't know was that it I got in on the tail end of streaming peace. In a few years the wars began. I watched in horror as the shows and movies I loved, the reasons I became a Netflix member, disappeared from the platform. I was forced to join more streaming services in order to continue having access to a wide variety of content. One studio however did not join the war. There is no Sony Plus because Sony is smart enough to know that licensing their content is more profitable than taking on the huge expense that comes with operating a streaming service. The current streaming model is not sustainable. Eventually there will be casualties. At some point the individual streaming platforms will be consolidated into one bundle and if that happens maybe there will once again be peace in the streaming world.

Well done. The one thing that all content creators are missing is the fact that having a big screen TV is way more feasible. Before flat screens a big screen TV was a commitment to a bulky piece of furniture you did not want to move around. The number of even low income Americans with a TV 60 inches and above is quite high. Would be good to hear more on this as a factor.

They already got a deal that agreed with everything but that point. With the quality of writing being produced lately it would be better for the writers to starve and for the studios to go wholely to chatgpt. The AI would make better films.

Being someone who is probably older than most of your viewers, I love the tv & movies from the 50's - 80's. The movies, especially from the 70's, are almost impossible to find anywhere. I refuse to pay for a streaming service that doesn't carry at least a selection of them. I'd almost rather stick with cable, which is my streaming for news and basic cable channels. These big global mega corps are and never will be happy with making millions to billions in profit every year. The see that they must reach the forever stupid aim of "infinite growth". Services/products will often start out nice, cheaper or fair. Then slowly service elements, features and the like will be removed and put behind further paywalls. One-time fees will soon become subscription model only. And these subscriptions too, will rise in price and if you choose to stay at the bottom, then be prepared to say hello to ads once again.

I get it that the writers need to be paid better for their work but you have to realized that the companies who pay for these type of movies and series are the ones risking their money. If the product being produced sucks, the writers and actors wont even care about it because they already got paid. The bottom line is, networks or companies will always take the hit and most often than not, they will lose money because not all shows are created equal and thats a fact.

It's not really they don't want to pay nobody residuals they literally can't afford it because they green light so many shows that really wasn't making money So the problem is they've been losing more money paying these actors and writers then gaining money because let's be honest a lot of these shows that was greenlit on the streaming services were not paying them you know without any ads or anything supporting these shows or whatever a lot of these shows are literally losing the streaming services money back in the day when it first started where it wasn't that many streaming services Yeah they probably could have paid residuals or whatever but nowadays no they really can't and then let's be honest their actors and writers and producers aren't helping themselves when they make awful dog crap shows and insult the fans and be like it's not for you okay great if it's not for me then I'm not going to watch it and without the watch time they can't really rack up in revenue. The problem is they use the pandemic as a thing like oh my God we're getting all these views and money and whatever because people were sitting at home at the time not realizing that this was going to always crash every studio every network needs to streaming service No absolutely not The problem with streaming services is there is a overbundance of streaming services not enough quality there's more quantity than quality and that's why nobody's watching me and therefore they couldn't even pay them residuals because if people found out that a lot of the shows that people think we're making money or a lot of shows that were quote unquote popular or being pushed on us really a lot of people aren't watching them that's the truth.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but I don't see having one streaming service as the solution, as in the end that monopoly will become all controlling and prices will go up. I think the elephant in the room that you failed to grasp was that back when Netflix streamed Marvel content was it wasn't seen as a studio in its own right, even though it funds its Netflix Originals (it had to go protect itself going forward from being cut off). The problem as I see it is these big movie studios wanting to cut out the middle man and keep all the profit for itself and I don't see this model working, not with the amount of money they are throwing at this. Having a few streaming platforms that buy content from the studios is a great better model and whilst to have 2 or 3 that we can dip in and out of, binging as we go, is a far better model. Competition is what is needed but these big corporations act more like cartels than competitors, they want to go on doing what they've always done without any thought of having to keep prices under control because if all studios own their own streaming platforms there can be no new entrants to the market, which in any competitive market keeps all players on their feet and on their game.

Agree with your statement, I wasn’t saying it’s the solution rather something we may see in the future. I don’t see all of these streaming platforms staying here that long. So you’re right about the studios acting like cartels rather than competitors and Netflix is looking like the ring leader of the streaming monopoly.

Well yeah. Streaming is based on artificial competition. In an actual competitive market, prices drop to compete with another product. But what is happening here is companies compete with buying exclusivity. They aren’t making a nicer shirt, they are buying out certain types of shirts so nobody else can make them. So if you want that type of shirt, you have nowhere else to go.

I love that your bleep at the beginning didn’t even work. 😂 Besides that funny moment, I wholeheartedly agree with this. We all thought that they were supposed to stand up to the greedy cable and satellite TV industry. But… corporations, no matter in which nature, always show their true, greedy capitalistic face. 🤷🏽‍♂️

You can’t have it both ways. The streaming platforms aren’t profitable , and people need to be paid more. Also if you don’t want AI to lower costs, one of these is going to have to give

For some to be paid more, some others must be paid less and that's not going to happen easily. I hate the fact that "movie stars" get all the attention and money while for the enjoyment of a good content (at least in my view) it's enough to have a few things: great writing, good acting, good camera angles and decent production. The best content i've seen in the last 4-6 years is basically unknown actors, small studios but people who do their job with passion and produce original, coherent work. Start paying the writers the big bucks, the great cinematographers, reduce corporate profit. Oh and last but not least STOP making films/shows for illiterate and 2min attention span teenagers for the love of good content! but all that of course is a pipe dream and all I can do in the meantime is watch some goodies but oldies and filter new content by quality and most of all vote with my wallet.

Since 2019, I have completely stopped going to movie theatres. There are three main reasons: 1. Ticket prices have gone through the roof. It's much, much cheaper to watch a streaming service. 2. It's very inconvenient (driving, parking, washroom breaks). 3. It's less comfortable than watching at home on my sofa. Movie theatres have one main advantage: a very large screen with powerful surround sound. But that's not enough to overcome the above three reasons.

First of all, how can the producers share the profits with the writers when there are no profits? The biggest problem is that people don't want to pay for content. Cable got 'too expensive' so people cut the cord. Streaming services tried to raise prices to fund the production of content so people shared passwords. It costs billions to produce the content people want, but people expect it for free or extremely cheap. If you're not willing to pay for content, how do you expect them to continue to produce it? Or be able to pay more to the people working on it? Before streaming you actually had to go to the store and buy a physical copy of a movie. At $10-20 a piece. Or rent one for $1-4. Now you scoff at paying $15/month to watch as many as you want. Movies and shows don't just fall out of the sky. You need to pay for what you want or don't complain when the services or quality suffer.

Now all of them are either trying to break into the gaming industry (you know where it's growing 10x faster than passive movie/TV entertainment). Or they want to sponge off successful video game IPs.

I say this to every single person who post videos like the one you’re posting get yourself an android box, called a super box. They also have other names, and you’ll have every channel in the world for free every single movie in the world for free even once in the theaters and you don’t have to worry about streaming services it’ll cut the whole middleman out.

People who make films and shows we enjoy should be paid in perpetuity for their work? As long as people use it? I love this idea! I work in construction. Its very low pay and very hard work but I think it will be worth it if I can continue to get paid as long as people live in the unit. Can you follow up on a video on why construction workers should get residuals? What we provide is actually essential after all.

Why I cut off streaming A. Cost literally could buy 10 movies which I know I’ll watch for the cost of the services I once thought I could live without B. Confusion of what is on what C. Things disappearing, or can’t finding what I want and having to buy on Movjes Anywhere Vudu D. Disney and HBOMax not having what I wanted from them. Little seen golden gems instead only the biggest movies they had in their ownership. Then when little gems like say planet of the apes live action tv series it was far and few inbetween E. Some franchises not being able to stream all in one place ie Scream or halloween
