I didn't go over every single game/creator I've featured over the years, that would have taken too long and many there's nothing to new to report on anyway. But this is a pretty exhaustive (and exhausting) list. I hope you enjoy this look back at five years of Triple Eye, and enjoy the next five years!

Thanks for this! This is what makes your channel special. You don’t usually see game journalists follow up and research with smaller teams and games. You know, like an actual journalist.

as someone who was very interested in robot champions (and very recently went into a rabbit hole trying to track down what happened to it) i have a couple updates on how prospect games is doing. first of all the rebrand from robot champions to smashpunks from what i understand had very little to do with player feedback and a lot more to do with an internal desire for the game to chase more mainstream appeal. the sport of robot combat is pretty niche after all. that kind of killed any excitement i had for the project and it seems i wasn't alone as things went radio silent past that. the next major update i can find is about eight months after the game's rebrand in april 2022 when it was announced on the studio's patreon that prospect games had shut down. the founder rebranded the patreon and discord to "enemy team", and while they originally expressed interest in continuing with smashpunks, it was eventually canceled as well. enemy team would release a game in early access in january of this year, a vr spider-man type thing named webshooters, but there have been no updates since february and the discord is entirely dormant.

The real issue is when these indie devs start making money and suddenly the game takes for ever to make or never finishes, the deltagal guy has been taking koffi moeny for years and the eartboundtale guy too

I definitely like this format I really think that in game development, most failures happen in silence and for indie devs, honestly successes do too The world of indie development is so huge that even someone who actively searches for games like these have only heard of half of them I think more people should really cover the progress of projects, but then again, people barely cover finished games anymore lol Hopefully at least DeltaGal can get finished

I thought Longtail was still in development, judging by their YT shorts and updates. Might be older than I thought.

Damn, everyone from Poi went on to have great success! Who would’ve thought. Sad it’s mostly game unrelated.

I hope Bubsy comes back. Paws on Fire was terrible, but Woolies Stirke Back was great, and they built up a lot of Hype back then with a Bubsy twitter account constantly posting in character. I hope we get the 4 OG games ported over to modern consoles, and a new game, hopefully a 3D Platformer.

Sadly making a game takes a lot of time, and sometimes it feels like a gamble. Majority of those devs work by themselves in their free time, and is kinda normal to suffer from feature/content creep, and going overbudget. Huge respects for those who managed to release their dream game despite all that, especially since you never know if your game is going to be a "hit", or if 5years of dev will end in nothing.

I am kinda sad that you went back over Yooka-Laylee, but never mentioned The Impossible Lair. It's a surprisingly good platformer in the same vein as Donkey Kong Country, and I hear absolutely _nobody_ talk about it!

I obviously have no idea how other devs feel. But personally i think I would probably drop all development of my own indie game if i ended up getting a job where i had to travel a lot. There's just so much more to see outside the screen and the love for my art only goes as far as the love for my life around it. Sometimes you can find closure in an unfinished chapter, Especially if you've already started reading a new book...... Also. It is 1 in the morning as I'm writing this and I'm dying.
