wow! I have to admit I was skeptical that was going to work but it looks like you've got around 15 new starts of the Ensete. Great job, glad it worked.

Also a novice but I watched the video of you cutting the banana and noticed that as you sliced it in half, you were off centre, so to speak and I wonder if that's why two sections didn't do so well, because the lions share of the central point went to one side? Just a suggestion, I have no idea myself, but thought I would mention it xxx

We sometimes forget how powerful and ingenious nature’s will to procreate is. Those vigorous banana shoots demonstrate this phenomenon. ~ What fun to get healthy seedlings from such exotic species. It’s always extra satisfying to grow a plant from seed to maturity. ~ P.S. - Your Lithops looks plump and happy.

Was amazed when I saw you "butchering "😊 the banana. I have bananas, no clue as to the species. We live in zone 7 in US. I mulch heavily in fall and so far they have made in through the winters. They reproduce very well and I have been able to share with any who like them. We now have 3 areas in our yard with the little banana groves. Thank you for the variety of information you furnish. I enjoy visiting your channel. Never know what you can learn.

I had a prolific Musa basjoo in the garden in my old house. Now I just have a Musella lasiocarpa that I have to overwinter in the greenhouse. I am going to try and grow some Musa paradisiaca, Musa sikkimensis and Protea cynaroides seeds this year. Fingers crossed.

Thank-you for all your great videos. I have a quick question about your center flower bed that I'm seeing through your window. How do you do your edges without getting grass clippings in the flower bed. I have landscape bricks around my flower bed but I definitely prefer the look of yours without the bricks. Thank-you in advance...look forward to your response.

Thank you for watching and admiring my edges. I am glad you admire them as they are a lot of work. I cut them once a year manually with a half-moon edger and lift the pieces. After that the edges get mowed on top with the hand lawn mower whenever the grass is cut. I hand pull any pieces that stick down the side, usually when weeding or tending the border. I'm afraid I have no clever or quick solution.

Enjoyed seeing this. Bananas are very resilient plants. Why don't you put the two smaller plants back in the grow box? I grow Musa bananas for fruit. It is so rewarding to see the plant produce an inflorescence. And, leaving those bananas to ripen on the plant so that they develop sugars longer. They are delicious! Thanks for your videos.

Ah, you are lucky to have a climate where musa will readily produce fruit. Enjoy. I could put the two pots back in the propagator but how many bananas do I really need! 😊

Where did you get the seeds. Watch the pots.... Usually the bulb does turn to mush..at least mine do. They are outside. Bought 2 about 5 years ago they have turned into 20 plus plants get about 15 plus feet high..looks like a jungle..until frost. You will be giving plants away..😀also found some seeds on EBay

I have a guess about why the other two didn't do as great💡 I noticed when you sliced them up into quarters they weren't equal quarters, but four pieces. Now don't take this as a criticism or the wrong way. The middle portion was divided in two pieces first but one side had more than the other side... So maybe that's why two of them had more material than the other two to grow from the middle white part if it makes any sense what I'm trying to say?...

Thanks for your video! I’m going to try to do this myself, but I’m still unsure of the care that they require before they sprout. Do you think it’s possible for this to work without a propagator? Do they need light or no light? Should I leave them in front of a window or under full spectrum LED’s? By the way, how big did they grow over the summer? :)
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 5 жыл бұрын
Hi there. The plants were put into a transparent box on a heat mat, as mentioned at the end of the video. They need light. Mine were by a window, not under LED's. I don't know if it will work without heat. I would say it would be hit or miss. Check out the third video in the series, linked at the end of this one, to see how they grew over the summer.
