I think Tommy was smart enough to see the writing on the wall of the drug game and eventually got out of it. He had several legit businesses such as a taxi cab business, movie studio, car dealership, the Malibu Club, strip club, etc., just by the end of 1986 or 87. With a large amount of revenue coming in from those sources (and maybe other purchases since), he would not need the drug money anymore and retired from the game. At least that's how I always saw it...

I read somewhere that Tommy was originally supposed to appear in GTA San Andreas, but as to what his role in the game was or how big is anyone's guess, i assume he would have appeared in the intro to San Andreas as a cameo when Ken called him after getting out of rehab. I doubt he would have had any interaction with CJ, considering he is against the kind of business that Tommy is the boss of, maybe Big Smoke though.

Damn, it's a big shame you don't have the source anymore. If that would be something official like it's been mentioned in the article or an interview, it would be very beneficial to this topic. But again, it's really hard to determine what Tommy's role in GTA San Andreas was initially supposed to be. What we can be certain of, however, is that prolly everything related to it was scrapped at the very early stage of development which could be the case there is no evidence of this.

Franklin mentioned that Grove Street Gang existed in GTAV but it's not the same Grove Street Gang in GTA San Andreas. The same with different Mafia Families and Gangs in GTA3/LCS and GTAIV 3/LCS had gangs like Cartel and Yakuza. Meanwhile 4 had Triads, Russian/Irish/Albanian Gangs, Biker Gangs and a lot more. Easter Eggs about Tommy will definitely be in 6 but obviously he wont be in it and since Rockstar likes to mix characters in both the 3D and HD universe games. They could introduce a character with a last name Vercetti but has no relation to Tommy.

Well, thanks to that Shine'O'Vice mod, which the mod picks back to The sunny vice city, is that Tommy is still alive, and still making history after taking over Vice city, Shine o vice, a mod part of GTA vice city takes place in 1987 shows that Tommy is still there, but you'll have to complete a first set of missions in order to see Tommy again.

Yeah, that might be the case. But I presume Florida is being called out here since it's a state. GTA Vice City shows only Vice City, the real-life equivalent of Miami and it was also supposed to contain Gator Keys (based on the Florida Keys), but besides that, that's it. GTA 3 only shows Liberty City which is why New York is not mentioned. But I will tell you something interesting, both Miami and Vice City coexist in the 3D universe and we know about this thanks to the website of Francis International where some of the flight destinations include both Miami and Vice City.

My headcanon is that he is the exact opposite of Tony Montana in Scarface. He survived the mansion shootout, his crime empire grow bigger and bigger, he became the biggest drug kingpin in Vice City, have a happy family with a respectful woman and two kids. That's also when he cut communication with Ken Rosenberg because he choose to leave the life of crime behind since he is quite old now and he already got all the money he needed for a peaceful life. Then he eventually died of old age before the events of GTA 4, which kinda rebooted the whole franchise but i don't care.

Gta 5 has a random encounter. You run into his Daughter if you help her she tells you her dad was big in vice city. After helping her a little while later you get 100k and an email from tommy telling you thank you and more about him and so on

Sonny phone calls are iconing in GTA Vice City games. In case of the fate for Tommy Vercetti fate he was either arrested by the police after the events of the game, or maybe even killed by Claude Speed. I think that Claude could get an idea to move into Vice City from Ray Machowski after each gang in Liberty City wanted him dead. Ps. Maybe Tommy even make contact with Mike from GTA Advance.

Interesting thoughts! Still, I have to underline that we have Claude in GTA 3 and Claude Speed in GTA 2, so Tommy being killed by Claude Speed can be easily ruled out. And as far as Claude is concerned, sure it would be a good idea for him to leave town after the majority of gangs hate him out there.

The reason why Tommy appearence was "canned" was because Ray Liota doesn't like his role in gta vice city, so they just don't even bother put him in.

He was one of the smartest protagonists in this, he though ahead of the game and knew that the drug and criminal empire is just not worth it and rather contribute his time and effort into legitimate businesses that can’t be taken down and can make as much or more money than the drug trade but at least with these new straight businesses he can’t be charged with anything so he is free to work without worry about cops ever again

Ray Liotta died in 2022,GTA 6 takes place in the HD Universe,a different timeline to Gta Vice City,they already changed the lore where in GTA 5 It's said that some italian mobster from Gta 4 named Sammy Bottino ruled the east coast(where Vice City is located) in the 80s and 90s

One thing that I think GTA never did it well was to connect the stories in the game. For example all we get from Nico in GTA 5 is a one line mention and that's it. I understand the spotlight must be on the protagonists but would do no harm to extend or give us a mission where we get to know more about a character we grew to love in the earlier games. The only true ending from an earlier protagonist we ever got in a later game was Johnny Klebitz death in GTA V by Trevor's hands. I actually enjoyed it how they introduced Trevor and it became my fav character from all games alongside with Tommy Vercetti still on top of the list ( RIP great Ray Liotta ). I wish they could do this to all of them.

With GTA 6 releasing in 1-2 years, i can probably say that he'll play a part of the story since vice city is confirmed to be a part of the map, even if he was dead when GTA 6 happens since we don't know when the timeline of GTA 6 will happen, his empire will probably have influence in vice city, if not, then his empire is most likely gone or it hasn't happened yet, but i think he's going to be a part of the GTA 6 story, even if it just a side missions.-.
