He was one of the most criminally under supported QB's in his time. Having a couple of pro bowlers on the team doesn't take away from the fact that the defense was consistently one of the worst in the game by the numbers and the offensive line was for the vast majority of his career a sieve. Pro bowl is a popularity contest in anyone thinking otherwise is a smooth brain. It's a shame that the offensive line only got good when he was already broken from years of taking a beating. And a lot of those big game losses came down to the fact that the defense couldn't stop a pop warner team. Saying he wasn't a great I think is subjective. especially when you consider the only reason most say he is not is the big games or the playoffs. Go look at some playoff performances of guys we consider to be great QBs like Warren moon and then tell me we are applying the same standard. Love your channel and keep all the content coming especially now with everything being on pause.

Thank you. When he had just a little bit of talent around him, they looked great. He never had a good defense.. The man would throw 400+yards, 4 TDs, and then have to come back and win in the last minute.. More than often, he would win. (Look up the stats, most 4th qrtr comebacks of all time). Other times he would throw an INT (of course.. The Defense knows you have to pass. They know you have to hit the sidelines to save time) He shouldn't have to come back to win every other game in the 4th quarter.. Ugghhh.. I wish we woulda had him healthy for 2 more years. That reversed call hurt my soul. Years of defending my guy week after week and any time I was in a bar and someone asked me about my Cowboys swag. 2014 was THE year to silence all the critics. In Lambeau vs the NFL Golden Boy and MVP and he did everything he could to pull it off but they robbed him. No one remembers trailing 20-7 late in the playoff game the week before when Romo brought them back to win. No one remembers that Demarco Murray fumbled with nothing but green in front of him, or that the ball bounced into Randall Cobb's hands on a third down conversion in the first half of this game. They remember that Dez 'didn't' catch it and Romo and the Boys went home with an L. If that call is upheld, and Cowboys can't punch it in, or they do, and Rodgers pulls off a late game winning drive, fine. But to have it end that way and have it ripped from them was garbage.

Facts you speaking I always bring this up when defending him. Also his o line that was old and getting beat alot making our boy rush into his signature spin move or pump fake spin move that alot of these QB stole from him. People didn't realize how good Romo was at pump faking defenders. Darren Woodson spoke on this when Romo was a 4th string on the scout team. Running the opposition offense. Made him had fits because of the pump fake and alway made the right read. My best friend defend gladly because we look at his whole situation. Dak got his end result of building around him. I hate Dak that's who average he's inaccurate always throwing behind or high over head of the wr. Dak ball placements on alot route are off throw the wrong throw on routes. Tony Romo's story is one I would show to my kid, for grit, determination, belief in yourself and a work ethic that doesn't quit. Not to mention how to handle yourself as a professional when everything is going wrong around you. That's how he went from undrafted to one of the top QBs in the league for the biggest sports franchise in the country. He like many others prove that your draft pick does not speak to your ability, you put in the work and earn those stripes and when you get your shot, you make the most of it.

Nope. Cowboys are media darlings. That partly because they are the most popular team. And that is partly due to the image the world has of America, western movies, and a cowboy being the mascot. But, Romo was a good qb. But he was never to the level that the league wanted him to be from a marketing stand point. Never to the level that corporations wanted from a marketing stand point. And never to the level cowboy fans wanted from an image stand point. Bill Parcells said at one point he wasn't sure if he wanted to be a great q or a celebrity qb. Other players on defense from other teams felt he thought he was better than he was. Romo was like Jeff Garcia. A good qb, but not considered great. But nobody was going to say when is Jeff Garcia going to take the 49ers to the super bowl because of where he was and where he was. And he wasn't on the level that is going to take a team to the length that a Marino could with the same team. And his reputation or legacy is hurt by as soon as he because the starter, then it was endorsement deals all over the place. Not because of what he did on the field, but because he was a commodity being the next starting cowboy qb. And yes, they prefer them to be a white guy. So he didn't suck. He wasn't great. He was good. Like a Jeff Garcia. Who nobody thinks about. But nobody says he sucks either.

Consider this "great" resume by TR: - 37 games missed b/c of injury (or 2 1/3 YEARS!) - A 2-7 record in elimination games with 12 TDs to 12 TOs (not including the TO in that Seattle PO game). - The 2 biggest blown leads in Dallas history - In his final 5 games in 2006 with PO seeding on the line: 6 TDs to 10 TOs - In his final 3 games in 2007 with PO seeding on the line: 1 TD to 5 TOs - In 2012, the only time he actually passed the ball a lot, he finished: 1st in Ints; 3rd in Pick-sixes; 22nd in Int.%; 19th in Y/C; league average in TD% - NEVER carried a bad team to the playoffs - Did not finish in the Top 10 of ANY counting stat - In his playoff and Pro Bowl years (06, 07, 09, 14) he had 33 Pro Bowlers and 9 All-Pros playing behind him. IOW, when he wasn't on loaded teams he did nothing - 60 PBs, 12 APs, 2 HOFers, 1 future HOFer, 2 All- Decade team members playing behind him and ONLY 2 PO wins. - 3 years eligible for the HOF and has yet to make it to the semi-finals So, yes he did suck. Yes! That is my MF QB! I always wanted to see Romo duel off with Brady in the superbowl I really believed he could've won it too

He grew up in my town. Burlington,Wi. Good guy and does stuff for the kids 👍

What happened to him is he broke in to broadcasting and stole the whole show....but he should have a superbowl. Shame smh

Broke... By no means... He made nearly a $100 million dollars playing for the Cowboys before he started broadcasting...

Having been a cowboy fan my whole life, I’ve never heard the narrative that he wanted to be a celebrity more than a quarterback.

That was the most compelling argument for Tony Romo that I have ever heard. I definitely see him in a better light. Props to the both of you.

I grew up on tony romo, and he was honestly great. Just at the end he started falling off

Haha he wasn't great but he was pretty good he was good at getting stats but his hole life he just wasn't a winner sorry
@kennethbryant58194 жыл бұрын
honestly, no. No, he didn't. If anything, he was getting better. Injuries just broke him down and they went with the younger, healhier Dak Prescott.
@paulcarr59184 жыл бұрын
What the hell backwards world do you live in? His last full year he was putting up MVP type numbers, with fractured bones in his back.

Tony Romo would be a legend , but Jason Garrett held him back.

I see no lies here. Romo’s career was wasted cause of substandard coaching and lack of supporting cast.

Had they put him back in 2016 season I believe cowboys would have had 6th ring maybe 7th with that team O- line and running back

I never followed Romo's Cowboys career but I do know he's one of the best NFL announcers out there. Thanks for the great recap on his career. You are by far my fave sports dude on KZbin, so damn well researched and insightful. 💯💯💯

CT COWBOYS let’s get real, Trump envies the wall of an offensive line he had that season
@johnpollock10834 жыл бұрын
@@RedRaiderLobo20 and? He took advantage of it. He was pretty much flawless that season...1st in every qb category. Should've been MVP.

John Pollock, not doubting that! I’m a Romo defender. That was more of a statement about that offensive line.

The way Romo predicts plays and calls is seriously impressive and scarily accurate.
@ryanmitchell42663 жыл бұрын
11:00 - play before Patrick Crayton pulled up on what would have been a gimme touchdown. The INT in the end zone was 4th down with Romo under pressure from the pass rush, a desperation throw vs taking a sack
