Tony Romo had a long career with the Dallas Cowboys filled with a few highly publicized bad moments. That overshadowed an otherwise really solid career.

One of my favorite games ever was Dallas vs. The Broncos with Manning that became the craziest shootout you ever saw, it ended on a Romo pick with a score of 51-45 I believe. If I'm not mistaken that was 2012 because that was the year my Ravens won it all Manning was unstoppable for a while in Denver then age caught up to him. I deff remember that game with the Broncos and the Cowboys. Romo had some amazing flashes, it sucks that he always came up short in one way or another.

That reversed call hurt my soul. Years of defending my guy week after week and any time I was in a bar and someone asked me about my Cowboys swag. 2014 was THE year to silence all the critics. In Lambeau vs the NFL Golden Boy and MVP and he did everything he could to pull it off but they robbed him. No one remembers trailing 20-7 late in the playoff game the week before when Romo brought them back to win. No one remembers that Demarco Murray fumbled with nothing but green in front of him, or that the ball bounced into Randall Cobb's hands on a third down conversion in the first half of this game. They remember that Dez 'didn't' catch it and Romo and the Boys went home with an L. If that call is upheld, and Cowboys can't punch it in, or they do, and Rodgers pulls off a late game winning drive, fine. But to have it end that way and have it ripped from them was garbage.

@keithratel6590

@@nickdarr7328 Give me a break with the "karma" argument. Pettigrew had a handful of face mask. There was also 8 minutes left not 4 and Stafford either turns it over, they miss a FG or settle for one. That non call had little to do with the ending. A huge break if you want but it wasn't a 3rd and long, or the conversion they needed to kneel on it after converting. They then muffed the punt anyway.
@nickdarr7328
@nickdarr7328 Жыл бұрын
@@keithratel6590 what really bothered me was on that final Romo drive Suh basically got tackled twice and nothing kills drives like holds. But for real it was the lions OC to blame. The lions score twice immediately and then do nothing that had made the lions successful all year. If that flag never got thrown it wouldn't have been such a big deal. But the refs picking up a flag to help the cowboys beat the lowly lions was a great narrative for all us cowboy haters. And for what it's worth I hate the Packers way more and was upset by that call. Especially since they rule it a catch to start. I like anything that hurts the Packers

People didn't realize how good Romo was at pump faking defenders. Darren Woodson spoke on this when Romo was a 4th string on the scout team. Running the opposition offense. Made him had fits because of the pump fake and alway made the right read. My best friend defend gladly because we look at his whole situation. Dak got his end result of building around him. He was one of the most criminally under supported QB's in his time. Having a couple of pro bowlers on the team doesn't take away from the fact that the defense was consistently one of the worst in the game by the numbers and the offensive line was for the vast majority of his career a sieve. Pro bowl is a popularity contest in anyone thinking otherwise is a smooth brain. It's a shame that the offensive line only got good when he was already broken from years of taking a beating. And a lot of those big game losses came down to the fact that the defense couldn't stop a pop warner team. Saying he wasn't a great I think is subjective. especially when you consider the only reason most say he is not is the big games or the playoffs. Go look at some playoff performances of guys we consider to be great QBs like Warren moon and then tell me we are applying the same standard. Love your channel and keep all the content coming especially now with everything being on pause.

Thank you. When he had just a little bit of talent around him, they looked great. He never had a good defense.. The man would throw 400+yards, 4 TDs, and then have to come back and win in the last minute.. More than often, he would win. (Look up the stats, most 4th qrtr comebacks of all time). Other times he would throw an INT (of course.. The Defense knows you have to pass. They know you have to hit the sidelines to save time) He shouldn't have to come back to win every other game in the 4th quarter.. Ugghhh.. I wish we woulda had him healthy for 2 more years. Zekes rookie year especially.

@@rolandrodriguez9594 I will never forget that game. My sister is a Broncos fan and we were calling each other back and forth talking shit.. Romo threw for over 500 yards and had 5 TDs. QBR of 140. Then had to win the game with a 4th quarter comeback, as usual.. But threw an interception. This is a prime example of what I always bitched about. The man was on fire.. But his defense couldn't so jack shit. So 500+yds/5 TDs and then was still down in the 4th and lost the game due yo an INT.. But yeah, that's Romo's fault right?! Lol..

I'll be a Romo fan for life and will always appreciate and never regret his time in a Cowboys uniform. I think anyone who doesn't take the time to understand his story is missing out on a valuable lesson. Chances are most of us are not going to have a kid who is first round draft pick for a sports franchise. Tony Romo's story is one I would show to my kid, for grit, determination, belief in yourself and a work ethic that doesn't quit. Not to mention how to handle yourself as a professional when everything is going wrong around you. That's how he went from undrafted to one of the top QBs in the league for the biggest sports franchise in the country. He like many others prove that your draft pick does not speak to your ability, you put in the work and earn those stripes and when you get your shot, you make the most of it.

It’s because he was the QB for the most talked about team in NFL history. Everyone on that team is held to a higher level due to the support of their fans and the haters that for some reason, just hate them with a passion. If Romo was on any other team, people would be saying he was Marino Jr basically. Great QB that never got a ring.
@gregorylagrange
@gregorylagrange 4 жыл бұрын
Nope. Cowboys are media darlings. That partly because they are the most popular team. And that is partly due to the image the world has of America, western movies, and a cowboy being the mascot. But, Romo was a good qb. But he was never to the level that the league wanted him to be from a marketing stand point. Never to the level that corporations wanted from a marketing stand point. And never to the level cowboy fans wanted from an image stand point. Bill Parcells said at one point he wasn't sure if he wanted to be a great q or a celebrity qb. Other players on defense from other teams felt he thought he was better than he was. Romo was like Jeff Garcia. A good qb, but not considered great. But nobody was going to say when is Jeff Garcia going to take the 49ers to the super bowl because of where he was and where he was. And he wasn't on the level that is going to take a team to the length that a Marino could with the same team. And his reputation or legacy is hurt by as soon as he because the starter, then it was endorsement deals all over the place. Not because of what he did on the field, but because he was a commodity being the next starting cowboy qb. And yes, they prefer them to be a white guy. So he didn't suck. He wasn't great. He was good. Like a Jeff Garcia. Who nobody thinks about. But nobody says he sucks either.

Bro give some insight on certain things. The interception against NY in 07 divisional round was basically a Hail Mary. It was 4th down and only seconds left. Everyone acts like it was an oopsie. And you can’t forget the fact that Crayton dropped a game changing pass. He played decently against that great giants defense, especially after his struggles in the last 3 weeks of that season. And his December struggles were gone after 09. He just had zero help or was injured. The only two times I truly blame Romo for messing up was 2012 against Washington and the botched hold in Seattle. Everything else you can thank him for. Should’ve been a lot less, but wasn’t.
