What Happens When We HACK Save Files in Bowser's Inside Story DX?

Recently, I've made some Anti-Piracy Screens for the Mario & Luigi series. Some of the work that went into those videos required modification to the games. Particularly for Bowser's Inside Story DX, I needed a way to get to certain parts of the game quickly, and so I experimented with editing the save files, which helped me accomplish what I needed.
I also found some interesting things that could be done to the game such as loading Bowser inside of himself, as well as corrupted cutscenes which softlock the game.
If you liked this type of video, let me know, I would appreciate it! I'll definitely keep the Google Translated Mario & Luigi series going, but it might be a good idea to make some different content every now and then.

In the original BIS, when you had the Bros. placed over a major area (i.e. Trash Pit, Pump Works, Flab Zone, Energy Hold or Airway) in the map of Bowser's body, if you inhaled an enemy as Bowser, then that area's battle background would show up in the Bros. battle inside Bowser instead of the generic belly background with the blue walls. I always thought this was a neat feature, but it wasn't present in the 3DS remakes. Do you think it'd be possible to implement something like that through hacking or modding, like with the original soundtrack mod you mentioned?

I have the original on a 492 in 1 card. I activated some cheats then turned on safe mode while experimenting with them and now I can't turn it off unless I put the card into a computer and change it from there. When I get to the blue shell part in the clouds there's a part where I get a jigsaw block but hitting it does nothing. Videos show it unlocks the cannon special move which I've always had.

Open your save file in a hex editor. There should be some indicator to what your position in the file is in terms of hex bytes. Use the offsets listed and replace the value with the value in the video.
