It's simple really why he's "sad." Expanding on what you said about him not being able to control his fate... He destroyed Greece, he doesn't want to be apart of the destruction of another pantheon. He wants to leave that life behind. He's sad and afraid of himself, he's afraid that he's going to have no choice in destroying another pantheon. He's not afraid of Thor, hell, he beat Zeus, Cronos, Poseidon. All of whom I would consider close to Thors level, and he beat some of them with ease. It's not his lack of power, it's what he can do with it that scares him the most, becoming the person he once was. Ever wonder why he doesn't call upon the soul of Hades? He doesn't want to EVER use it. This is why I believe Kratos from GOW3 is more dangerous then GOW4 Kratos. A Prime GOW3 Kratos didn't care about any of this, if he were in the new game, he would've caused so much destruction and pain already. He wouldn't of held back against anything, and he would've obliterated anything in his way, especially to protect his son. Odin, nor Thor would've been able to stop him. His fury was limitless. Even Mimir said that Kratos is the most frightening Killer he's ever seen, and he may even be referring to the Ghost of Sparta. The only thing that is stopping Kratos from doing this again is himself, and perhaps even Atreus.

Learning to control it even more but as he did at the end of four. Destroying Baldur to protect Freya. He will destroy the "world", Odin/Ragnarok, to save his son, "the world".

A sad Kratos makes sense. He finally has time to grieve and process EVERYTHING he and Atreus encountered on their journey. Keeping in mind that from the moment we loaded the game we were going to experience a different Kratos he's dealing with 3 things that I believe are weighing heavily on him. 1. The Betrayal of Faye I say betrayal because she walked the journey before Kratos and Atreus which eludes to either her or the Giants possessing some form of future sight/clairvoyance and we also see that with Atreus as well. Kratos is realizing that Faye hid everything from him regarding the true nature of her wish to have her ashes scattered. This also means that Mimir most likely has met Faye and could mean that he too is hiding something from Kratos. 2. Coming To Terms With Who He Was Kratos seeing Zeus, having his son witness what he had done, his son killing Modi(as far as we know), him killing Magni and then killing Baldur has plunged him into reliving and possibly rethinking his own reasons for wiping out key pillars of the Greek Pantheon. He had spent years forcing himself to live as a Mortal, but ever since the moment he told Atreus of their true nature did it open to door to really taking everything into account. 3. Unable To Escape Fate Kratos seeing their journey on the murals along the walls when they finally reached the realm of the Giants and the start of Fimbulwinter upon their return could have Kratos realizing that Fate operates differently in this realm than what he is used to. His perception has shifted. Throughout the game Kratos has approached everything through the lens of what he has experienced with the Greek Pantheon which is why he downplays the size of Jourmegander, but he may be realizing that there's too much he doesn't know and he has lost a meaningful ally in Freya. Just my two cents
@godofgrogu91964 жыл бұрын
I disagree with number 3, he still believes that fate can be unwritten, so he is not sad because he cant change fate, i think he is sad because he just wanted a normal life(live as a man) but he realized that will never be possible since he is a god and also finding out that dating faye led to him having to deal with something he never wanted to(gods and possible destruction of a pantheon). So in the end i think he is sad because he wont be able to live a normal live with a family and will have to deal with gods again which makes him worried that his new enemies will target atreus and possibly kill him

I think the reason Kratos is sad/conflicted is because of a combination of three things: 1) He believes that the mural on the wall depicted his death and while Kratos doesn't fear death he doesn't want to leave Atreus alone when he's still so young and inexpereinced in his powers. This is especially true since they've now made enemies of the gods in this realm. Kratos likely fears that he may have unknowingly pushed Atreus into a cycle of revenge like Ares and Zeus had done to him. 2) All throughout the game Kratos had been adamant that fate was "a lie told by the gods", so to see that the giants had predicted every single one of his actions was undoubtedly a shock to him. Kratos likely believed that since he was from another realm where fate no longer exists, he was an outside influence who wasn't bound by the prophecy and fate of this world. However, since the giants seemingly counted on him being in the Norse myth, that assumption is now false. Kratos is now bound by new fates and unlike last time, he doesn't have the will or reason to go on a quest to kill 'Fate' like he did in Greece. 3) Faye. Kratos likely feels betrayed knowing that Faye might have essentially "used" him just to save her people. In a way, this seems suspiciously similar to how Freya married Odin to save Vanaheim and Kratos likely wonders whether or not his marriage was ever "real". Of course, with Faye dead, Kratos has (seemingly) no other way to gain closure with her and with Fimbulwinter in full swing and Ragnarok not far behind, Kratos likely feels sorrowful knowing that he'll die without knowing if the last few years of his life had even mattered in the grand scale of things. After all, if Faye HAD truly used him then Kratos was still being used as a pawn by higher forces despite all of his struggles in Greece and Scandanavia. It would mean that (symbolically) he was still a slave to the gods, doing the bidding of other beings who didn't care for anybody but themselves.

I just recently binge watched a bunch of your theory videos. After seeing them, I have a theory that in Ragnarok, Kratos won’t be fighting against the Aesir Gods. I feel like he’s going to be siding against the Giants instead. I haven’t quite worked out the details yet, but so far my theory is that the final mural that shows Atreus’ freaking out over a dead body is going to be the tipping point that leads him to trigger Ragnarok. Essentially, he meets someone that ends up becoming a mentor of sorts to him, helping him manifest and control his godly powers, and Odin, realizing who Atreus is, sends one of the Aesir gods to kill him. The mentor steps in and dies instead, and the grief and anger Atreus feels ends up putting his powers into overdrive and somehow ends up reviving the giants or turning back time. Perhaps the person who mentors him is Tyr, and the god uses his last breath to give some of his power to Atreus and that’s how he does it idk. He kills the god in a fit of rage and instead of the horn being used to signal Ragnarok, him repeating “Come” on the mural is him commanding Jormungandr to wake up. The snake obliges and the sun blacks out as Skoll and Hati finally catch up to their prey. Kratos tries to console his son, but ends up being attacked by the boy and loses, with Atreus disappearing into the portal to Jotunheim with the Bifrost. Instead of helping his son win the coming war, he sides with the gods to stop is, and is given a new bifrost to travel the realms to fight against Loki’s forces that are invading other realms, getting things that he needs to eventually travel to Jotunheim himself and defeat the Giants and his son to snap him out of his fit of rage.

Well Kratos had done things that have surprised even Mimir, despite what information he has gathered surrounding Kratos. I definitely feel that if and when Kratos and Thor fight, it will definitely be memorable. I do believe more that Kratos has a chance at killing Thor, given that at the very least in one story that Mimir states, there was a Giant that Thor knew even he wouldn't be able to fight and kill on his own, whereas Kratos, despite having his own losses, has come back and defeated the enemy that beat him. I feel that anything is up in the air regarding what will happen, given how much Mimir states Kratos and Atreus have changed things (such as Ragnarok and Fimbulwinter seemingly approaching sooner than expected.), and how the prophecy will take place due to it supposedly being changed. And this is assuming that Mimir is telling Kratos and Atreus the truth. I say this last line, given how people have tried to get Kratos's trust, only to try and stab him in the back, one example being Hephaestus. Part of me feels that in some degree Mimir is mixing truth and lies together with communicating with the pair. One thing that has me paranoid, is that if Kratos is killed, and comes back, how that death will affect Atreus. Given how Kratos has come back from death, nobody has really mourned him regarding such. And I think that if Kratos comes back from the dead, how that event will transpire. Lastly, that mural showing of what a large number of people believing Kratos to be dead, whether it comes true or not, I really feel that Balrog is having a field day seeing people go nuts over it, and understandably so.

Something I read yesterday on reddit, the jotunheim we visited was a future where ragnarok didn't happen yet or at all, odin or thor managed go get to jotunheim and killed all the giants, and the murals are their story that ends in failure, but with Kratos actions this game he changed that fate, he changed the future and now Ragnarok will happen and much sooner than previously thought

the mural with the wolves, not sure if its fenrir with his sons, depends on when its meant to happen because if its before they eat the sun and moon it cannot be them kratos being the MC will defeat thor, can't say he provides the finishing blow but he will win in the end, what i would like to see is in the first fight between kratos and thor, kratos gains the upper hand but thor has the meginjord hanging loose and decides to tighten it, utilising its ability of doubling his strength and completely overwhelms kratos which gives kratos the reason to get stronger armour, weapons, weapon upgrades etc again as we play through the game i don't think the lake will freeze completely, even if it did then i think it will be part of our job to release it from the ice, i think the bridge will stay important for us to travel the realms, playing gow abit again today and just glancing carefully at what it says and vanaheim, svartlfheim and asgard are closed by odin just via the bridge i believe, so even if we had the rune we couldn't travel there, but if we had the rune but use mimir's eyes we could create a path to these places like we did in jotunheim, a "backdoor", sadly for mimir ,his eyes could be used a fair amount in the next game, we could end up in new places within the same realm too, for example, instead of using the bridge, we use mimir's eyes when travelling to muspelheim, maybe it takes us further in, maybe to where some fire giants are or surtr himself...

I feel like the next game is going to go something like this. We fight Thor at least 2 times throughout the game( like Baldur un this game) but in one of it not the first battle with Thor, the fury and rage in him will out power and catch Kratos by surprise having him getting killed. Then Atreus will hold him in his arms and spawn the world serpent. After this we will play as Atreus for a short while and we will revive Kratos before finally concluding the game with Ragnarok and Kratos finally killing Thor. Thanks for watching my TedTalk LUL

Sooo I think the 3 wolves that dragged Kratos to Finland was Loki & hait & fedre or however you spell them. & they were sent by Kratos wife. & They did it to bring Kratos to destroy the prophecy of Norse mythology.. Kratos wife frye obviously wanted kratos to kill bauldar to start thimbalwinter early to mix up the prophecy. I think that's why you see the hint at austrus walking with the wolves at the end & fyre is the 3rd. thats why austrus asked if he could turn into a wolf. Maybe idk tho lol

I think Kratos will stop being sad when he realizes that the murals are of the past and not written in stone as a future destiny. That realm has time that moves very fast in comparison to Midgard. When they show up, it’s likely after the battle of ragnorak
@2005zhane4 жыл бұрын
Having come back here to watch this again, I think that the main reason that Kratos is moving slowly is due to him seeing the mural of Atreus, and who we currently believe is a dead Kratos. I think that the main reason Kratos is moving slower than usual, is possibly due to his parental side, of him not being there for Atreus for when he is able to become an adult, and do things on his own. At the very least with Calliope, and what we have seen with Atreus, Kratos has had his own level of being a caring parent. I don't believe so much in Kratos being fazed by Ragnarok. But more on the fact of possibility of him being gone too soon, and not knowing the events surrounding that. Kratos normally isn't bothered by the aspect of him dying, since he has died, and come back in the past. But possibly that he may die, and not come back, at the worst possible time.

Luba what if hildsvíni is the last Jotnar that freya knows as she says “the last of his kind and you shoot him?!” And then says “the fault is min I should of kept a closer eye” and “I told you not too wonder too far” as she has a spell that blocks the gods from finding her and in the book it says that the golden markings on the boar deflected the arrow, and that Faye obviously meant for us too meet freya as we wouldn’t have had a chance too get past the Black breath and that might mean that they might of met each other before

It's interesting to me that Freya refers to Kratos as 'just an animal, passing on his rage' after everything she's known and seen as Odin's spouse. She's discovered Kratos' part in killing the Olympians and knows he's capable of limitless destruction and it's cemented in his killing of Baldur (to her, at least). The pantheons are full of brutes, but Kratos is like chaos manifest.

Hey man! You know how Cory Barlog said "Mimir is not telling us everything that Jormangandur told him"? I went to watch the first time time Mimir speaks with the snake (after he eats Thor's statue), after speaking Mimir says "Curious...", when Kratos asks "what is it?", Mimir replies "ohhh nothing to be concerned about". I believe this is one of the times Mimir doesn't tell the whole truth. What could he be hiding? Could Mimiir be a double agent (Odin likes to control the future right?)? Or perhaps Mimir has his own goals. We base a lot of theory on what Mimir says so if he tells half truths, we may be misled in some areas. Could you make a video on what Mimir's could possibly be hiding from us? Cheers!

The cause of Fimbulwinter via Baldur’s death is weird to me. The method of cause and effect I get is supposed to by mystical and less logical, but when a god does die in God of War, or means whatever primordial force they may control goes out of control, or even explodes.

Kratos vs Thor cannot disappoint in my opinion. There has been a lot fan hype built up for this (Kratos vs Marvel Thor), that the expectations for a Kratos vs Thor fight should be even more grander than Kratos vs Zeus, Baldur, and Hercules combined. Mountains should quake, forests destroyed, and both fighters equally bloodied from their clashes.
