Hybrid pitches might be good as a temporary measure but if we really care about the environment we need to go full electric pitches sooner rather than later.

Hey Jarod, (love these trees!), can you make a video to explain all the variables in pitches, like grass, moisture, dust, soil, weather, rollers, age, cracks, drop-in, hardness, dew, rain, frost, sunshine and all others that I missed? Appreciate it!

I remember playing on matting wickets in Melbourne. As the mat came in two pieces there was a section in the middle where you had a bit of concrete exposed and you had an edge of the mat. If the bowler hit that it was called a no ball but you could still get a nasty unpredictable delivery.

my sons game moved from a potentially slow and unreliable grass wicket to an artificial.Its seamed and lifted off a length and the ball was swinging like a banana. My sons team was rolled for 30 odd the next team were 4 down for ten a few dropped slips and gully catches and the game was done! Usually that very pitch was docile! concrete based well used grass carpet

It got lot of advantages and other side of coin , it supports pace and a 130 bowler feels much fast , perhaps 140-150 and as rightly pointed causes injuries.

Most international grounds have some form of football played on during the off season. That's the real issue with pitches. We haven't got drop in pitches completely figured out.

In the early days of new technology like this, the lack of regulation makes a certain amount of sense. You don't want to restrict development into a particular type of hybrid wicket which turns out to be the wrong kind.

I find it hilarious that Jarrod included the Australia had an issue with Pakistan using matting wickets then coming down to the end he said we live in a world that still hates drop in wickets and Australia is a prime example of a country that uses drop in wickets

Here's an analogy: For those of us who can remember the pre mobile phone days and comparing it to now. Mobile phones today are obviously very cheap compared to the phone lines we had in the old days, but there's no doubt that the quality of communication is worse. Hearing people on a mobile is nowhere near as good as hearing a person on a landline. Similarly, hybrid pitches may be terrible, but if they're cheap enough, they will be introduced. This leads to cheap but awful cricket.
@shivansh8791

Hearing on landline was better than hearing on currently available mobile phones? Was that supposed to be sarcasm? Mobile phones allow all kinds of communication, audio and video and quality is obviously very superior due to more connectivity and internet. Comparing it to landline is baffling...

If nations like Pakistan/Bangladesh/Afghanistan want to get better batsmen matting wickets in the early stages of player development is very good for reflexes etc and then move to turf wickets but downfall is hardly any footwork is required

I've always thought that one of the great things about artificial pitches of all types is that you can make one end different to the other. I reckon I'd pay to see a Test match where one end is a greentop and the other like a subcontinental dustbowl :-) .

Hybrid pitches is the way to go ,Asian teams struggle away they need 2-3 months to get use to the wickets in Australia; England and South Africa but there is no time due to the number of fixtures on the calendar thus get mediocre cricket where home nations Australia; England and SA usually win easily

The BCCI will advocate for dual wickets. Flat as a tack roads, when they are batting. Dusty minefields when they are bowling.

Not Astro for tennis - they played on "carpet" for a number of years for certain events but modern hard Court events are played on acrylic surfaces. Local tennis is often on an Astro or matting type court but nothing too high end
