What's your favourite part about eating out in a new city?
@ignition19917 жыл бұрын
That I don't know what i'm going to find. In new towns I practically avoid McDonald's with a hiss! I always tell the kid I mentor that we didn't drive twenty miles to eat somewhere we could have eaten at home! Let's have an adventure!
@MCMaterac6 жыл бұрын
I like trying out new dishes. I like a bit of surprise element, although I don't recall ordering anything w/o a photo or ingredients list in a language I understand, so it's never a complete surprise for me. If I like the dish, I search the recipe online and later on I recreate it (with my own touches as usual, but with a reference of original in my mind, which is allways nice). I'm glad You like my Nation's cuisine. Yup, bary mleczne like that "Jacek i Agatka" are great value indeed. Ok pronounciacion, except "J" in Polish is pronounced "y" (google translate's Polish voice, albeit a bit mettalic, is nicely done, so when in doubt, one may check it: translate.google.com/#pl/en/bar%20mleczny%20%22Jacek%20i%20Agatka%22%20i%20chatka). I ate in such bars just few times, but Polish school canteens serve similar food and both are close to typical home-like dishes. "This kind of cheese fold-overs" (1:58) looks like naleśniki - usually bit thicker than Crêpe, way thinner than pancakes, but that's same kind of stuff. Ate with variety of sweet or savory fillings. This folding is one of few possible. My favourite filling is probably spinach+cheese+garlic+salt+pepper. Cheers!

asking the locals for what's the best then trying it :) and being truthful if you hate it because they can always recoment something else that will be to your liking. Also no offence but you should have gotten a polish breakfast not English.. Have a true experience of the country and eat kiełbasa not pork sausages. However I like that you visited the Milk bar cuz everyone there cooks like its you grandmothers food so you ate like many polish would cook. Ps men cannot wear hats inside cuz its disrespectful

Sadly very very many milk bars and other bars are called "Grandmas kitchen", "By grandma" etc. In Poland we don't really think about the name deeply :_D It's too common. Maybe in Poland, homemade food is something special? I mean... I live in Germany right now and when i am in a shop im shocked how many ready products people buy here... In my homeland we usually eat self-made food... Maybe sometimes soup in cup, but only if you are lazy haha

Japan loves Poland. Poland is a beautiful country. Japan has played Chopin songs for over 100 years. Poland is great. In 1920 and 1922, Japan rescued 765 Polish orphans in Siberia. Poland asked Japan to rescue a Polish orphan in Siberia. Japan promised to rescue immediately. The smallest orphaned child was 2 years old. The child was crying near the dead mother. The Japanese rescued the orphan immediately. The child told the dead mother "Goodbye Mom". Japan rescued a total of 765 Polish orphans.Japan sent orphans to Japan for treatment.Orphans ate delicious and warm meals every day. All Polish orphans have recovered. Almost all Japanese donated money to save orphans. On the day of return, all 765 Polish orphans returned to Poland safely. In 2018, an elementary school commemorating this was completed in Warsaw. Japan loves Poland. God bless Poland.

I think most Americans still think of Poland as a European backwater recovering from a 20th century wartorn history and oppressive Soviet rule. My parents immigrated from farming villages near Krosno in the 1960's, so I still have a bit of that idea in my head. Polish modernity has exploded since the turn of the century, and the country is just as modern as anywhere else in continental Europe. I'm a bit spoiled with a wife, mother and mother in law that love making Polish cuisine, but I can never get enough potato pancakes. They're Polish crack.

I’m sure you can get them ordered because every couple weeks few containers are being prepared to live the port.

The name is cozy too. Chatka is diminitive of chata (cottage, hut). Funny side note - the first syllable is pronounced "hut" ("ch" as well as "h" alone in Polish are pronounced like "ch" in "loch").
@hym78446 жыл бұрын
Simply: H and Ch has no pronouncing difference in polish. Hut and chut is the same, just like chatka and hatka, of course ortography says that ch is right in chatka, but in speaking you don't hear a difference.

Milk bars are extremely delicious. I am from Poland and all food from those bars is delicious and cheap. Many foods are based on barley grout, cheese, white cheese, flour and potatoes. I loved pancakes with white cheese. Also I frequently make at home bliny or "potatoe pancakes" made from raw smashed potatoes and onion, mixed with one egg, few spoons of flour (to make the dough dense enough like semi liquid) salt and pepper and then fried in sunflower oil. You need to try pierogi with strawberries and blueberries which are sold mostly during the Summer. So basically, you were not hungry in Poland
@EileenAldis6 жыл бұрын
YUM. This has just made me extremely hungry! :)
@lubystkaolamonola5296 жыл бұрын
So you can have 3 big potatoes (big ones easy to grasp when you will grate them) two big onions (onions and potatoes must be raw), 1 whole egg, about 7 spoons of flour and salt and pepper. Mix it, on the frying pan and make sure that they will get nice deep golden brown color. if they have crunchy edges that is even better. Eat when still warm and add some sugar on them for better taste. From that amount of ingredients you will receive about 50 "potato pancakes the size of a small flashcard so it is enough to feed at least 4 people. Enjoy :D and Smacznego!

I'm glad to see you enjoyed it so much! Some information for you and your viewers, if I may... "Cheese fold-over" - that was Polish take on crepes, typically in Poland they are either rolled or folded like that, and filled with e.g. cottage cheese (typically sweet, often with cinnamon), jam (apple is quite popular one), meat (pate or ground). "Rice with meat" - that was not rice, it was buckwheat groats "Pierogis" - no need to add "s" at the end, word "pierogi" is already plural (singular is "pierog") "Pure borscht" - it was just broth because that's what word "pure" indicates, and yes - it's normal to sip it as a drink

Hey, I'm from the city where that ceramic plates in blue dots were made (I actually work in one of the factories where they're produced - not those in particular, but there are many patterns). What I actually mean to say is that You should visit POZNAŃ. It's not as great of a city as Wrocław but they have one of the best restaurants in the country. Every year a city releases the official guide of 100 best establishments that are checked yearly. Just watch out for the portions because some of them are enormous. Best to just cut your original order in half in some restaurants.

These foods look so delicious!! I want those cheese foldovers! I wish we had a Milk Bar here. Great video. Have you guys been enjoying your time at home? Have you decided where you are going to go next? Looking forward to seeing your videos from Euro Disney and the others ones from last fall! :)

Hi Amisha! The Milk Bar was awesome and I wish there was always one around the corner :) We're still dreaming away and excited about the next videos! Not sure yet where to next but chasing the sun, as you know, is always a good plan...!

The cheese foldovers are really simple to make. It's a very thin pancake, with curd cheese, vanilla and sugar and egg yolk inside, they some times add raisins as well. You can make a savoury version of these as well.

It's funny that foreigners say "pierogies" since "pierogi" is already in plural. What do we get? A double plural? ;D
@EileenAldis6 жыл бұрын
At home people write and say 'perogies' so that's what I was saying.
@olatatina98566 жыл бұрын
Pierogi od plural, do it doesn't need "s"
@emiliak33906 жыл бұрын
Same with Italian panini - it's already a plural form of panino, but people say paninis, if there's more than one.

Also "ch" always reads like "h". For english "ch" like in cheese we use "cz". I hope it will help you :)

yeah! sooo the most simple way to say "chatka" is like that: hat ka. ;D and the meaning is a little cottage house. Don't you worry, Polish is realy hard to pronounce :D

If you ever come to Gdańsk, you should visit Mandu. There are so many pierogis there, also there are "pierogi of the month" with different flavours.

Eileen Aldis Yes! Mandu is the best restaurant with pierogi! So many pierogies and they make them in front of people. I just love Mandu and can't wait till I go to Poland again. If you like pierogi you should visit this place for sure :-D

Excellent coordination of subtitles and clear voice !!! Anyway, sweets and alot of carbohydrates are unhealthy. Poland is the place for cheap good protains from good meat and the place to eat berries.

I’m glad you loved our food :) when you said you loved Jacek and Agatka bar you made me smile 😀 this is the bar the dined in throughout most of my studies as it was always so cheap and delicious :) Wroclaw is my home town so you picked a great city to go to :) I have lived outside Poland for the last 8 years...your video made me miss my home town, when I was born and bred, so much... I’m vegan though so what you ate is obviously super delicious for non vegan, but we also have a couple of super amazing vegan restaurants.
