Great video, Mark! I recently got back into RC after a 35 year hiatus. At first I wanted to fix up my old Tamiya Hornet but after searching the internet for parts I realized how much the RC world has changed over the years. Decided to get a modern RC so I recently purchased my first Traxxas Slash 4x4. Slash is just fun to drive and makes me feel like I'm 13 again. Puts a huge smile on my face! Good video. I totally get the second car or back up of the same car. You like something so much that you want to enjoy using it, but at the same time don't want to use it because it wont be the same after that. Having another copy brand new in the box frees up the apprehension of using the car you like so much. Having worked so hard to attain what you have means so much more to you than someone that lives off a family trust. I grew up in lower class, single mom with 4 kids working as a waitress family. We didn't have alot and did without what most other families took for granted. I learned to value and take good care of what little I had. I don't sell much so onlookers today might think I have alot. But really, I have alot because I appreciate it, having worked so hard to achieve. I enjoy the enthusiasm in your videos because you love the RC hobby and engage with it. : )

You have a great collection ive only been in the hobby about 3 years right now i have 23 cars all but 2 are traxxas ,and i bet ive sold just as many, my thing was if i dont use it enough i sell it, then like you said sellers remorse so my selling of my cars has stopped ,i turned my 2 car garage into my workshop put ac. In it sometimes im in my garage from 8 am til midnite whether its working on my trucks or somebody coming by and wanting theres fixed anyways i enjoy your vlog you do a great job and keep them videos coming

I feel that. Ive got a merv that breaks something in the diffs or some part of the transmission every time i drive it. It's hilarious overpowered so breaking is inevitable. The biggest problem is that with the chassis brace its a total pain to pull apart everytime something breaks. It takes me like 2 hours sometimes just to change a diff. Definable super stressful lol. I can't even imagine having 11 hobbygrade RCs. I only have 2-3, plus some toy grade stuff for my daughter.

I've been splunking through your videos over the past few weeks since getting back into the hobby (out for 15 years!). I'll comment on cost vs real racing, haha. I'm getting back into R/C (and karting too) *BECAUSE* of the cost of real racing. Entry for a club race at Thronhill? $30. SCCA race? $515-$815. That's JUST entry, let's not even begin to talk about the fuel to tow there, food, tires ($1k a set for just one weekend), etc. The fun is unmatched but so is the cost. I spend probably $3k a race weekend and that's on the tightest budget (by buying used take off tires, etc). The front teams have 10x the money in lol So, the haters have no idea. R/C is a really fun AND welcoming hobby -- no one really has egos like 'real' racing does. Also the 'top' folks aren't really running away with budget like 'real' racing (but they are with talent!). Anyways, wanted to comment on that. Shout out to a fellow engineer -- except I've been heavily avoiding that manager role 😂IC for as long as I can! See you at lonestar 👋🏻

Yea, alot of people live in debt. I personally don't see why people that make a pile of dough see the need of stretching out their means to the point of being on a 3 month reserve at best. It shouldn't matter what you do for a living. Or how you can afford all the RC's. People are always worried about what other people do. It's all about working hard so that you can play hard. It's about finding that one job/ career that you truly injoy or love. And it will never feel like work. Got to put in the time and effort. If you want to be on the top of your game, maken top dollar. No body is owed anything. You got to work for what you want out of life. Or you end up being one of the haters.. that always say "oh man I wish I could".. guess what you can, you got to work for it..You shouldn't have to explain yourself bud.. you do you it's all about being happy..Ive been in the hobby since the 80s when I was 8-9. It's taken a while to get where I am and be happy as a whole. And be able to buy what I want when I want.Didn't happen over night. That's for dam sure. Keep haven fun bud as I will collecting RC's. The more the merrier. Can never have enough...as for two of everything. Got to have the back up. Great video Mark. If you work hard it allows us to play hard. My collection isn’t quite as substantial as yours lol. I’m a full time welder / truck driver so I get to play pretty damn hard when the time allows it. 30+ cars/ trucks. That’s just the non flying rigs……..
