I bake my bacon in the oven and store it in the fridge. When I want some, I microwave it for about 1 min and it comes it hot, crisp and delicious. The flavor is much tastier baking it in the oven than in a pan on the stove. I have directions if anyone is interested.
@kellyhughes45903 жыл бұрын
Yes please!
@g-bgcg3 жыл бұрын
@@kellyhughes4590 Hi, here is how I bake my bacon in advance: I place a cookie cooking rack on top of a large “rimmed” cookie sheet. Then I put the “thick cut” bacon slices (We like the Wright applewood thick cut bacon) on top of the cookie rack spreading them flat in single file. (I take the bacon right out of the fridge, not room temp). Then I pop them into a “cold” oven and turn the oven to 400*. Bake for about 30 mins or until crispy. (Every oven is different) Once baked to your liking, I immediately remove the bacon from the rack and place onto another cookie sheet lined with paper towel to absorb the grease. (If you wait too long the bacon will stick to the rack once cooled) I then put the bacon into a sealed container in between paper towel layers and place them into the fridge. When I need to reheat the bacon, I put them on a microwave safe plate and nuke for about 1 min. This method makes the bacon so tasty vs frying in a pan. Plus it last a long time in the fridge because it’s cooked. PS. I bought a cheap, clear heavy duty plate from Walmart to reheat bacon as some microwave safe plates are not really microwave safe and may cause some plates to crack. I learned this the hard way. OR you could use a microwave bacon cooker to reheat. but I dislike cleaning these with all the grooves. Also it’s ok to slightly undercooked your bacon as it will cook a little more when you reheat it. Hope this helps! Enjoy!
@kimidoodles3 жыл бұрын
Oven method is my favorite. No muss no fuss, and easy to get the rendered fat into a container for cooking. I do bacon on parchment paper, start off cold, cook at 375, flipping when the ovens preheated, and then another 8-12 minutes, depending on how crispy I want my bacon. I love it straight from the fridge.

I've packed on the pounds during the pandemic for a myriad of reasons- mostly emotional triggers related to loss. I'm back on my healthy weight loss journey reboot and on day eight of carnivore (down 6 lbs), yay! Great ideas. Meal prep this week: batch of bacon cheeseburger scramble, boiled eggs, sausage links, hamburger patties, smoked gouda, thick cut bacon, smoked chicken, ribs, with no sauce. We'll also likely have a fresh steak or two during the week, but not my favorite meat. I have to make everything as convenient as possible for right now. Thanks for all these great ideas! I'll be trying a version of the egg cups and eventually the cheese chips. Also, if there is a toaster oven at work, you could wrap fresh bacon in foil packet and cook it that way.

My solution for what to eat at work is, I don't. I make sure I wake up early enough to toss a steak or cubed roast in the air fryer, and sometimes I'll fry 3-4 eggs. At work, I'm seldom hungry, but I keep a bag of home made jerky in my locker in case I want to nosh on something. When I get home, it's more beef in the air fryer, or sometimes I'll brown some ground beef and add some butter or bone broth for my other meal of the day. People at work think I'm strange because they're all starving by lunch time, and I'm sitting there with a bottle of water.

Make bacon at home by the sheet pan-ful in the oven, and bring it cold in plastic bags and then you can zap it in the mic for 20-30 seconds with paper towerl over it. Or do like me, bake it until it's SUPER done and crispy and pack it, and eat it cold, without nuking it. It's delcious. Like bacon jerky. Making bacon in the mic at work from raw is messy and probably irritates coworkers.

I would recommend getting the Hotlogicmini. It's a portable oven that will make your food steamy hot. Much better alternative than using a microwave which nukes your food with radiation
@MsTruthSeekr13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for these great ideas!! I have an appliance that I keep at work called Hot Logic that heats up food without drying it out. I store my leftovers and foods that I intend to bring to work in a covered rectangular Pyrex dish (purchased separately and fits perfectly in the Hot Logic). I can bring pre-cooked burger patties with a little of the grease and they heat up nicely. For a tasty flavor, top with some Boursin cheese. I've heated pulled pork and chicken in the Hot Logic, too. I find it works best if there is some sort of cooking juices/fats or butter on the bottom of the dish. The meat stays moist. Reheating time is 60-90 minutes, typically. Purchased on Amazon.

@@jbob1548 Not sure if you mean the bacon sushi or the dippers. Then, once cooled, I use the bacon as a sushi wrap. I have used so many fillings, cream cheese, sliced cheese, more bacon, olives, california roll items.. ham/mustard/swiss... the options are countless. As for the dippers... I usually have the deli slice the meat (any kind) for me to get it extra thin, like one step from shredded.. pop it in the oven on very low to dehydrate or use a dehydrator until crisp and then eat like chips.
