Have been intermittent (16.8 ) fasting since July 1st. I am averaging a weight loss of about three pounds a month. The benefits of this practice have become amazing! At a recent wellness check, my physician said “Continue to do what you are doing!” ( My lab work revealed a better outcome than last spring. ) I am so grateful for your encouraging videos, Jennifer! You have definitely made an impact on my well being.

I really love how you make tea time a ritual to unwind and calm down, to educate your mind and feed your soul. As some who will make a cup of tea in a cocoa mug but be so distracted and frantically trying to meet all my kids needs, interruptions, and their demands to the point where I am nearly in neurotic tears, this is highly inspiring. My poor tea got left on the counter for 8 hours a few days ago. I kept trying to warm it up, but eventually tossed it because I was so discouraged.

I have 6 children, 5 of them ages 7 and under. It can be a challenge getting a quite moment. But I try every day the exact time and that is supposed to be quite time. Two down for naps sometimes three and have the other children work on something quietly. It helps my sanity greatly. Here lately I have been enjoying that be my tea time. Try it, keep working on it everyday. Right now my 7 month old is crying at my feet during quite time. 😅 It isn't always quiet.

@@rebeccamorris1032 thank you for your encouragement!! I have 4 kids and my oldest is 7! You are a supermom to make it a special part of your routine and not give up when it’s rough. I may need to embrace the fact that every day it may not look the same or anywhere near what I think it should look like, and that’s okay as long as I’m consistent with my efforts. Kids crying at your heels- I’m all too familiar with that! 😅 Thank you so much for this response. It means more than you know! 😘

I'm finding that IF provides great structure and keeps me from snacking. Before I started IF, I was eating (seriously) every 2-3 hours, was constantly hungry, and the weight kept creeping on. I started 12:12 IF, and worked my way to 14:10. Stayed there for a couple of weeks, then gradually built up to 16:8. Now I can even do a pretty intense cardio workout late in the fast. The best thing is that the food cravings are basically gone. I do feel hungry sometimes, but it's surprisingly manageable. The weird thing is that after a 16 hour fast, I only feel about as hungry as I used to after 2-3 hours when I was eating all the time. BUT, it took me about a month to build up to this. I would not recommend trying to jump right into 16 hour fasting. If you're just starting, give yourself time. I definitely sleep better and have far fewer hot flashes, so this eating schedule is definitely good (for me, anyway) for managing menopausal symptoms.

Love your videos - I’ve just completed week 3 of IF - 16-8 or 18-6. I’ve removed processed sugars and refined carbohydrates as I am diabetic type 2 and have a fair amount of weight to lose. My constant cravings have decreased and I’m able to better manage my hunger. Have lost 7 pounds thus far but I’m most pleased that my inflammation joint pain has eased. This has become a way of life for me now - next step is to incorporate daily exercise - I’ve just signed up for Pilates classes and will endeavour to walk 8-10,000 steps per day!

Hi Jennifer! Week 2 of IF. It's going GREAT! Down 4 pounds. I love the structure and that I don't feel I need to deprive myself. I do 16:8 (my eating window is 11a- 7p). I've noticed my digestion is better and my tummy is getting flat. Since having my second child over 14 yrs ago, my weight has been slowly creeping up. I have about 20 pounds to lose. I've never been one to struggle with weight until recently (I think I'm entering peri-meno...ugh). Being a health coach, I know exactly what to do, so I know I can stick to this. Love these videos!! Love this update, thank you! I have been doing IF for about 5 months now. I slowly lost about 8 lbs and plateaued about 2 months ago. I am at a healthy weight for my height so that is fine with me 😊 My clothes fit a lot better and I don’t have the awful blood sugar drops in the afternoons anymore. I do 18:6 IF as that works out better with my schedule and like you, I don’t stress if I occasionally eat earlier or later than usual 😊

Your meals always look so satisfying. I absolutely love that you give yourself a dessert daily. I also love a sweet treat in the afternoon. I am just starting IF. I am 72 and have struggled with weight on and off. I have numerous health issues. I gained about 15 pounds recently and it has made me so uncomfortable. Every time I eat I feel miserable and bloated. I have insomnia, a long time issue related to yrs of shift work. I so relate to your past nighttime snacking. I can be reasonable during the day but after 9pm all bets are off. If I have a period of sleeping well at night I eat much less and feel much better. I am going to give this my best. I love Victoria magazine and France. Very fortunate to have visited many times. Thank you for your inspiring videos. Hello Jennifer. I’ve just recently discovered your channel and I am loving it! Your outlook on daily living; enjoying and respecting your life, family and home brings me back to the lovely and loving days of meals with my mother and grandmother. Your home, lovely China, and meals rich with flavor & nutrition just drew me right into you. I also started IF this past end of February but have not lost more than 11 to 12 lbs. I have been doing the 16 - 8 plan, with fasting from 7 or 7:30pm until between 12:30 to 1:00pm to break my fast. I think my downfall is my enjoyment of a late night vodka on ice with splash of white vermouth. ( I am retired and in my early 70’s, and fairly active with a young dog, almost 2 years old, and I swim 3 times a week for an hour each time. I look forward to catching up with your previous videos and all your future stories. I’m quite taken with your view of The Jane Austin Diet and will be bringing it home to enjoy! That you for sharing your passion living.

Im 50 , so losing weight harder than ever, but also cant face dieting, I have done IF before but only when accompanied with keto or the 5;2 but i really do not want to diet as its always short term and after a 4 month or so loss old habits creep back in. I started IF again 4 days ago after an indulgent Christmas, then valentines then mothers day, then easter and so happy to find this channel, it is exactly what i wanted, to structure eating around 8 hours but not to restrict the things i like. So this week has been so easy to fast 12noon till 8pm , its early days for me but apart from the structure of the timing it feels great to eat normal things instead of cutting out a whole food group. so many say its no good unless your restricting calories also but coming across your channel its inspiring to see you are happy and healthy and have lost weight just by sticking to the 8 hours.

You said yes so I ordered several. I am short and plus size so I was kind of liking them but really saw that I needed to make some changes so that my confidence would grow. I have just started my 4th week! It has been surprisingly easy and simple. On my 2nd week I discovered an app which I am in love with. I have already lost 15 inches overall and have completely changed my relationship with food. I am choosing much healthier/delicious foods that I take my time to prepare now...like creating art... I started intermittent fasting about six weeks ago and have lost approximately 14 pounds. I have black tea for breakfast, eat lunch about noon which sometimes is a brunch consisting of an omelette and a slice of toast, dinner consists of a meat. a vegetable and a salad. After dinner I’ll have a cup of tea or sometimes a coffee latte. So I’m fasting from dinner time (generally about 6:00 p.m.) until about noon. Lunch often consists of a tossed salad with chicken pieces or lentil soup or tuna salad made with celery, carrots, red pepper, and a small amount of light mayo with a tsp. of honey mustard as the dressing on a bed of lettuce.

@@kerinac1909 The diet soda might be it. During my my fasting time which is after 5:30 no later then 6, I drink water, maybe I’ll add a squeeze of lemon or lime, or herbal tea no artificial sweeteners. Autumn Bates has a lot of information on that.

@@steveasztalos9933 Just like Jennifer I eat the same and I eat until satiated. The only thing that I do now that I’m at my goal weight since June is that I add cream to my coffee and at my tea time I’ll have a pumpkin bread with whip cream or 1 or 2 short bread cookies, something like that. I love IF and although I’m not as strict with it as I was when I was in weight loss mode I still get the 14-16 gut heal rest that is so good for your overall wellness.

A lovely video! I wonder if you have checked your macros to be relatively sure you are getting enough good-quality protein everyday? I know it can help maintain optimim weight, too. I could be mistaken, but your meals looked light on protein to me. Best wishes!!

I've decided that after about 6 years of gaining weight that it's time to lose. I just turned 68 and getting ready to retire. I'm looking forward to travel with my husband, but I'm not happy with my weight. I tried noom and lost about 4-5 lbs but regained it pretty quickly. I have tried WW and the same thing happened, the weight came back. I've been doing intermittent fasting for a week now. The first few days were a little tough, but I now know that I'm going to do this! I'm on the 16/8 schedule because that seems to be working. Relaxed and pumped! I want to get back down to about 126 lbs which is 8lbs. Wish me luck.

When you were talking about your cottage cheese breakfast, you mentioned a KZbin channel but I couldn’t understand what you said. What channel did you mention?

Hi Jennifer. You mentioned you are trying to add more fat into you diet. Is there any specific reason why?
@TheDailyConnoisseur3 жыл бұрын
I will address that in Thursday's video. I have a few updates. Thank you!

Fat is very good for you. Almost all fats except from corn, soybean or canola. Others all good and healthy. See Dr Berg youtube channel or Nourishing Traditions book.

These videos are soothing and inspiring. Thank you! I have tried IF for a year, but my results may have been skewed during the early days of Covid quarantine. I have only ever gained weight, so I wonder how I or my experiences vary from you and other community members.

Do you strive to get a certain amount of protein each day?

I discovered intermittent fasting 3 decades ago before I ever knew it was a thing. It worked amazingly well. Then life changed and I became a divorced mom with 3 jobs and I just couldn't schedule my eating that way anymore. I want to do it again now, but my blood sugar is so fussy that it's turned out to be incredibly difficult to do it without my blood sugar plummeting.

I love your videos. I just started, and I don’t feel hunger during my 16/8 fast. Am I doing something wrong? Should I push myself and try to fast longer? 20/4?

I recommend looking up Dr Satchin Panda, he has many great videos and Ted talk, his lab discovered the benefits of time restricted eating and it was by accident! Time restricted eating (intermittent fasting) has many health benefits, including weight loss and management, but so much more. Great videos, keep up the good work :) ps. I do the 16-8 and helps manage my weight after menopause - and my sugar cravings are practically gone!
