All of a sudden everyone is an expert on protein lol 😆 1. He’s trying to gain more muscle and works out 6 days/week (read the comments instead of asking the same questions over and over). I’ve seen non-vegans who take even more protein than this if they are body building and/or training! 2. He takes MSM for his skin (again read the comments) and it’s really helping! Google the other benefits of MSM (although someone already mentioned it in a COMMENT below) 😁 3. End of story. :) thanks for sharing Ryoya!

+ *KrisMarie* Two things, and I preface this by saying I respect Ryoya and his contribution to plant-based culinary arts: 1.) The volume of protein he consumes according to this video gives the impression that the vegan diet, even one as high in protein as Ryoya's is--the whole foods he eats in this video are providing more than enough protein for a very active grown man--is _inadequately low_ in protein, a destructive lie that causes medical professionals and government organizations to continue to disparage plant-based diets. Maybe you aren't a vegan, and so don't realize what a negative impression non-vegans may derive from this video's content, though that wasn't Ryoya's intention, I'm sure. 2.) You develop and maintain muscle mass by using your muscles excessively; beyond a certain intake of protein grams, as vegan body builders can attest to, all that surplus isolated or food-based protein does is damage the kidneys.
@KrisMarie242
@KrisMarie242 6 жыл бұрын
tamcon72 people always feel the need to critique vegans to a different standard than they do others. My points were that He gave his reason for his protein intake. We do not know his routine or even if he consulted medical/professional advice. If Ryoya were a regular meat eating guy I’m sure half of these comments would not be concerned with his protein intake. Like I said, I know carnivores who consume way more protein than this, supplemented by protein powders. Also, he is exercising 6 days/week, hence using his muscles excessively beyond a certain point...I can only assume; seeing as how he has not uploaded any videos outlining his workout routine. Lastly, I am plant based and also happen to be in the medical profession. I personally do not take protein powders, but that is my choice and likewise Ryoya has his choice. Many people will watch this video and make their own assumptions and take different impressions from it. I certainly did not get the impression that the vegan diet does not provide adequate protein. I appreciate your response and respect your point of view.

KrisMarie it's not about being an expert on protein. It's just normal reasoning. We all eat every day and have certain experience about it. There is no expert needed to see powders instead of natural food etc...in combination with a super cook. I was surprised that he does not have a more natural habit and joy to just prepare everything naturaly himself and enjoy his knowledge. It's not a critic. It's an observation within a surprise.

Taking B-12 is a fad. If your adrenals are healthy your body makes its own B-12. Besides man-made isolate vitamin and mineral supplements are not recognizable by the body because the body just recognizes food. The best way to absorb vitamins is to get them from food and whole herbs as grown in Nature - not extracted and isolated from the plant. When taken that way it just stimulates but later enervates.

Put some chia seeds and flaxseeds into your smoothie. The fat in each of those will allow your body to digest and absorb all the vitamins and minerals. Otherwise, you're going to pee out a lot of that good stuff.

Because he is a vegan, so his diet intake has lesser protein as meat and fish provides the most protein. hence he has to take protein shakes and other source of food that is high in protein to make up for that.

June Tan No, vegans can get their protein from plants, the vegans that take supplements do it for muscle gaining, and even if he is doing that, the amount of protein he took is massive.

June Tan I'm guessing you don't know that lentils, peas/hummus, avocado etc. and hemp seeds..everything he had was super high sources of vegan/clean protein. in addition he had 25g of vegan protein powder. That is a lot to take even for a vegan. It's not that he has foods lacking in it. quite the contrary
