Great grandma-in-law swears by bee pollen for many reasons but found it kept her youthful. She turns 105 next month and doesn't look 80 yet! Her dr said she has the health of a 70 yr old! She still runs a 100 acre farm!!!

You are such a beautiful person, Lisa, and I love how you take care of not only your precious family but yourself. I'm almost 77 years old and I remember how terribly poor we were when I was carrying our babies. It was all I could do to just feed everyone else, but I went without food so much. I think those early years of starvation took a huge toll on my health. But my children were always fed and nurtured. Don't know why I'm reminiscing like this! Just wanted you to know that I admire you! God bless you!

Beef liver capsules! I had severe anemia during my second pregnancy and took 0 iron pills or anything with iron, including a multivitamin. All I took was shilajit and dessicated beef liver after that and my hemoglobin went up drastically. Toward the end I stopped taking those and it dipped again, as soon as I found out I started up with them again + liquid chlorophyll. Apparently people are rarely deficient in iron, especially when cooking in cast iron and eating fortified food products.

Yeeeees! I was going to say beef liver and shilajit also! It may help to also had a raw carrot salad made with carrots, coconut oil, salt, and lemon or acv. The fiber in this helps to bind to endotoxins and excess estrogen (both of which can make high iron issues worse) and help eliminate them.

Beautiful mama! You’re amazing. I’m a holistic nutritionist that specializes in pregnancy, babies and postpartum. You may consider eating liver form pasture raised chickens. I ate it a few times a week throughout my pregnancies and has the most iron per ounce of any food. It’s also heme iron which is easy to absorb. Pair with vitamin C like camu camu, and/or sauerkraut! Meat is heme iron, and iron from plants is much harder to absorb. But you are so incredibly healthy and doing great. Just wanted to mention that about the iron. You can also take desiccated iron and beef spleen/heart pills from Ancestral Supplements. ❤️

I am 12 Weeks pregnant as of today and having a really hard pregnancy, we have eaten a lot of fast food and I haven't taken care of myself. This video really helps and gives me the inspiration to do better and take control of my health again, and my children's. Please do more

I started taking Cod Liver oil capsules, Grass fed Beef liver capsules, Vitamin D3, and Vitamin C. Melatonin at bedtime. They all boost immune system.👍🏻

Dairy interferes with iron absorption, you should leave at least two hours between dairy, calcium supplements or antacids and taking iron. I’m always anemic and it’s written on the front of my prescription ❤️

Yes! You definitely are on the right track with supplementing with bee pollen. More than likely you are deficient in copper-the two work together. 😊 Morley Robbins is a great resource for information on low iron and hemoglobin in pregnancy.

I had home births back in the ‘90’s. For iron, I took a liquid elixir called, “Floradix.” It is still sold and is easy on the digestion. Looks like you are on top of it- enjoy your pregnancy😊

Hi Lisa! Gynecologist advice coming your way from Austria: it’s important to space out iron and magnesium supplements because their absorption interferes with each other. The Vit C helps the iron get absorbed but lots of foods actually prevent that from happening. Coffee is also a big bummer…I am sorry for the bad news…I remember the dilemma from being pregnant when to take all the different supplements.

I can’t remember if you keep bees, we use a pollen extractor and get pollen right from the hive :) local pollen can help build your immunity to allergens

Hi Lisa, thank you so much for your inspiring youtube channel. It's so relaxing and inspiring for me. In terms of iron during pregnancy, I highly recommend nettle for drinking. It's good to pour it with boiling water, leave it overnight and then drink it. When I was pregnant last year I drank two big mugs a day (about one litre) and thanks to that I didn't take any iron at all, the level was ok. I picked nettle from my garden but now I think it's too late for that. It should be picked before it blossom. I don't know wheter its popular in States, but in Poland, where I live, you can buy it in almost every store. All best for Mummy :)!

Just FYI: coffee and dairy both interferes with iron absorption. I too take those iron supplements and I have to take them at night so they aren’t inhibited by other foods/drinks.

I loved all the meal ideas and have to start up my sourdough again to give those bagels a try! (LOL, the smell and sight of my started was a pregnancy aversion last time around) I liked the cozy evening light. Made me feel like we were invited into your home. I am almost 27 weeks too. I changed my diet to eating 90% organic this pregnancy as some dairy I just can’t find organic. But my iron levels have been perfect. My doc said usually people past their third pregnancy don’t have great iron levels so he was surprised. The farmer I buy my food from told me about the copper absorption problem and he said fertilizers in inorganic food actually inhibit copper absorption. So eat organic, I know you do try your best too. Especially the meat. We have a homestead and do our own meat birds and eggs all organic! It’s great.

I tried a ton of iron supplements including dessicated liver (it was so disgusting I gagged it up in the sink) and floradix (the herbs made my hormones crazy) and I finally landed on taking a double dose of shacklee iron and it worked SO WELL. I've struggled with iron for three pregnancies and my hemoglobin stayed in the normal range!!! I like shacklee because it has vitamin c built into the iron tab.

Hi Lisa! Now that I'm in my second trimester too, I'm trying to eat more like the GAPS diet again. Maybe you could try it too to see if it helps with your iron absorption. If not, maybe just go gluten free and coffee free for a while. When I tested for sensitivities, my body was responding to coffee like gluten. So I drink a matcha latte in the morning and skip the coffee. Praying for you.

Chicken livers or beef liver and onions. You may not like it but it works for iron.

I have never heard your accent be so heavy. My husband is from up north but he's lost his accent unless he talks to someone from up north, then it comes back. I love it! I hope you get your iron levels up for your home birth.

Loved this video! I'm always amazed by your food and recipe videos. Just so you're aware, though, the number you're referring to as iron is actually your hemoglobin level. I'm a clinical lab scientist and an iron of 10 would be extremely low. Providers check hemoglobin levels because it's quick and easy to do a fingerstick in the office and since iron is required to make hemoglobin, it's an indirect way to check if your iron might be low. Just thought I'd mention this in case someone ever questions you about it.

Tell me why we have the exact same nightly routine!? Plain yogurt, honey, granola from Aldi and usually I like to add nuts and berries. All while the kids are asleep and I can eat in peace 😂

Concerning iron intake complete meals that have iron and Wit c and B12, eg. Beef with an egg on the side and grapefruit on desert. No coffee with meal. Just let it digest. It helped me a lot .Some people have trouble with B12 and than you need injection of B12 every month to keep eg. iron intake on good levels. Greetings 🌷

Some people react really allergic to bee pollen. Please test it first. But yes. Bee pollen is really good (decreased inflammation, as well as improved immunity, menopausal symptoms and wound healing).

I wondered about the possibility of having an allergic reaction to the bee pollen because I'm allergic to bees and basically anything that stings. Would be nice to have an update on this risk.

@@WVbuellblaster its not really about the stinging part of the bee...but the pollen itself. "Bee pollen appears to be safe for most people, at least when taken for a short term. But if you have pollen allergies, you may get more than you bargained for. Bee pollen can cause a serious allergic reaction -- including shortness of breath, hives, swelling, and anaphylaxis."

Also... I AM NOT saying....no one can eat it. And that she should not take it... but its also not really good for pregnant people. BUT its her baby and her life. And Im sure she looked up all the side effects it could have. But if anyone is interested and thinking about buying it: "Bee pollen is not safe for pregnant women. Women should also avoid using bee pollen if they are breastfeeding. Bee pollen may cause increased bleeding if taken with certain blood thinners like warfarin. Check with your doctor before taking bee pollen if you take any medications, over-the-counter medicines, or herbals." AGAIN its not an attack against her. Everyone has to make their own choices. But please do your research and or talk to your doctor if you are not sure ❤

Have you tried beef liver capsules? It worked for my friend, she never had issues with iron in her pregnancies. That’s what I plan on doing if I get pregnant again and can’t get my hands on actual good quality liver... Thanks for a fun video, always enjoy them!

My iron was low during my entire pregnancy so I had to take iron too. After I had my daughter I had to continue taking iron for a little while. Continue to take care of yourself and eat well.

Iron absorption is increased by vitamin C so if you want to improve intake I would recommend having it with some Citrus fruit maybe.

Oh and if you have any not quite ripe tomatoes on your broken plants you can put them inside on a sunny windowsill on newspaper sitting separately and they should ripen.

I just wish I could afford the products I need. There’s very little I can digest. I have a medical condition. So I basically eat three things over and over. I pray one day, things will be such I can branch out. I’m the meantime I praise God I am not on a tube yet. People please take care of yourselves. Good Foods are so important. Take heed to these wonderful mentors like Lisa.

I started seeing some improvement from homemade water kefir (NOT milk kefir, and only small amounts of water kefir at first), drinking calcium bentonite clay, and doing the amazing liver and gallbladder flushes (I didn't start seeing improvements until my 9th flush, get Andreas Moritz's book), and all three of these treatments are some of the least expensive things you can do. God will lead you to your healing!

Also, look into fecal transplants. They restore the microbiota of the intestines. They are using them on children/adolescents in a clinic in Southern California to heal IBD and Crohn’s. Doctors generally won’t do them, but you can do them yourself at home. They sound pretty weird and far out there, but they do them in animals and they can be transformative.

My last pregnancy, which was my 6th live birth, I got an iron infusion. My body doesn’t improve when taking supplements. The infusion was amazing and helped me so much. It was my easiest recovery which was amazing. I will plan to do it for all my pregnancies.

Yes! My mum also has to get iron infusions every few months because her gut cant absorb the iron supplements. So an infusion could help.

I have read in multiple places that the tannic acid in coffee and tea reduce iron absorption and it is recommended not to drink them with meals or within an hour before or after, so you might want to check into that. Tacos are always my fall back to, but my family loves them so everyone is happy! Yours looked so good, I love chicken tacos with cilantro and homemade ranch dressing.

Love that mermaid 🧜‍♀️ tail! Too cute! Wish I shared your sentiments about summer. Although fall IS my favorite, I would love a longer spring. When I was a child (1960’s) summers were awesome, now it’s soooo hot and humid that being outside is challenging. I love working in my years and garden but find it too miserable after 10:00am-4:00pm. 🙁 I guess that’s why the good Lord is in control of seasons and not us! I am 14 weeks pregnant and drinking lots of water makes me nauseous too. I used to drink so much now I feel dehydrated with the amount I am able to tolerate. Hopefully it gets better soon! Great video!

Yum! You might want to consider either adding Pink Storks Liquid Prenatal, or Spatone iron with vitamin C. Both really really good! I mix the pink stork with my natural calm once a day, and when I had low iron in the past I used spatone liquid iron and vitamin C. Pairing that with magnesium from the calm it helps not have digestive issues ;) and liquid iron works so well!

I struggle with iron during pregnancy also! I would take B-12 and chlorophyll with my iron & Vit. C. It drastically increased my numbers!

I'm 11 ½ weeks pregnant with my first, I discovered your channel while looking for pregnancy tips, I'm loving all your content 😊. I've been taking liver capsules to keep my iron up since organ meats are so rich in iron, they also contain choline which helps baby with brain development :). I wish I could drink coffee! It still smells so good when my husband makes it but it just doesn't taste good to me anymore, hoping that will somehow change once I get to the 2nd trimester.

Since I’ve finished breastfeeding my second son I am having iron issues, and yes, I’ve learned so much about how to absorb it properly, but definitely the bee pollen is a good try, thanks for the tip! Years ago I had a smoothie with bee pollen, orange juice and milk, something like that and I love it.❤️

Loved the video! I wonder if you’d feel differently about summer if you didn’t have such an intense winter. I live in southern AZ and our summers are BRUTAL. I’m not sure how hot and humid they are where you live but I’m sure comparatively, the winters are more intense. But for us over here, winter and fall are the way to go. 😉 You are glowing by the way!!

Magnesium can reduce the absorption of iron drastically. Better space out magnesium and iron supplements. Currently also struggling with iron levels in my 3rd pregnancy. Greetings from an Austrian MD. 😊

Floradix has always been a winner for my chronic low iron during pregnancy.

As I'm watching this I'm finally having my smoothie and coffee lol! I've never had any kind of kefir, but I do make my own yogurt for my smoothies. I have frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, blueberries, frozen puree of cucumber from my garden, and some spinach powder.

Agree with everyone: liver! Check with your midwife about the levels of vitamin A in liver, though. Wouldn't want to over do it. Could make some pate - Mickey Trescott has a good recipe on her site. If you have already, I apologize, but I would a video on your experience with Einkorn. I have the genetic markers for celiac disease (I haven't been tested but just assume I am based on my experiences with gluten). I'm interested in trying Einkorn to see if I can tolerate it. I would love to hear your reasons for einkorn, etc.

I highly recommend Floradix Iron Tablets. They're plant based, easy on the stomach and very effective.

Absolutely love your channel and love what I eat videos. I'm so excited to be sharing pregnancy with you. I'm currently 24 weeks with baby #4! Haha I'm always ready for fall by August but living in a area that stays really warm to hot from April to mid oct/beg. Nov I'm ready for the cool down 🤣

When I was pregnant I took iron/c supplement which really helped me feel better and upped my iron levels- way back then I bought it from Shaklee and IT was approved to take by my DR

You having coffee gives me hope I can drink it again at one point! I’m being extra careful in my first trimester and avoiding all caffeine but I want to reintroduce a cup when I get to 12 weeks :) thanks for sharing

With my last pregnancy, my midwife recommended liquid iron called Floradix Iron & Herbs, Energy Support, Liquid Extract. It’s little on pricy side but I found it really easy on my stomach and helped with my iron level a lot :) Always Love your videos, and enjoyed your sourdough starter pancake recipe !! Those were bit hits with my toddler and husband !

I am guilty of pushing fall and especially Christmas!! Summer is not my favorite...I was raised on a tobacco farm so we worked very hard all summer....so I'm done with hot weather 😎

your too funny about the coffee 😂...yea i have forgotten to eat rather than forget my coffee ...But First...COFFEE. Your an amazing human being. I love your cooking and everything you do. My daughter is also 25 weeks pregnant, with 3 rd child. God Bless you and your wonderful family. Don't know how you do it, but you are👌👍. Oh and by the way you look really well, pretty and healthy ...God Bless...It's still summer lets enjoy everybit of it, people are always in a rush for everything. Live for today, tomorrow has not come yet.

If you like bee pollen have you tried royal jelly it’s supposed to be really good for you so long as you are not allergic my middle child my only boy was or is allergic to bee stings which was hard because my best friends husband kept bees so if I went to her place to visit he would have to stay indoors

I hadn't heard of ferrofood. I have struggled with iron through both my pregnancies, so much that last time I needed an Infusion. If we go for baby 3 this Fall, I'm trying it from the beginning! & Yes! Summer goes til the end of September!
