I’d be curious to see a video of you talking about how you got past the ethical/emotional grief,sadness,guilt around killing an animal and eating their body. I don’t say this judgmentally, I’m curious. I started watching your channel when you lived in your van in Hawaii. I was also 80/10/10 and All that jazz. I was vegan for 14 years. I am now incorporating some fish and cheese and eggs because it feels good to my body. However I feel immense guilt and my heartbreaks knowing I’m harming these creatures. I personally could never branch out towards eating cow, pig, chicken etc. I feel terrible for the suffering I’m contributing to even though I buy local, wild caught, organic. What is your relationship with the reality of what this diet does to these individual animals you’re eating?

As an older long-term psychotherapist, I am absolutely fascinated with the popular phenomenon of sharing intimate details of one's life on a nearly daily basis. I grew up in an era when writing in a diary was the norm and sharing of this kind was almost non-existent, save, perhaps, for writing a memoir in one's later years. I'm not judging, but am very curious how this shapes the human mind and perceptions, as well as the impact on social relationships. We know in quantum physics that the second a particle of matter is observed, it changes. I can't imagine cooking, or gardening, or riding my bike, or interacting with my partner and pet and also having to be aware of setting my camera angles and positioning my lights. If I knew someone was going to be watching my actions and listening to my words, it would absolutely impact my behavioral choices. Again, this is just me. I simply don't understand. Just to be clear, I once worked as a professional dancer and performance artist, so am no stranger to having an audience. I loved everything about it, from inspiring and entertaining others to connecting with the audience, to receiving validation, to creating something of value that did not harm others. But, it was in limited amounts and on my terms. I guess time will tell how this impacts people long-term. I am also deeply curious about this choice because, by its very nature, sharing on social media opens the door to reactions from people that have absolutely nothing to do with the vlogger or podcaster. Understandably, I see how hurtful this can be for the creator, but wonder why anyone would put themselves in this position. Of course, it goes without saying that in life we will always meet with criticism. But, I wonder why anyone would open up the floodgates to literally thousands of people. Just some thoughts and questions... Thank you for reading and considering.

It was right before the syrian war started... And i really thought our path forward in life was a more peacefull and less harmfull way... now its over a decade later and i have fallen just like almost everyone else i know, europe is at the brink of war only to hope it will not reach us, with people caring less and less about the environment or the animals, but billions of dollars are spent for military equipment.... There was this moment... this moment were i think we could have changed the path of the world... but maybe yet again humans decidet to return to their nature... and i´m tired of it, so many hundretthousand years of war, its just boring to me now... its human nature to go over carcasses... and you once gave me hope.... well hope is oh so fragile

It’s just between me and me… It’s MY relationship with food… Also it’s helpful to me to see what you eat in a day because it gives me a visual assurance that it’s okay to eat meat and fat. I like many have been bombarded with fear surrounding what I should eat. Low fat raw veganism fear that fat causes diabetes and so only an all fruit diet is ideal. And animal based diet fear that sugar/carbs is completely off the table. Basically the fear that you should do fat based or you should do sugar based but never both at the same time.

I understand that there are some mushrooms that are carnivores. They tend to reside inside old hollow logs, emit a toxin which causes an animal like a rodent or insect to fall asleep and then digest them. As for me, I try to lean vegetarian with only about 1 combination meat/dairy serving a day. And when I eat a mushroom, it’s my little way of taking back the night.

Hey Alyse, I’ve never commented when you expressed how upset you were at the back lash for deciding to eat meat again. I’m sure it was super tough and alot of it was totally unfair. I remember you originally decided to change you posted a few horrible videos about eating massive chucks of meat. I stopped following you for a while because the thumbnails of you holding up chunks of meat was saddening. I think it was eating raw meat or something? Now, fast forward a few years, your title “animal based recipes”? I don't mind that you eat meat and I’ve happily followed you again watching your journey but I don't understand why stepping away from veganism means so strongly emphasising the meat? I would have loved to watch your video if it didn’t have animal based in the title, stating that is upsetting and triggering for me. I hate that animals are killed for food. I hope one day you can post videos just being, without the need to state animal/ carnivore or vegan.
@AlyseParker10 ай бұрын
hey candice, thanks for understanding that it was super tough for me to face backlash when i decided to eat meat again. i did post 1 video titled 'i tried the carnivore diet for 30 days' with meat in the thumbnail.there were many people posting videos about my choices at that time, so it's possible you saw a few other photos/titles like that, but they weren't on my channel. however, i can understand how saddening that must have been to see someone eating meat if that went against your morals. i can sense how deeply you care for animals and wish they weren't being killed for food. and if i'm hearing you correctly, it sounds like you'd prefer that i refrain from stating 'animal based' or 'vegan' in my video titles because reading that label is triggering for you. while i can't authentically make that promise right now, i do trust that moving forward you will honor which videos feel good for you to click on/watch and which ones do not. all my love💗
