It’s always interesting how nostalgia tends to tint the lenses of our glasses, just a little bit more rosy than they may have been before. I remember Blockbuster running every “Mom and Pop” video store into bankruptcy in pretty short order. I also remember the very real threat to artistic expression that they posed by threatening to (and following through,) not carry certain titles that broke their “decency” rules with excess gore, violence and sexual situations. I wear a Blockbuster Video shirt every now and then, for nostalgias sake, but I do remember the not so rosy era as well.

I agree w you about Blockbuster and small video stores but them threatening free speech? No. First of all thats not what 1A means. It’s about the government silencing a citizen. It doesn’t apply to private companies.
@celluloidtherapy5003

I am referring to silencing artists when creating art, which is NEVER a good thing. Films are a form of art. But you are correct, private businesses are not covered by 1A, though the consequences are equally chilling.

yo I saw the Demon Slayer Movie this month IN THEATERS AND IT WAS AMAZING! I'm a huge fan of anime, and Demon Slayer is one of my recent favs, and the movie I was already hyped for, and for a cannon movie for the series was amazing! The theater was good too, not too many people, everyone were spread apart, and It was just perfect!! Highly recommend it.

There is an anime with a somewhat similar concept to Waterworld. Its called "gargantia on the verdurous planet". A teen fighting in outer space (on a robot) falls into a wormhole and lands on a post apocalyptic earth. The planet is also a giant sea, with the few humans living in giant boats. Its a mix of a coming of age/ slice of life and scifi.

being a huge fan of aronofsky, i've watched noah a few years ago but i really got bored after like one hour, BUT i've noticed some similar scenes between noah and mother! i'm sure the ones who watched both and remember them well know which one i'm talking about, and even though many of us know that aronofsky likes to re-use some scenes it was interesting to notice that since noah came out before mother! i feel like he always does that, almost as if he was making a first draft to see how it goes and then re-use the scene to its full potential in his next big movie (since 1 out of 2 movies me makes are big ones and the others in between just here to raise funds in the meantinme)

@@SymphoniaFan101 Noah is just way different from any of Aronofsky’s other movies. You can tell that he didn’t have full creative control over the film as he doesn’t use many of the techniques that I love him for. April was a good month for me too. So many great classic horror films and great Asian horror films I got to watch Disclaimer: I probably won't be able to name every single horror movie I watched for the first time this month, lol, so here are the movies, as well as some rewatches, I watched during this month: New movies (plus a horror series and movies I finally watched for the first time) 1. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (Persian vampire movie) 2. It Follows 3. Teeth 4. The One Missed Call series (I've seen 1 and 2. I haven't watched the 3rd one yet) 5. Wolf Guy - Urufu gai: Moero ôkami-otoko (A Japanese action/horror movie from the 1970s. I have a love/hate relationship with this film, haha 😂) 6. The Omen (the first one. I know there's a sequel too. I will give that one a watch) 7. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the 1978 version featuring Donald Sutherland) 8. When A Stranger Calls 9. Sweet Home (this is a recent K-drama/horror series on Netflix. I binged this in 2 days because it's SO GOOD 😍) 10. Flowers In The Attic 11. Sylvia Scarlett (this is one non-horror movie I can think of that I watched. This is a movie from 1935, and Katherine Hepburn was in it. She's my favorite old Hollywood actress, and I loved seeing her transcend gender when she disguises herself as a boy. Not a fan of the outdated misogyny, though) Movies I rewatched 1. The Ring 2. Memento Mori 3. The Conjuring 2

While I don't dislike Joker as a film, I never thought of all the thousands of films that exist one would say Joker is (one of the less than a handful!) of "perfect" films. I would not even expect one to say Joker was a "good" film. No hate for enjoying the film, I enjoyed it too, the extremity of the praise is striking to me though. I do not think objective evaluation of film or art is possible. Again, no hate.

Apparently there is some sort of negative legend of this part of the USA ( Appalachian Mountains ) and if someone is interested in more samples there is 'Out of the Furnace' with Christian Bale and there is also Hellboy comicbook 'The Crooked Man' and there is propably more...

love seeing those stephen king books in the background. also i finally watched green room, and just whoa. it was brutal, messed up, and just a heart racing thriller.

Wrong turn needed to be renamed to "intentially goes off the trail and somehow still surprised at things going wrong" - if it wasn't marketed as wrong turn it wouldn't be AS bad. Should be its own films. 1000000% agree on that ending as well. Not needed lol
