@@marcelofg4214 long story short Escape was written by Metallica in a single day because they showed their producer Ride The Lightning (the whole album) and the producer said to make another song that was more “radio friendly” (basically the radio would like it more and it would be more mainstream). Ironically, nobody really likes Escape. (I do though)

I Disappear has the same snare sound but it’s mixed well enough to a point where it doesn’t really stand out as bad as it does on st. anger. St. Anger’s mixing and mastering is its main fault and it’s something that (when looked at objectively) can be fixed literally in 30 minutes - an hour of work. Really wish they would revisit it for a 20 year anniversary and amend some of those problems. Highly unlikely though :/ we’d probably have to wait til 2033 for them to do a 30 year rerelease for them to ever do that.

The original version of All Within My Hands is pretty good aside from the "KILL KILL KILL" outro. Other songs like The Unnamed Feeling and Sweet Amber would have been classics if weren't for the bad production and awful snare as well.

On one hand Mercury is absolutely badass at reworking Metallica songs and knows what elements to keep and which to discard from both the original versions and the target album sound, on the other hand St. Anger *did* have some pretty good elements to it and the songs are actually pretty good (I *do* like that album, BTW), but the "shitty on purpose" mixing and those way-too-loud, godawuful tinny drums give it that really cringey factor that makes everyone hate on it. (That and the AWMH "kill, kill, kill" outro and the chorus being just the same chord being hammered over and over again…)

Give it a whirl. I won't say you'll like it, it really depends on your expectations, but after a listen or two, you may start to be swayed. It's angry, raw and visceral, and the infamous trash can snare is... jarring to most. But there are some good tracks on there.
