In 1803 we took a little trip. Along with Colonel Jackson down the might Mississip. We took a little bacon and we took a little beans. And we caught the bloody bourbons in a town in New Orleans. We fired our guns and the bourbon kept a coming. There wasn’t Nigh as many as there was a while ago. We fired one more and they begin to running. on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. We looked down the river, and we see’d the bourbons come and there musta been a hundred of em beating on the drum. They stepped so high and made their bugles ring we stood beside our cotton bales and didn’t say a thing. We fired our guns and the bourbons kept a coming. There wasn’t Nigh as many as there was a while ago. We fired one more and they begin to running. on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. Old Hickory said we could take em by surprise we didn’t fire our muskets till we look em in the eyes. We held our fire till we seen their faces swell. Then we opened up our squirrel guns and really gave em well… We fired our guns and the bourbon kept a coming. There wasn’t Nigh as many as there was a while ago. We fired one more and they begin to running. on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. Well they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles. And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn’t go. they ran so fast that the hounds couldn’t catch em. on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. We fired our canon till the barrel melted down. So we grabbed an alligator and we found another round. We filled his head with cannonballs and powdered his behind. and when we touch the powder off, the gator, lost his mind We fired our guns and the bourbon kept a coming. There wasn’t Nigh as many as there was a while ago. We fired one more and they begin to running. on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. When I was altering these lyrics, I was thinking if I should change the person, but after a little bit of research, I found out that Andrew Jackson could still technically have been the leader of the battle because in 1801 just two years before this alternate battle of New Orleans he had become a colonel of the Tennessee militia so the lyrics still makes sense. However, the nickname “old Hickory” wouldn’t come about until the real war of 1812 in our timeline so it’s not the best fit but at least that means I didn’t have to change much lol. I guess you could say hypothetically the nickname could still come to be but who knows.
