What If Crocodiles Were Introduced Into The Amazonian Rainforest?
Well, we want to shark that all up, turn the Amazon upside-down. We want to insert crocodiles into the Amazonian rainforest. And if we did that, what would happen? How would the Amazon react? And more importantly, how would the crocodile react?
How did you like this video? I'm waiting for your opinion in the comments and you can also write what kind of videos you would like to see in the future! Thank you!

It's not like the jaguar goes after the big crocodiles. Jaguars in Central America kill crocodiles, and they always opt for those that are 3 meters or shorter. Caimans and crocodiles function almost identically in many ways, and neither would actually be able to remain immune to feline predation.

@microbus432 I seriously doubt an anaconda would ever go near a 20 foot long croc. Jaguars hunt Cayman. Cayman are nowhere near as aggressive as crocodiles nor anywhere near as large. Electric eels...no idea. Depends on if the croc would actually suffer a shock or if the crocs jaws would just kill instantly resulting in little to no shock. Crocs already live around great whites and tiger sharks in Australia. Bull sharks are aggressive but I think would not want to mess with a saltwater croc unless it was smaller than it.

Black caiman grow up to 20ft and would give the salty a run for his money for sure. Don’t underestimate the black caiman he is also better adjusted to the amazonian. Jaguars wouldn’t attack a 20ft salty since they also avoid the old male black caimans but NOT all adult crocs grow up to 20ft or longer only the old males. Facts because they will eat everything in and around the water. A large male salty would own caiman and anaconda. @danielkudo4800 exactly, this would probably be disastrous for the rainforest of the Amazon. Caiman would go extinct, jaguars would have to stop hunting along water banks. Anaconda stand no chance, and there is practically nothing else that can rival them at all. They would eat everything, but because of how little they eat, maybe they can prolong it
@Vexinsight
@Vexinsight 7 ай бұрын
@@Fins-Up-74 I don't assume they will go extinct. Black caimans can limit crocodile numbers by killing their young. Most likely they would lead a peaceful coexistence. The saltwater crocodile coexists with other crocodilians in Asia and no hostile interactions have been reported. If there were hostile interactions, it would be by black caimans fearful of the presence of another large crocodilian, and would probably try to suppress them.

The Crocodile of the Americas (the American Crocodile), does venture into the Amazon, as does the Morelet's Crocodile. However, there is no evidence of them having regular indigenous populations in the Amazon. Morelet's Crocodiles, and American Crocodiles can sometimes be found living, as far south in South America, as waterways in Argentina (these are typically regarded as transient visitors, as there doesn't seem to be any evidence of populations being established). It's likely Morelet's Crocodiles make there way that far south via the Amazon River, and it's tributaries (though they can tolerate saltwater, they probably don't swim that far south along the coastline, and then move into rivers). The American Crocodile is quite comfortable traveling great distances in saltwater, so they can easily get into Argentinian waterways via coastal inlets. American Crocodiles, Nile Crocodiles, and Indo-Pacific Saltwater Crocodiles, can easily survive in the Amazon. Obviously Nile crocs, and Indo-Pacific Saltwater Crocodiles are not indigenous to the Amazon, so of course those species would have to be brought there, as the post suggests. There are three species of crocodile indigenous to Mexico, Central America, and South America : Morelet's Crocodile of Mexico and Central America; Orinoco Crocodile of Venezuela (with sparse populations in Columbia); and The Crocodile of the Americas (the American Crocodile, with a range from islands in the Caribbean, to southern Florida, Cuba, into Mexico, Central America, and South America). The Amazon has populations of many Caiman species, and now even the Black Caiman is making a comeback, so crocodiles in South America, just don't attempt to establish populations were there are, already high populations of large aquatic reptiles, if it can be avoided (this also includes anacondas).

Oooooo let's play the "what if" game What if... someone involved in this video remembered that the Orinoco ((Crocodylus intermedius)), a now rare, but very large species of Croc, exists ONLY in the Amazonian tributary that bears it's name.

Crocodiles live in Costa Rica and Central American Rainforests, which is extremely Humid Tropical Climate. Why wouldn't they be able to survive in Brazil just a few countries down with the same type of climate as Costa Rica?

with small specimens, not adults and probably not even juveniles. anacondas can't even take on adult black caimans, which are smaller than adult salt water crocs.

Until a year or two ago I though crocodiles did live in the Amazon since it just seems like a place you’d find them…that being said it could be an ecological disaster. I know anacondas can get big and all but they just can’t compete a salt water crocodile.

I am sure that will give a dangerous idea to the wealthy cartel boss. The Medellin cartel boss imported hippos from Africa and left them in the Colombian jungle where they thrived to this day.

Saltie also live in the rainforest of Southeast Asia, and The largest one was found in the Philippines not in Australia, so you might be right. And the spotting of larger saltie is much prominent in the Southeast Asian countries especially in Indonesia, and the news of human attack is almost everyday

would it be not also problematic that crocs fuel themself in full sunlight (as you mentioned) but the amazon (except the part that we stupid humans destroying) is mostly pretty dense at doesn't allowed much sunlight to hit the ground?

@@johnconnor7131 A sub-adult crocodile can easily be subdued by a jaguar in an ambush. And even though the crocodile wins if it attacks effectively, conflicts on the part of the jaguar will generally never begin at a time when it does not have an absolute advantage.
