I do think they said something about the inside of your own ship in the up coming DLC thingy. I might be wrong though i hope i'm not. Meteor shower's would be cool. The thing is it would most likely be connected to comets. Both of these will make for non static and fast moving objects compared to planets which will make the FSS scanner less useful for scanning a system. I think doin a single city covering the entire planet would be hard as each planetary port has landing pads and if it covered the entire planet it would just confuse the player for where they are to land unless they use advance docking computer that is then it might get to the point that you only had to get into the place you can land then you will be able to use the advanced docking computer to do the rest due to how random it seems landing pads are assigned. It would be cool to have oceans on planets that could support that. Iced over ones on them that are to cold and areas that could be or were an ocean in the past on others. Having biomes would only be a thing on planets with enough atmosphere to support it which most don't. The altitude thing i don't see happening either. Really to me it seems like they took the sim of universe sandbox changed it a bit by adding stations, an actual story, space ships, combat, aliens etc. BUT never did anything to the planets. That will go with my above one for vegeation on the surface. There's animals in elite dangerous? other than the xeno creatures and humans i mean.

Elites main problem is that it's so static. You know that every jump is going to be successful, you know every jump is going to take exactly [this] amount of seconds, you know that every system is going to have a star. It's severely lacking in terms of randomness. Just the chance of a jump failing due to damage or stellar phenomenon and it dumping you out in the space between stars would make the game feel more alive.

@@EM-ks5my For all the crap Star Citizen gets for delays and feature creep, and rightly so, the one thing they've managed to get perfect is the seamless transitions from one flight state to the next. I get that there's obviously going to be some tech limitations when simulating the entire galaxy compared to simulating a single system but if Frontier could figure out a way to get rid of the instancing, ED would be so much better. @Mrrshal4 жыл бұрын
@@NathanielChattoo But Elite has no less seamless transitions? In system loading is hidden behind game mechanics like gliding to planet surface. In StarCitizen you still have to travel trough tunnel in to other star system with is the same as Elite witchspace albeit less interactive.
@NathanielChattoo4 жыл бұрын
@@Mrrshal Elites' "glide" phase is just a single player instance, a ship following directly behind will see you just vanish and a ship on the surface will see you just magically appear once the glide is complete. Reentry in Star Citizen is literally seamless and a player on the surface won't see a ship just pop into view. As for system to system travel in Star Citizen, nobody knows exactly how it works yet as it's still (as with many things in SC) to be released to the Alpha. I imagine it'll be a load screen similar to Witchspace in Elite because the tech isn't there to have a seamless galaxy. My point in my original comment is that there's no reason for it not to be possible to fly from a planets surface all the way up to an orbiting station without having to do a jump. It should also be entirely possible to chase a ship down to a planets surface without having to lock onto its wake signature and drop out of FSD onto it.

Closest we have to "Dark Systems" are those containing purely a brown dwarf. I've seen systems however where a Gas Giant had a greater mass than the primary brown dwarf. The only reason in a system like that, that the gas giant isn't the drop point is because we're only allowed to drop out at the most massive STELLAR body. Gas giants are unfortunately not considered stellar body's at the moment.

Kinda like the jets from neutron stars except the payoff for exploring them is untold riches from the pure, heavy elements they discard. Honestly, Fdev needs to put some effort into this. Asteroids (not these belt rocks but real asteroids like Vesta or Bennu in our solar system), comets, stars that are a little different than always the same texture with a different color or size (for instance Beteigeuze should look like a violent blob of gas throwing off material and not like a calm orange sun), disks around black holes (honestly I never visited one because I find them rather boring in ED, they are just a lens effect on the background stars) ect.+ And not to mention dark systems, systems around Jupiter-like failed stars, rogue planets, also rogue moons and asteroids ect. Also star clusters... there should be a way to visit globular clusters in our galaxy ect. The overall look of the ED galaxy has not changed much since it's beta.

And also separate DLC: Atmospheric planets DLC Lush planets DLC Base building DLC Factory building DLC City building DLC Also there should be a real estate market and economy. I mean there are so many possibilities. I think the community should build the world, not as it is in Star citizen where the community pay for developers to build their world and that is a hard task, and even more you cannot connect truly to something you are not involved in.

Next to you a large waterfall is illuminated by the lightening. And around the edge of the lake various odd plants can be seen. Gameplay Idea: The Dark Wheel faction expands and gets an engineer. This engineer provides the schematics and upgrades for "Removed Governor" type FSD, which allows one to pick up and jump to lower mass objects, which a high degree of error (spits you out maybe 10s or 100s ls away). As a result you can now get readings of rogue planets from certain factions and other transmissions in regular systems, unlocking them on your Star Map to do said jump. I've always had this sneaking suspicion or feeling that it already does. I feel like there are still many unspoken secrets to reveal. In a game universe this vast, there are plenty of places to hide.
@MapleLeafAce4 жыл бұрын
Players have explored enough of the galaxy to be able to infer what the unexplored sectors have to offer. And the answer is: more of the same. If there were incredible stellar events or anomalies or rogue planets, someone would have found one by now.

Jumping to a location requires a star. But how small a gravity well is required? Super massive gas giant (failed star / super Jupiter) rouge? Or a “Nibiru” (Planet X) in known systems, undetected due to current scanner radius? (Taking longer than a visit to proxima)
@kedrednael4 жыл бұрын
One boulder's gravity well should do it :P. Ok your idea is better, every one you proposed.

@@kedrednael I know they have micro galaxys orbiting the milkyway and it’s possible to reach them in game using pulsar supercharging so could a black hole be used in game (accretion disk) Oooh I’m putting that idea as a full comment!
@kedrednael4 жыл бұрын
@@tonyoliver4920 I would like the accretion disk to be like hot planetary rings the rocks (with some glowing from the heat) move and collide, and deep core mining would release very hot gasses (instead of cooling gasses/ice clouds that we have currently). But black holes with active accretion disks should also produce jets like the neutron stars. Would be cool if those active black hole jets supercharge the FSD even more than neutron stars.

What about complete "star" systems where all the planets orbit one or more black holes? Do they exist and if not why not? Would be pretty eerie to have a system only lit by distant starlight.

Elite: Dangerous is a game of wasted potential. There are so many cool things out in the galaxy that could have been put in the game but instead we get the same bland, empty systems over and over. Sure you might get the occasional pretty system every now and then but that's hardly something to compel you to go exploring. In it's current state exploration is incredibly underwhelming, there's no SUBSTANCE to it, simply, the game needs more things in it and more variety in things to discover.
@yumri44 жыл бұрын
They most likely took the map from universe sandbox and/or an open domain map of the astronomy of the universe. If you haven't noticed humans have been mapping the stars for thousands of years. There's alot of empty space in the universe. Most of the universe is the same thing too just billions if not trillions of the same thing over and over and over again and again. In different locations but still there is a lot of repetition in the universe.
@SolaceOpossum4 жыл бұрын
@@yumri4 Yes and there's also a lot of interesting things out in the galaxy that are sadly not included in the game. It is also why real life does not make for good video games, real life is boring and dull. If you have a game that is exactly like real life, then you have a game that is boring and dull.

Man, so manay mechanics come to mind on how to implement that in fun and interesting ways, from new drives, to special scanners, to manual calibration that needs multiple jumps each time getting closer, but we won't get this or if we will it will in the most bland possible way.

I remember in Everspace there are dark systems. Systems with no light at all and the only way to see was because of periodic lightning strikes in space. I was stranded in this system with no fuel, the only other source of fuel was on tge other side of the system and the was a black hole I couldn't somewhere between me and the fuel. Fucking horrifying. Not to plug but this is a video on my channel just in case you guys want to see what this kind of thing looks like

It's a shame that the only comet we have in game currently is the invisible one in Pareco. I'm hoping the new ice planet renders may change that, but I won't hold my breath! Looking forward to the rest of the series. Also I think your figures for explored/unexplored are an order of magnitude out, they should be around ~0.05% explored/~99.95% unexplored.
@845SiM4 жыл бұрын
I think they should start using more theoretical stuff, ( yes I know it’s all pretty much theoretical) like wormholes that drag you across to a random point in the galaxy, imho I think there’s a good amount of weird stuff they have put in the game we have yet to find.

WHAT IF there will be actually supernovas? Something like a message coming up: "One of the star in your current system became unstable please evacuate at least 50LY distance, SUPERNOVA Countdown: 10 minutes"
@kedrednael4 жыл бұрын
That gameplay wouldn't make a lot of sense, because in supercruise you travel faster than the speed of light, outrunning any natural phenomena easily. Supernovas etc would be cool to see though. But keep in mind supernova's only happen around twice a century in the milky way galaxy in real life, so it wouldn't be a realistic threat. I think hot rings close to stars would be more feasible and realistic. When mining or bumping them too hard, the hot rocks can explode, releasing a lot of hot gas, as opposed to the icebergs which release a cloud of cold that cools your ship down. Or very active stars, where you have to evade solar flares in super cruise. There are just soo many possibilities that don't sound too hard to code, and are realistic as well, it's a shame elite hasn't improved a lot. Still we don't even have comets, asteroids, geysers and volcanos that can be seen from space, aurora, variation in size of ring rocks etc.

I was wondering about this, also about protoplanetary disks or young star systems.. It always seemed weird to me that you either had a fully developed star system with planets and or moons, or an empty star system. Seems there would be alot more gas in the space where young stars are were the gas hasnt coalesced into planets yet. A real bummer. Elite does so much right, but just doesnt have that last little bit for it to be true astronoimical simulation
