I was born in 1990, I got HOOKED when shadows of the empire came out. I was the perfect age for the comics and games, and I saw all the prequels in the theater. It really is impossible to tell because if he actually started production on his sequels the ideas may have changed as they do naturally. He talked about having Darth Maul be the villain and Leia playing a new Chosen one type of role and being more of the main character. His episode 7 definitely would have been shot digitally and not on 35mm like TFA was. BB-8 certainly wouldn't exist. I speculate this because I've watched the commentaries for the first 6 films and he often speaks fondly of R2 and says that he always looks for an excuse to put him in an action film and have him save the day. There was even a letter to Micheal Arndt who wrote earlier drafts for episode 7 to put more R2 into the film and into the action. He said to consider some abandoned concepts such as an R2-D2 tank attachment. Woah. His version of the sequels also would've had more variety in visuals and locales. Interviews with him always talk about wanting something visually new and different, not repeating what came before. I get the feeling he would've taken 3 years to make each film like he did for all the others. Whereas Disney wanted to churn them out yearly until Solo bombed. George's approach would've presented problems if things went the same way since Carrie Fisher would've most likely died before episode 8 was even made. That is assuming hypothetically things went the same way in that respect. Her passing would really shake up his script and it did the same for TROS.

Lucas would’ve respected the original storyline; the Empire is destroyed, the Republic is restored and Luke reestablishes the Jedi Order. Of course, there will be challenges and nothing will go smoothly. He would’ve respected the original characters; Luke would be a Jedi Master, Leia would be a prominent member of the Republic (maybe even Chancellor) and Han would be by her side, maybe as her trouble shooter. They wouldn’t be killed off; at least not until the end. And if they were killed, they’d be more respectable deaths, fitting of their stature and importance. But it always seemed like Lucas had great love for his characters and was very protective of them. And seeing as he characterized the Star Wars story as a modern day fairy tale, hopefully he would have let them live. That said, they’d probably be sidelined and serve as supporting characters or maybe just have cameos as the younger characters take over; characters based on the EU.

I hate to admit this but it was just a natural course of events to lead us where we are, it was the fans who reacted so negatively to what George did with the prequels, that he honestly didnt really want to continue working on more films and felt his time was over, so he sold it to disney to hopefully get fans back, they made tfa so much like the originals because fans didnt like the overdone cgi, bad acting, boring politics of the prequels, disney made a soft remake in the force awakens, then fans felt it was to similar so they let Ruin Johnson do really what ever he wanted to tlj cause Kennedy thought she had the fans in her grip, that didnt work out and fans reacted so badly, so they went back to basics, rehired jj to make tros a below-average film that played it so safe and was honestly felt more like a fan fiction, and now fans are kinda split over everything, the mandalorian has a majority of fans loving it and hope for the future, and now we kinda look back more fondly of the prequels as I also do, and we respect Lucas now So without the sequel trilogy being what is, I don't think fans would come to adore the prequels and George Lucas as much and kinda regret hating on the man for so long

Funnily enough I disagree with almost all your prequel points, Yeah the political scenes in Ep 1 can be a bit boring but they have good purpose to the story so they don't bother me. Besides that though the political scenes in Ep 2 were interesting and I wish we could've seen more in Ep 3! Yes there was some bad CGI in Ep 2 of the prequels but there's only some bad scenes of CGI not nearly as bad as people say. Also the CGI was experimental too. As for bad acting, well this is one of the most misunderstood parts of the prequels, the acting in Ep 1 was actually good, people were just talking formally, and the Jedi were as calm as always. It's also the reason why the Jedi talk in a monotone in Ep 2 as well. As for Anakin, well that's just his character trying to act like a Jedi around other Jedi but when he's with other people like Padme he's a emotionful mess and is justifiably whinny in my opinion. Just like Luke was also justifiability whinny as well. Then there's the most misunderstood part of Anakin: His creepiness. You see if someone didn't show you how to act or flirt with a girl that you've been obsessed over for 10 years I think you would be acting really weird too.

4 things: 1. Lucas would have definitely gone after different directors to direct his sequel trilogy, both because of his age and because of probably being burnt out after directing the prequels, of which he tried to get others such as Spielberg, Zemeckis or Ron Howard to direct(Howard and Spielberg ended up doing mostly second-unit stuff). Especially since more young filmmakers these days are aware or even fans of Star Wars, where as at the time of the prequels, the only people Lucas could really go to were old buddies of his who thought it was too daunting a task, which is a shame, even if I feel that he delivered well enough. 2. Lucas probably would have given the directors of the Star Wars Stories enough creative control/freedom to make the movies the way they wanted, rather than constantly firing directors and demanding reshoots, resulting in a successful, continuous series of Star Wars Stories. 3. Star Wars Detours would have been released. 4. Lucas most likely would have delayed Episode 7 until, like, 2019/2020 to take care of his daughter for a while.

I disagree with that, Lucas should've been controlling the visuals on all of his sequel trilogy films if he were to make it, his visual style in the prequels was great and I would've liked to have seen more of that. Lucas probably would've gotten someone else to work with the actors alongside him.

@@goodmind4940 Actually, I disagree with that as Lucas probably learned from his mistakes of the prequels. Also I've heard that for his original Ep 7 he was gonna have a ROTJ writer and a Empire director ( acting wise) for his episode 7 as well. Lucas's sequels would've most certainly improved on some of the flaws of the prequels for sure!

@@goodmind4940 This is actually a falsehood. Lucas actually pointed out in an interview for an article some time ago that, if anything, everyone at Lucasfilm was TOO comfortable with challenging him. EASILY the Lucas Sequels would have catered to children more than Disney. It would have Actually created a new generation of Star Wars fans (which the current one is lukewarm on at best) for the Original AND Prequel Gen to hate on. Then 15 years later they join KZbin and create a Sequel renaissance. Also I LOVE the fact that he would have capped off his ideas on Midi-chlorians. It would have been SO satisfying to see his final ideas on the unrealized concept be realized into film. Clone Wars Yoda Arc gave us hints and I wanted it to go deeper, much deeper into the mysteries of the Force.

I'm still convinced that Midichlorians don't explain the Force away. They just connect you to the Force, and the Midichlorians just tell you about the Force and it's Will. Midichlorians aren't a power indicator either it just shows you your Force potential. Can't believe the Media convinced people of something that was clearly explained in Phantom Menace?! Also yeah I agree exploring the Whills and how they control the Force and feed on it would've been really interesting to see.

I think this rundown sounds pretty reasonable. Probably the only real question is the timing of things. I'm not sure that he would have gotten the trilogy and other live action projects going as quickly as Disney did. He might've been a couple years behind. Though, he'd been planning a long time, especially with Underworld, so once he became ready, I think he up and running and the quality of storytelling would be much better. Hopefully, he'd be able to bring in some help with talented writers and directors, but I think just his ideas are far more interesting than what we've gotten recently.

While I'm sure there would have been both lovers and haters of a Lucas sequel trilogy, I'd like to think that the debate would be purely on the merits of the films rather than culture war politics. Of course, had he still decided to go with a female lead or checked some other diversity box (even if he didn't do it to make any kind of statement), it's possible that the media may have politicized his version of the films anyway even if he didn't walk around wearing a The Force is Female shirt or complain about the fandom. Maybe it's just impossible to create art that's simply seen as art these days.

I think, the only realm it could have been “worse” is tv shows. And even there, would we have lost a lot because, we would just have fewer shows - which, I think is Disney’s way of throwing all the darts at once, hoping some land in the board. Films, I don’t see being worse and not nearly as divisive (not necessarily universally loved); games, yeah, definitely better; EU stays, that’s better.
@brucewayne16623 жыл бұрын
The only reason we eventually got a ST is because Lucas's non Star Wars projects were losing the company money. There truly was no story after 6 and I believe that is how he truly felt. The way Lucas decided to finish the OT and the way he decided to do the PT made a potential ST almost impossible to do without feeling tacked on. His ST would have been much better than Disney's but aside from the Whills and microbiotics I thought his ideas such as bring Maul back were very lackluster.

The big thing people miss is the financial aspect. While Lucas said there would never be a sequel trilogy, it was very clear that he was going to have to do it if his company was to survive. Lucasfilm's last two movies, Strange Magic and Redtails, didn't make money and he wanted to retire. So who would buy Lucasfilm if a sequel trilogy was off the table? No one. He had hoped, wrongly, that he could have at least create the story and leave it in capable hands. The only way things could have happened differently would have been if Disney had listened to George and tried to carry out his vision. However, Disney had $4.4 billion reasons not to do that.

If Lucas kept Lucasfilm we would have gotten a very different sequel trilogy that people would probably also be hating on, but would eventually come around to maybe in like 2045. I agree with your opinion on what the state of Lucasarts, Filoniverse, and TV would have been. We also would have definitely gotten Indiana Jones 5 by now too. Since you said in a previous video that Lucas was afraid of shortening his life by making the sequels I guess it could be in the realm of possibility that making the sequels could have earned Lucas a heart attack though. That would have been sad.

People would still complain about lucas creativity and vision for star wars. Kennedy ruin star wars and she really betrayed george after he sold lucasfilms to disney. He is an old guy who could not enjoy life with his family. It was his decision to sell rather than having to make more when it takes 3 years to make one movie for him to do. Disney gave us garbage trilogy and sure not interested in disney + or any new movies.

@ethan9hx9203 жыл бұрын
Actually, to my knowledge and what I've seen, Lucas would not have made 7,8,9 if he didnt sell to disney, because ultimately he was winding down and didnt want to get invested. *Then* along comes Disney, a way for the movies to get made and he can still retire, and the y convince him to do this. Also, Underworlds was out on hold in 2010 due to it costing too much, so I'm not sure that would've been made either. Personally I think the best reality would be him passing on the company to a similar minded successor(s) who could continue making SW stories, and leaving the 6 films as the only episodes. That way he could retire and be happy, and sw would continue through books, games and tv, but I see your point about him still wanting or being tempted to get involved. Also Lucas Arts was struggling a bit, but i think 1313 would've been a huge hit that would boost the company.
