Alternate History Hub did one where Teddy Roosevelt beats Wilson in the 1912 election and basically causes this domino effect where the world is a much better places. the US joins WWI way sooner, causing s quicker ally victory, no communism in Russia, no harsh terms for Germany that allow for the rise of facism and no WWII, etc. I'd be interested to see your take on that one.

That's the beauty of being human, we can disagree, but not have to say someone is "wrong" or that we "hate" them for what we disagree about. Disagreements are an opportunity to open our minds to hear both perspectives/sides. It's like the debates over good vs evil, it is never a clear black n white picture, because where the black n white sides converge there is grey, lots of grey. Good vs evil is the same as where they converge there will be neutrality. My favorite example of this idea; the gazelle thinks the lion that wants to eat him is truly "evil", but the lion holds no malice or hate for the gazelle, he's is just hungry and this is what he must do to survive. This is what I love about you, your open mindedness and seeing your agreements n disagreements as an opportunity to discuss it from both sides/perspectives. I'd say that history would have much more interesting with you as my teacher, but we are nearly the same age, so I would have loved to been your classmate and really discussed all of these things, with open minds and hearts, with no malice for the other just because we didn't agree with each other. For that you are an amazing human! As are the rest of you here in this wonderful community! Am so glad to be a part of it! Thank you!

There are some of his writings which, if you did not know it was him who wrote it, you'd think it was a passage from Hitler's book. It also seems that Marx endorsed what we now call "cultural genocide." Which isn't on par with what Hitler was advocating, but it is a very inhumane thought processes. Essentially, Hitler was for racial genocide and cultural genocide. Karl Marx was for cultural genocide.

Point on the Indian civil war scenario:- one of the reason which triggered the unrest was the dive and conquer rule led by the British. There was some marginalization, but I would argue not having the British sow the unrest might have helped.
@AG-vb6vv2 жыл бұрын
That’s an outright lie created by leftist Congress historians who wanted to blame communal problems on the British. For the love of God, educate yourself. Hindus and Muslims have been at odds for nigh a millennium. Islamic oppression and conquest has been the bloodiest period of Indian history. Millions killed, enslaved and forcibly converted over the years. Temples destroyed, why to this date only South India has great ancient temples standing, with mosques built in their places. Even our great universities weren’t spared such as Nalanda. Islam is the reason Buddhism is extinct in India. Sharia Law and oppression related to that. Aurangzeb and his infamous hatred of Hindus. For Gods sake, Brits are like the Jews of India, we try and blame them for everything wrong with society, call a spade a spade - Islamic history in India and the nature of Islam is the reason for all the bad blood, not some clever manipulation by the Brits.

I always figured that in a US-Nazi Cold War, South Africa would be a major flashpoint. It wasn't until the post-war period that apartheid got codified into law properly, and power increasingly slipped from the hands of the Anglo South Africans to the Afrikaners/Boers. Whilst not all Afrikaners were Nazi sympathisers, there was generally a positive view of Germany and Germans amongst the Germanic Afrikaners. In our timeline, there was even an Afrikaner neo-Nazi party that emerged in the 1970s, the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging. I imagine with its strategic location and its status as the largest economy in Africa, that South Africa would be a major flashpoint of meddling by those two powers.

A better counter on the Hitler vs Marx is to contrast how people view Marx vs how people view Lenin/Stalin. The latter two, politicians who committed atrocities but did have some philosophical underpinnings are not viewed in nearly the same light as Marx is who was a philosopher and agitator. While Mein Kemp is a broader philosophical underpinning than Lenin and Stalin provided, Hitler's role in history is definitely closer to them.

To me its hard to follow the ideas of that alternative timeline because I 100% disagree with his assumption that the german economy would depend on further expansion. It might be true that germany would try to expand but the reasons would be different. Germany has been an economic powerhouse and is known as the land of innovation and technology. In video 3 that scenario suggests that germany will become an agrarculture and face starvation and massive inflations. This is just unimaginable to me. One thing that I also kinda miss in the video is a perspective on how the life of people living in germany would be. If he talks about it he only talks about the ideology and that people would be socialised into that nazi mindset. But I think it would be interesting to know how that scenario influences the life of the individuals from a sociopolitical perspective. Imo a crucial point about how the americans but also the people of other nations will evaluate the german system a few years after the war will come down to the point how the life is for the individual. People in the soviet union for example were pretty poor. They only were able to choose between like 5 different outfits when they went shopping, had to wait several years until they receive a car they ordered and they had very difficult living conditions. This is what people still have in mind when they think about soviet union. I wonder how it would have been with germany in that alternative timeline, especially under the condition that the german economy would reach new hights.

The entire series neglects China. Assuming that the Germans and US have a hostile relationship, the emergent Maoist China is now on the German’s far border. Does it ally with the Nazis? Unlikely. With the US? This, and the Middle East, would become the major geo-political areas of tension. Also, the further isolation of the US from Europe would have major implications on our policies with South America and Asia.

20:02 About fascism always losing, well, there's... Spain. Since Spain didn't have any relevant impact on foreign policies after its civil war (1936-39), it's normal that people often disregard it. But fascism kinda DID win in Spain. Franco rose to power and established a dictatorship that would last until his death in 1975. He hunted anyone who would oppose the regime, establish Catholicism as the main religion in the country (and mandatory, for his faction arrested people at the beginning of the civil war for even not going to mass), prohibit parties such as the Communist one, ban the right of association, strike, freedom of speech and so on. Some people might say that it wasn't a big deal: "Franco was not Stalin or Mao Zedong" and such, but nowadays Spain is the 2nd country in the world with the largest number of mass graves due to the atrocities committed in the Civil War and its aftermath. Spain didn't get involved in WWII for two reasons: 1) it was devastated right after its civil war (it had finished barely a few months before the invasion of Poland), and 2) Franco demanded a lot of territories in Western Africa Hitler was not willing to give up. And even so, Spain sent a volunteers-only division to fight in the Eastern Front alongside the nazis (it was called the Blue Division if you want to look it up). The point I'm trying to make is there is at least one case were fascism won, even though it kinda died after Franco did. In 1978 Spain restored democracy and all of the values Western countries hold, but we can agree at least that executing Mussolini or having the Nuremberg trials are not the same as letting your dictator die in bed of old age (even though there was some resistance over the decades). Spain is still divided in our current time due to that fact, and with the rise of extreme right movements during the last ten years, it's got even worse. The point I'm trying to make is we, the Spaniards, never needed a novel such as The Man in the High Castle. We already went through it.

Imagine a founding father trying to get their head around...women with equal rights, women with any rights, black people with any rights, acceptance of homosexuality, women in swimsuits, whites working side by side with minorities, etc, etc... yet we often think they would somehow do things better. Not only would this had occurred, such a scenario would have changed nothing from our timeline. 4:36 "Manpower" for nuke work would not have been a problem for Hitler and his fellow homicidal tyrants. Sending so called "subhumans" to death or sterilization by radiation poisoning in atomic factories would have made them pee their lieder hose with happiness!
