I'd argue that Ron actually WOULDN'T ask for a new chess set, as Harry notices (back in 1st year) that Ron's hand me down board is actually a perk. Harry is playing with an entirely new chess set and notices that his pieces are having an awful time trusting his judgement and keep trying to contradict him. Ron doesn't have this problem because he's played with his so much and his pieces know and trust him and his skill. Though to be fair, Harry might just be rubbish at chess and any self respecting chess piece might try to do the same 😂

I can sort of see Cedric dying in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries -- but not as an outright murder at the start; after all, in the main story, they didn't kill anyone. So if he does die, it's in the heat of battle, perhaps because he's more skillful than anyone else at the DA and therefore one of the Death Eaters (somehow, I'd think, not Lucius but one of the others -- Bellatrix perhaps?) decided to take him out. Or, if Lucius *does* kill him, it's inadvertently, as a result of another spell (maybe a stunning spell that makes him fall or crash into something lethal), not an outright Killing Curse.

Low-key, the Infiltration of the Ministry had all Houses Representation, and that deserves comment. Harry really united the four houses to fight against Voldemort. Also, I think killing Cedric instantly was a missed opportunity. I think it would have given him his due if he and Harry were the last ones standing against the Death Eaters before the Order arrived, and Lucius strikes Cedric in the back as he defends the four downed allies. Really show off Hufflepuff and Slytherin ideology; The Champion of Hufflepuff defending his friends to the last, and the Slytherins working to draw his attention so one of their number can strike from the back.

I think one of the reasons the room of requirements was used rather than chamber of secrets is cause while both places are well hidden, the room of requirements proves whatever supplies and equipment you need. Another being that I don't think many student would be happy with the idea of going down to a place where dark deeds happened, with a dark history, and a basilisk, which I doubt many students would be willing to go near.

Only someone who can speak parseltongue can open the chamber. I can imagine Harry just standing at the entrance, hissing at the tap every time a student enters the bathroom to let them into the club. Or maybe the entrance stays open until closed and someone might come to use that particular bathroom and ends up discovering the DA club. Or Myrtle could be a snitch. Or maybe, the room of requirement is more helpful than the chamber of secrets bc it can provide you with stuff you may need (spell books, cushions, etc), not to mention the fact there isn't blood and slime and the skeleton of a basilisk in the room of requirement. Chamber is cool, but the room of requirement is better.

I see your theory is sticking to "the universe pulls toward certain events even when they are thwarted" but I think it's less likely than the Butterfly effect. For example, Kreacher was able to fool Harry because Sirius was busy with Buckbeak, whom he doesn't own in your version of the story, so Sirius shouldn't die at all.

I've said it on this video storyline towel section before: SCB really have to get the details in order or they'll miss out on big plot holes that really affect the feasability of their "What if...Slytherin" theory; I love this channel, & I do find the story/theory entertaining, but it's got to the point where the plot holes are approaching crater size, which is a crying shame given how good these guys are at writing

Ron opens the chamber by imitating Harry in Deathly Hallows. Maybe Umbridge makes Cho imitate Harry's Parsel to open it. It works for Ron, so I imagine it could work for Cho aswell.

She didn't had to get inside the chamber, just wait for them to get out of it. Not like they would have had the option of not leaving, as all she would have had to do was keep track of what students didn't return to their dorms. One thing to bring up though is that the parchment with the list of names and the "Dumbledore's Army" heading would have been safe, so curious how that would have changed the interrogation as that was used as a triumph card of sorts by Fudge to "force" Dumbledore to flee

I really don't like how Neville doesn't just go with the gang to the Ministry of Magic. Seems to me he'd want to help fight the death eaters, Bellatrix and the others who tortured his parents especially. I don't think St. Mungos was covered in this but presumably most of the events there did happen so Harry now knows about the torture too. He might only think it fair for Neville to get to come along. He was also shown to really like the DA in this version of events so he could easily want to volunteer to help along with Ginny and Luna. There is no reason there would have to be just six students going. Neville might not have a broom but could just ride a threstral since he can see them too. Cedric can come along as well and just be a 7th person, but Neville really does need to go. In this version of events Neville has very little character development or involvement and having him face those who tortured his parents would fill in some of that while also giving the fact that he is supposed to be the other kid possibly linked to the prophecy to have more weight.

I think Ron and Hermione in this version would even be closer friends and fall in love quicker than in the original books. Since Harry is in Slytherin Ron and Hermione would spend a lot more time alone together and Ron in this version is a lot more self-confident and not always in Harry's shadow. He wouldn´t fall in love with Cho because Ron and Harry just don´t have the same taste in women. (that is my opinion at least)

That's a big gripe with this for me, the characters are still the same, with similar characteristics, why would their taste in women change *this* drastically. Harry and Cho not happening would make sense, since if he'd develop feelings later, Cedric would be much more of an obstacle. Same with Ron and Hermoine happening earlier, or even love interests that they before would barely know or interacted with. (If written well enough.)

I personally think Hermione and Ron would actually be much LESS likely to happen at ALL because in their earlier years Harry is the one who acts as their "middle ground" a lot of the time. He bridges the gap for their differences in opinion and mediates their arguments because they are both stubborn as mules and don't back down otherwise. Without him in the middle, the two would actually be a bit more distant, a bit more snippy and definitely more argumentative with each other especially since Hermione and Ron don't really share a lot of common, overlapping interests to bond over either. Funnily enough their friendship with Harry is one of the few things they have in common during their early life and with him being a smaller presence the chances of them getting closer together is also reduced (They're called the "golden trio" for a reason, it's because they balance each other out). In the end they might still get together if the cards fall the right way but it would be much less likely and probably take just as long if not longer for it to happen organically.

In the scene where Lucious is asking for the prophecy, it wouldn't make sense for Cedric to die. They were trying to bargain with Harry to make him hand over the prophecy. Killing Cedric would have accomplished nothing considering they were trying to bargain.

I agree. The way they went about killing Cedric was in poor taste. The Death Eaters knew that only Harry could pick up the prophecy without consequence and had to be careful about how they introduced themselves, which is why they opted for bargaining. Doing something rash would only have a greater chance of smashing the prophecy due to startling Harry to the point of dropping it. Even Bellatrix, with as trigger happy as she is with curses, could see that causing a panic wasn’t the best play. I think it would’ve been much more fitting to have Cedric fall in battle after the Death Eaters realized just how skilled of a wizard Cedric is and it would’ve had the same effect that SCB was gunning for. They still could’ve pinned the blame on Lucius and Draco still couldn’t have shown his face around school. Overall a bad piece of writing on SCB’s end that I’m not thrilled about in the slightest.

I agree! Just hitting him with the killing curde out of nowhere wouldn't make sense. Especially if lucius is the one to do it. He has something to lose by killing cedric (bad for draco) and also i don't think the death eaters have any reason to mindlessly kill a student. In the books, all the death eaters casts is harmfull spells not lethal one at the students. Maybe if he catches a stray during the fight then it's plausible but again, in the books during the ministry fight sirius was hit by a stunning spell and not the killing curse

Something that I just realized after watching. Since Cedric lived and went to the Department of Mysteries with the group, it creates something that is absolutely incredible. Harry is in Slytherin, Ron Hermione and Ginny are in Gryffindor, Luna is in Ravenclaw, and Cedric is in Hufflepuff Meaning that all 6 members of Dumbledors Army unintentionally did what the Sorting Hat and Dumbledore have wanted for a long time. They united all the Houses again.

I’m a little peeved at why Cedric still had to die…feels really forced I just went back and reread Chapter 35, and at NO POINT during the acquisition of the prophecy or in the standoff with the Death Eater ambush OR in the ensuing chaos/chase scene is a killing curse *successfully* used, especially considering the wish to keep the prophecy itself intact Otherwise this plotline is almost better than the original thing ngl Love these vids 💜

Whilst I'm also sad he dies, I don't think it feels forced. An ambush that starts by killing someone feels a lot more threatening and real than just saying 'hey you gimme that'. I think it fits really well here, and it would have way more emotional weight with the readers having known cedric for essentially twice the amount of time we'd known him in the books.

Since there was no established reason for Lucius to hate Cedric enough to rip the life out of his body, if feels out of character for him to slaughter children unprovoked. Why randomly pick him? Thanks for this series. A few of my thoughts, most of which are similar to everyone else's: I like what you're doing with Draco. I assume this direction means you won't have him going after the diadem in DH? I have always hated that he was there. It completely ruined the sympathetic, redeemable direction that had been going on before that. Like a lot of people, I just don't get the crush changes. Harry's attraction to Cho was because he thought she was pretty, not because of her quidditch skills. Maybe things are delayed a little, but I don't see that happening. Same with Harry-Hermione. If they weren't attracted to each other before, why now? That's one relationship I loved in the books because it was platonic and I don't think fiction has enough of that. I am confused with Cedric's death. That was so completely different than it was in the book and didn't make sense to me. I feel like the smash shelves strategy would still happen, and the fight more or less happens as it did in the books.

Harry & Hermione have had very different interactions and at different times which could completely change the nature of there relationship Cedric would be considered a much greater threat then anyone who went on the mission originally due to his reputation is likely Lucius(or a Random Death Eater) saw that and felt the need to stomp him out before he became a threat

Meaning that logically with his personality in this fanfic, Harry still has a type, meaning that he still would end up with Ginny. But as usual, SCB just use any "what-if" scenario to find any way to shoehorn in a romance between Harry and Hermione; they did the same thing apparently with Sirius being the secret keeper. But what if's are fanfiction by nature, and they strongly believe that Harry and Hermione could have fallen for each other if the circumstances were different, and yes a lot of people vehemently disagree with that notion, but nothing can really be proven, just argued one way or the other. The SCB have they're version and they like it, that's what's so fun about these what if's, hearing everyone's different versions and debating what we each think would happen.

That doesn't mean that I cannot criticize the fact that they have a much wider agenda beyond "let's make a nice story about Harry being in Slytherin", and one that has nothing to do with Harry being in Slytherin in the first place. Not to mention that SCB aren't even upfront about that agenda in the first place and just treat it as something meant to be happening in this AU story, or in any other AU for that matter. And it stems from them not only believing that Harry/Hermione could have happened if thing had massively changed -- something that I happen to agree with -- but them believing that it should have happened _in the main canon story to begin with_ .

Yeah it was really great except for the Cedric death scene. Like sure feel free to kill him, but I don't think Lucius would kill him. Especially as they were trying to negotiate first to get the prophecy to their side safely. Honestly I feel like Bellatrix should kill Cedric, because 1. She's unhinged enough to just kill for not much of a reason. And 2. It's sort of poetic that Cedric replaced Neville here and then died by the same woman who tortured his parents. Just an interesting flow in that idea. I also do wish you explained how Umbridge got down into the chamber of secrets though. As unless the door stays open until every person leaves, she shouldn't have been able to get through the two Parselmouth locks. Even if Draco recalled how to open the chamber after his possession. Because I don't see why he'd open it for her)

Not sure why he didn't this pretty much means he's going to still be bad at magic and not have great confidence. Neville broke his father's wand here and his gran is forced to buy him his own proper one while also she has her first moment of pride in him for facing Bellatrix and co which inspires him to be more assertive by the time DH rolls around. Without this he'll still be using a wand that doesn't fit him and continually be looked down on by his gran.

Just a few things: -Wasn’t Cedric already in his last year of Hogwarts in gof? I thought somewhere in poa they said he was in his 6th year then so he shouldn’t be in Hogwarts during ootp. -As many others have stated I also don’t see Lucius straight up killing anyone as he tried talking Harry into handing over the prophecy. If you really want Cedric dead you could let him die in the battle (or in a later battle as he isn’t in Hogwarts in ootp). -You kind of glossed over how Kreacher managed to distract Sirius so he could lie to Harry. In the original story he hurts Buckbeak but he isn’t there now. -I don’t know why Harry should be caught when the DA is found out. I mean they are in the Chamber of Secrets where Umbridge can’t get them. And once they leave they will immediately go to bathrooms where they have good cover - let alone they have a freaking basilisk with them so I don’t see them easily beating any Umbridge opposition and then being able to wipe their memory if they want to.

@@arkrusted this isn’t 100% accurate as Angelina from the Gryffindor Quidditch team was in her 6th year in Goblet of Fire and was able to enter, she just didn’t get picked. She then becomes quidditch captain in Order of the Phoenix. So if any 6th year turned 17 before the drawing of champions they would’ve been allowed to enter. I’m not sure what year Cedric was in, it was his 6th or 7th. Like the original creator of this comment said though, it may have mentioned in Prisoner of Azkaban, I just can’t remember for sure.

I can think of at least two ways that the truth could have been extracted: a pensieve, as you suggested; and truth serum. Harry would have consented to either, or both. I suspect Fudge avoided them precisely because, on some level, he suspected Harry might be telling the truth -- and didn't want that truth revealed. Idea for another alternative scenario: what if Fudge had taken the advice Dumbledore had given him back at the end of GoF? How would that have changed the course of the war? I'm sure there's already fanfic out there exploring this... There are in fact two alternatives within this: 1) Fudge goes all the way with Dumbledore, reveals the truth to the wizarding world and takes tough measures openly; 2) Fudge believes that Voldemort is back, starts taking security measures against him -- but still refuses to reveal this truth to the wizarding community at large, as he doesn't want to cause a panic. Which would still lead to tension between him and Dumbledore.

I really didn't like this one. I had issues with no Slytherins being in the DA in the main books because it paints the house as being monolithically evil. I think with Harry being in Slytherin, they would definitely have been a handful to join him in resisting Umbridge. Also, Lucious has ZERO reason to kill Cedric there. Maybe in the ensuing battle, but I think you guys forgot he originally tried to be deceptively diplomatic with the DA.

One minor complaint: I doubt Fred and George would pull off their escape and bail on the Quidditch team if they managed to avoid getting banned. They mayhem would happen after the final match, and there is probably even a version of events where they hang around long enough to join the gang on their trip to the department of mysteries. Also, Lucius getting busted for killing Cedric might have MAJOR consequences. Doubt Draco would be allowed to return home and get roped into Voldy's plan to kill Dumbledore, which means Snape might not have to kill him, and he might live long enough to give Harry critical information before the cursed ring does him in.

Once again I am impressed by your analysis on this "What If..." theory, especially things with Draco. At first, I personally had thought that you were going to make Draco didn't end up in the Inquisitorial Squad as he claimed that he didn't know what they were looking for that night, so it kinda didn't sit right with me when he was still ended up in the IS given his personal tribulation of his own belief like I think he couldn't even be bothered by Umbridge's fuss at all, but it was brilliant of you to make him helped Harry and the rest of DA escaped from Umbridge's clutches in the end and Draco being in the IS actually made his action brought about an unexpected surprise and made a lot more sense. About the subtle feelings between the characters, Harry and Hermione, Ron and Cho, imo it's not an entirely impossible scenario if Harry was in Slytherin, so I'm just gonna enjoy it until the very end and see how it unfolds. Although, I was surprised by how you brought about Lucius' action in the Ministry. In my humble opinion, his act of killing one of the students kinda spoils Lucius' character that I've perceived from the novel. I could picture him confronting and or blaming Harry for his son's wavering conviction among other things. And the one who rebuked him was none other than Cedric being the kind and full of sense of justice he was, would probably say "...despite being in the dark environment for his whole life, your son has a very sound mind..." (or something along those lines, sorry I don't have a knack in this department) and would probably the one who started the chaos and told the rest of the team to get out from the Hall of Prophecy ASAP. And I'd like to think, in the Death Chamber, Bellatrix saw a chance to end Sirius' life during the whole chaos and cast the killing curse at Sirius. But, you know what I was thinking, it was Cedric that took the bullet. He saw strange glints in Bellatrix's eyes and sensed a strong killing intent in her spell, without much thought he rushed at the trajectory of the spell and what happened next was like a dream for Harry (pls bear with my imagination). But, I won't criticize you as it was your take and you're free to deduce it however you want. And I still really enjoy your version of it and can't wait for the next book to be realized. Great job as always! P.S: I really love the idea that the Chamber of Secret was used in this alternate timeline and of course our big pet, Basilisk as its appearance is something I really look forward to which makes me sad for what is going to become in the end.

Avada Kedavra would definitely not be Lucius' choice of spell because it breaks from the Death Eaters' plan of "working in the dark for as long as possible", but I do think Cedric dying needed to happen in some way - perhaps a series of injurious spells, making it hard to deduce which one ultimately did him in. (A stunner itself is not lethal, but if you knock hard into enough firm objects to internally bleed or become concussed, or fall into a pile of shattered glass and bleed enough... or fall into the veil...) In this version of OOTP, even to the students in the DA and that believe Harry, Voldemort's return is a concept far removed from their reality. Cedric makes real to them that their safety is not guaranteed and he becomes a rallying cry that their education and government has fatally failed them. His death in GOF marks a turning point of lost innocence, that not even uninvolved and innocent children are safe from the cruelty of evil and war, of undeniable consequences to anyone of inconvenience to Voldemort. Without his death, the student body at large stays as unaffected by Voldemort's shenanigans as they have in books 1-3. On another note, I think it's hilarious that this 'theory' is essentially SuperCarlinBrother's HP fanfiction, down to the encouraging of fanart of specific scenes and I love it. I've read a fair number of "Harry as a Slytherin" fanfic and while I don't agree that Ron would ever crush on Cho, have mixed ideas about the Harry/Hermione set up, and definitely know yall included healing the basilisk but without the fatal eyes for the awesome-factor, there's many smaller butterfly effects that other's haven't touched on that I think are brilliant. But Neville definitely should've gone to the Ministry with them, there was no reason he wouldn't have.

A great thing about the Chamber of Secrets being used for the DA lessons is that Salazar Slytherin's ideals are cunning and ambition which suits the group perfectly especially since they are sneaking behind the teachers backs back to achieve their goals (guess it's called Chamber of Secrets for a reason now lol). Plus, the Chamber of Secrets and the Basilisk are being used for a good purpose this time around to help all students learn including Muggleborns which essentially shows off the good side of Slytherin cunning and ambitious nature as opposed to what the dark wizards use it for.

First of all I want to say that these epic series like Dumbledor's big plan and this one are the best videos that you have prepared!!!!!! Thank you very much for that because with this fresh view and the new storyline it is like reading HP again but not knowing what to expect which is amazing! Regarding the storyline I tend to agree with some people. Especially in this book it seems that many things could have taken a different direction. 1)Cho's betrayal seems a bit too much 2)Umbridge being able to locate and open the Chamber of Secrets is not explained 3)Fred and George create a mess also seems a bit unecessary 4)Peeves breaking the vanishing cabinet also should not have happened (but I can see the reason of that being part of this storyline too) 5)Lucious killing Cedric seems to be totally unecessary and not even agreeing with the canon. One quibble, I think the reason why Harry witnessed the reviews of so many of his professors in the books was due less on Umbrage having a set schedule, and more on the fact that Umbrage was always out to demoralize Harry. I thought Harry being slytherin would really change many things in this book, and I still think it should have been like that, I feel that in this part of the story Harry could have been more related to his housemates and that in fact, more slytherin students attended the meetings against Umbridge, personally, this video is the closest thing to the canon even it has a lot of material for not being like that. The part of Lucius killing Cedric, for me just doesn’t have any sense. Draco's character development seems to me to be an excellent part and I like the relationship he has with Harry. I also hope that this is not a Harry/Hermione thing since even in this version, it doesn't seem the most logical thing to me. An extra fact is that the extra boy with whom Harry shares a room in Slytherin is called Theodore Nott.

I agree. I’m not sure why they’re going down the Harry/Hermione route as I don’t think being in Slytherin is going to change who he’s attracted to. Especially since in this version he is still very much the same person he was in the original. Personally I think being in Slytherin for 5 years would have had more of on impact than they’re showing in this but they’re obviously trying to keep as close to the original events as possible to avoid having videos that are hours long.

@@pammtchl yeah your experiences affect how you handle yourself in the world not who you're attracted to. I think some of his decisions should be different than they are. But I think he should have still been attracted to Cho and I dont think Ron would have. I don't see how just playing against her in that specific game is automatically gonna make someone get a crush on her. And Hermione should still have developed feelings for Ron and vice versa.

I really love these videos and look forward to them every week! Idk about Cedric tho-it seems a bit forced because they didn’t kill anyone and use that curse in the books. I don’t think Cedric is so killable that they would change their tactics because he is there. If I am missing something tho I’d like to hear the thoughts of others

99% sure it wasn’t Lucius they just make it seem like that so it impacts Draco and also so Cedric does cuz of plot reasons, I don’t see a reason why Lucius would kill Cedric but we know that a bunch of death eaters were also there and a different one could have easily killed Cedric, all we really know is that they had a shrill voice which, could be many people

He was 17 in Goblit of Fire, so wouldn't that have been his last year at Hogwarts? Wouldn't he not be there for Order of the Phoenix if he had lived?

He wasn't necessarily in his seventh year. If you remember in Harry's sixth year, most of his potions class is already 17 and gone taking the apparation test. EDIT: I'm not sure if it specifies in PoA or not.

Cedric is specifically mentioned as a 5th year in Prisoner of Azkaban, so he would still be at Hogwarts for Order of the Phoenix.

I agree with a lot of people on the Cedric thing, killing him off the way they did was just pointless and made no sense. If they really wanted to kill Cedric off, why not do it in the battle that followed, not randomly the way they did. I don’t feel like switching Cedric and Neville would lead to that dramatic of a change. Something else I don’t agree with is how Cho is portrayed and also that Harry being in Slytherin would change his feelings for her. I also don’t believe Ron would like her either. Am I the only one that feels this way? Harry doesn’t need to play against Cho in quidditch to notice her and think she’s cute. It seems to mainly be physical attraction that leads him to like her in the first place, nothing else. I also don’t think Ron would like her because he never seems to have interest in her in the first place. Playing quidditch against her wouldn’t change that. And although having Harry and Hermione together would be interesting I still feel like Ron would be into Hermione. And I just honestly think Cho is too good of a person to turn in the DA, she’s not like her friend Marietta! Most of the changes in the story have been great, but Cedric’s death and the weird change with Ron being into Cho and Harry not doesn’t seem to make sense to me. I know a lot of people agree with the Cedric thing but anyone agree with my thoughts about the whole Cho situation or is it just me?

The thing about Cho... she was just there for Cedric. She probably wouldn't have been interested in Ron at all, and even if she may have admired Harry, like Hermoine said, it was only because he was the CHOsen one, which I'm fairly certain is intentional. Anyway, unless we're going to trash her character, I don't see any reason to bring up Ron or Harry's affections toward an already taken girl, especially since they have no actual relevance to the plot. I kinda just ignored that bit and shrugged it off. Doesn't matter one way or the other.

Yeah, I'm guessing that in this scenario Ron would still have feelings for Hermione, only this time he would have a ton more alone time with her and probably more confidence than in the original timeline. Overall I love this analysis, but the bits about Harry and Hermione seem to just be fan service for a storyline hypothetical that a lot of people want. There isn't any actual evidence to support it. Also, there was absolutely no reason or justification to kill Cedric here, and he wouldn't even make much more of an impact on the story considering he is in his final year at this point so wouldn't be around after this book anyway. The only impact he would have is maybe giving the Order of the Phoenix another strong member for the sixth and seventh books.

I honestly don't think Draco knowing how to Patronus would tick of Lucuis much at all. It was established back in Prisoner that the Patronus Charm is on the schools base curriculum (I think Lupin says its sixth year stuff but I am not sure), so Draco was gonna learn it eventually. While yes Lucuis would expect Draco to not need such a charm if he pursued a career in DARKNESS I highly doubt Lucius was expecting Malfoy to be a wallowing pile of misery while still in school, especially in year 3. In fact I dare say Lucius would be proud of Draco for picking up such high level magic by only his third year. Its kind of like all those English classes you have to take in middle school. Will being able to process all the metaphorical levels of The Yellow Wallpaper help you in your future career? Probably not, but its impressive that you can.

I've wondered if occlumency has different ways to do it. Like in the final book Harry seems to be able to do it, by using he's love and not his emotionlessness.

In an interview Rowling said Harry never masters Occlumency because comparmentalizing his emotions just isn't his skillset. His feelings, likes and dislikes are obvious and never hidden, even when it gets him in trouble like with Umbridge. Repeatedly. Occlumency, from the root "Occlusion" means "hiding" or being covert which Harry cannot do.

Thanks for the surprising plot twist, but i think it has some weaknesses. 1. House influence- You ignore the traits of the houses and their effect on the students. If harry did sort to Slytherin, he would be very ambitious and probbably way more smarter. He would aspire to power for influence the slytherins that power and intelligence can go with pure heart. he would learn about the family past, about his ancestors, If the truth be told, this is Harry's great quest in the original series that Dumbledore is hiding from him so he can raise him as a pig for slaughter and more theories iv'e has about it. The findings about his family will make him invest heavily in potions and transfiguration and DADA (the top subject of Lilly and Fleamont potter and James Potter) and will make him an excellent student. Certainly when he doesn't know about his father and Snape's past fights he would be proud. 2. Romance- A slytherin Harry is way less suitable candidate for Hermione love. I'm sure he would ended up married to Ginny who has a dark side and fit very well as the heir of Lilly Potter. but i thinks a slytherin Harry would be more flirty and experienced and less chivalrous and awkward. experienced some girls before go to Ginny. (maybe some of Fluer friends or she?) 3. Fame, Politics and public relations- We know that Dumbledore stays far from politics and tries to keep Harry away. Harry as a Slytherin student in my eyes is not afraid to use politics for his righteous purposes. I've always wondered why, beyond laughing at Lockhart's meanness, Harry didn't learn from him how to manage fame. Why wizards from other countries do not intervene in the war in Britain and why no connections have been made, probably after the Quidditch World Cup and the Triwizard Tournament. Harry as a Slytherin student will use this to his advantage, the British Ministry of Magic is discriminating against him? No problem, the flagship newspaper of the French Ministry of Magic gets a debut interview with the rising star, Harry Potter. Also in relation to the previous points in relation to revelations about his family and academic excellence, Harry may exchange letters with Bethulda Bagshot, Magwamp, Nicola Flamel, famous potions apothecaries and other researchers of magic, that seems to be an ambition. The above analysis makes much more sense as a Slytherin student than using a basilisk exposed for all to see. And yes, Harry would become an animagus like the Marauders. 4. The murder of Cedric seems like a tax for the original series for me. I can't imagine how Neville not involved in the adventure. I prefer one or two more years to Sirius but according to Rowling, all the marauders should die. 5. I can imagine Slytherin Harry who diplomatic with Snape become an expert in legilimency (and Potions, Dark arts and more, Snape promise to help Lilly's son, right?), but it didn't make sense because the different relation Voldy and Harry has, based on souls. 6. I always ask myself what Mcgonagall did to make Harry Auror after the calm conversation with Umbridge.

I mean Harry was there and witnessed his mother died from the killing curse but being 15 months old he couldn't process it which is why it took watching Cedric die to have it work but yeah in the books he had close his eyes but I imagine you know you would still see a flash of green through your eyelids cuz you do see like through your eyelids and I imagine as soon as he opened them and saw the dead boy he's still process it as if he saw him get hit with the curse

why have the cabinet stay fixed just to break it as a side note? why make note of how things were different just to say, it all works out the same! it completely detracts from the entire plot. harry would believe snape, despite his knowledge of sirius and snapes disagreements, he's his head of house, and he trusts him. snape hasnt done him wrong - taking away a few points so far

I thought for a good minute that Draco was going to go with them to the ministry--what would that have been like? How would Lucius have reacted, expecting to find Harry and a bunch of anti-Voldemort friends...and finds his son? Even if Draco had refused to fight--pretended he'd been dragged along as a hostage--we all know Bellatrix would never have let Lucius hear the end of it and she would have told Voldemort IMMEDIATELY. But you could probably still have Draco be given the mission to kill Dumbledore--Voldemort punishing and testing the loyalty of the whole family...

My only disagreement is that I don’t feel that Cedric would have died in the ministry, simply because I don’t see any reason why the initial confrontation with Lucius would have happened differently and last time he didn’t come out swinging with Avada Kadavra to kill Neville (whose place Cedric took in this version).

No offence, but I really hope this wont be Harry/Hermione, cause I love Harry/Ginny. Also, I think without Harry crushing on Cho, he would realise much earlier that he likes Ginny, like noticing when she's going out with Michael instead of Dean. Also he wouldn't be friends with Dean, so he's not struggling as much over "the urge to jinx Dean into a jelly"? Also how does Umbridge, and for that matter Dobby, get into the chamber?

I think Harry only ever liked Ginny because he saw her as a sure thing and weirdly had really low self esteem. He was wrestling with himself about getting with her without any recent evidence that she still liked him. She is literally going out with someone else, and later when she is single, she still hasn't shown any sign of being into him.
