How?🤣 HoI4 works on althistory logic where there IS a plot inside USSR. But Stak tries to make realistic scenarios and thus there is no plot to exploit, only incompetence and paranoia.

@@TheArklyte there was a plot inside the USSR; the question isn't "was there a plot", but "how extensive was it?" and to that it's really hard to say. undeniable proof of a plot against the central committee in the USSR relies on two things: the personal correspondence of trotsky (which, as proven by a series of letters between himself and his son leon sedov that were confirmed to be legitimate by independent french investigators, lays out that a trotskyist anti-government bloc was formed and created in the government to start working against it in secret) and reliable testimony, the latter of which is far less common than the first. at the very least multiple factions formed to oppose the government and _some_ engaged in wreckage, but there's no proof that _most_ engaged in wrecking nor even that most wanted to overthrow the government. one's also gotta take into account that the absolute worst of the yezhovschinha was done _by_ yezhov without orders from the central committee or even the supreme soviet, which is ultimately why he was purged in 1938 and replaced (although the government's knowledge of yezhov's actions is debatable at best). if you want my take, i think the plot existed and had plans but it wasn't nearly as large as the government thought. it wasn't going to overthrow the government, but it was a threat; a threat whose explicit purpose was to start a second revolution. it wasn't large nor terrifically dangerous, but it existed and sabotaged the USSR to at least _some_ extent.

edit: the ‘new1930’ is set in (shockingly) 1930, under a year after Trotsky’s exile. if strict realism is a barrier, this mod may work. not sure if it’ll need console commands or not as it is relatively easy (original comment below) more realistically would be right opposition with cooperation with the left into return democracy to the party *however*, Trotsky USSR is very fun with the free war goals and uprisings behind enemy lines

But say they got more prepared in this new timeline then Germany wouldn't get a chance, that front was guarded very lightly and with enough preparation from the allies they could have got to the rhine, idk how things would go from then though, probably a stalemate over the river

If Stalin declared First there wouldn't be enough propaganda that could convince say the Baltics or the Ukrainians to fight, and many russians would probably sway to the germans too. Perhaps the ussr could win still, but with waaaaay greater losses and much more discontent among the population of the union, perhaps the soviet union would dissolve way before 1991 in this timeline due to the discontent and general independence sentiments across the union

Still if the U.S. was to invade North Africa their still a lot of issues the Italian Air Force, Navy, then the Italian Army would have been more better equipped and trained, when the war broke out in June 1940 Italian Army still had 17 divisions that were under 50 % ready. That needed to be equipped, trained, organized.

The germans would not have needed to garrison the western front, would not have taken the casualties from western/northern europe and there would be no bottomless pit of resources that was rommel in africa. In short, the soviet union would be doomed. No lend lease(at least not on a massive scale), no extra fronts and with the polish military on the axis side.

The Maginot line is a very complex subject, it was supposed to continue into Belgium, but Belgium was against it as it was a neutral state, then the purpose of the Maginot line changed, it was supposed to convey the German forces through Belgium, the french expected them to attack it. But they weren't expecting blitzkrieg tactics so the french army got crushed, then the government surrendered.

I don't think the German forces could've ever punched through the maginot if it covered the whole front. Also it would've given the allies so much extra time to mobilize and learn.

@@cassu6 well, the french army in 1939-1940 still didn't use radio for coordination, had a poor military staff organizzation as well as having politcal/internal problems. Even if they managed to make a new maginot, new ways would've been found. Either a breakthrough throo the switz alps or, an invasion coordinated with the luftwaffen of strategic points of the new maginot. Either way, the terrain near belgium made any fortifications 10x more costly due to forests ecc.

I enjoyed this what if concept. I'd add that at the end Italy would more than likely ally with Spain. Once the European democracies didn't have "mustache man" as a spooky threat they'd start to see the fascist regimes in a more hostile light. Week 5 of asking @stakuyi to play Communist Hippogriffia in HoI4 EaW: Basically everything is mostly straght-forward, but I should notice that in case of losing North Zebrican War - Hippogriffia will get one of bad endings. Also you SHOULD be nice, otherwise Posada get depressed and commits nuclear self-un-aliving with 5 possible quick endings after that. In theory you can spare scientists for sweet-sweet bonuses only if you don't take other unethical options. It was already in full swing, there would be way less deaths though. There are a few way it could be prevented though. If AH died during the first world war (but we don't know maybe someone worse could have taken his place, someone like goering or Himmler), or if the people of Germany voted differently, if AH was kept in his prison, if Hindenburg didn't suddenly die, if the Versailles treaty was less harsher, if the Versailles treaty was way harsher, if Germany got help rebuilding after ww1, if the Weimar constitution was written by competent people and didn't have holes as big as a Whore Vagina. Lots of possibilities really

@@giulianopisciottano8302 But didn't the holocaust only start in earnest in 1941? Yes, the germans did discriminate against the jews and slavs since 1933/34 and the nazis did start segregating and deporting jews with the invasion of Poland (September 1939), but (according to wikipedia) the systematic killing of interred jews started only after the invasion of Poland ("Final Solution" starting in late 1941). Since in Steves Simulation the Second World War never really happened and AH even died before Poland would've been invaded in our timeline, doesn't that mean that the holocaust never really happened? It's also worth to mention that, according to a 2019 paper, roughly one third of all jews killed during the holocaust died between August and October of 1942. I unfortunately couldn't find any reference to numbers of jews killed per year, to see how the kill-rates were before or after this peak, but since most sources only start counting after 1941, I can only assume that the systematic deportation and murder of holocaust victims only started after that.

My suggestion is the same thing in this video, but Anschluss still goes through. Reminder how much the French and British public did NOT want another war and that how much German tampering there was in Austria's decision to join the Reich is hotly contested. Many Austrians DID want union with Germany. Since things would turn out very similar if a war broke out over the Sudetenland, appeasement will continue until morale improves/all hell breaks loose.

Lack of History teachers that students connect to is causing the rapid decline in knowledge of the subject . Then add propaganda that can lead to not trusting what is written. Thanks for the videos, hope you enjoyed the trip. ❤❤
