I always thought Jeff was a very honest and sincere man. Your solo could be the one he "maybe" would have played if for some reason he'd been asked to play one, also because it doesn't sound like a solo, just an incredible collection of his licks, signature rhythms and sound, all cleverly put together. Hats off, I feel a lot of respect for him in your work and to show it, you speak in your own voice to explain how you constructed this solo. For the first time. Again, thank you for your time and dedication from France. I really appreciate it.

Really nice playing, as usual, by Pascal! Have you ever heard the album "Norwegian Wood 2," a Japan release from 1989? In the song "Roll Over Beethoven," Jeff does a short solo that should make you grin. :)

I was digging the large Paper Thin Crash cymbals throughout the solo. I always agreed with Jeff that drum solos are pointless, (but groove and feel keep the listener craving a solo)!

According to Steve Lukather it went like this “So we’re hanging out with Quincy Jones and Quincy asked if Jeff could do a solo. Eddie Van Halen was walking by and said ‘yeah man’ and it was at that time I had Donald Fagan on the phone and he was all like ‘Jeff doing a solo? Naaaw.’ So I went to studio B and there was Michael Jackson and he said ‘Paul McCartney is having Jeff do a solo?’ So I called Paul…” Rick Beato nods silently.

I don't hear a linear solo, just a lot of licks. A good solo to me is hummable while the piece here is choppy and "tuneless."
@Bubbles_699216 ай бұрын
All this time and I thought Pascal was just narrating his work throughout the videos in third person...
@hectormann18436 ай бұрын
Thanks! Cool idea, great playing, but no way a solo by Jeff whould have been played like this. It sounds like sections put together and rehearsed, but to me Jeff is more brilliant and more musical than that, Jeffs solo would have been more glued together, and he would have played with more power, soul and feel, not used that many ideas, he would have stayed longer in each idea, and he would played more unique and cool lines, and with a more improvised feeling. We all would have been blown away by his solo, for sure! That’s my thoughts. But you did a great job anyway! :)
