Hello. Fil was NOT "Reacting" to a video of Ken Tamplin singing. He was doing an analysis video by REQUEST (that's what he does) b/c someone asked him if, in a particular video, Ken was miming the vocals. Fil never said Ken wasn't a great singer or musician; he only pointed out that in parts of a live performance, the lip synching/ guitar miming, that he was asked by request to do. And he found that parts were mimed/ lip synched. Of course Ken can sing well. We know this.

Fil has great accuracy with the notes. He's great. I personally like to sing to capture all the nuances of Steve Perry's vocals. This comes from 40 years of my singing practice though (with no singing lessons other than straight from the artist's records). My dilemma is that I'm a timid (shy) singer in front of people. Anyway, I would like to see more of an effort to capture Steve Perry's tone, inflections, and that unique "throaty" voice that he produces when he sings. This is just the perfectionist in me talking. This being said, Fil is a great musician and hit the notes very well. However, he is singing the song in a lower register which is much easier on the voice, and is not as much of a challenge. That's just my objective take anyway. All of this being said, Fil is a really lovely guy and I really enjoy his videos.

TBH, it became obvious to me while editing this video that Fil was in a lower register. For a second, I thought of adjusting the pitch of Ken's voice to match Fil's where Ken demo'd some parts. Pause the video and then click this 1:54 to see why I call him Ken "the chameleon" Tamplin. Chameleons catch flies by thrusting their tongue out from their mouth a long distance and the fly gets stuck on the end and then they pull it back into their mouth and enjoy their delectable prize, mmm-mmm, that went down nice (chameleon thinking). You can see that Ken looks exactly like he's about to do just that.

@@JohanYoung I actually made a short about it on another channel using that very clip where I put that timestamp link to, but zoomed n on Ken's face. It goes back and forth between Ken with his tongue ready to eject and a chameleon with it's tongue slightly out. Then the chameleon's tongue goes all the way out and catches a grasshopper and pulls it back into its mouth. The narrator says "yum yum" when it goes to a shot of Ken's face looking happy and content. I also put the violin music and woman screaming sounds from the movie Psycho the whole time before the yum yum part. The short's called Ken the Chameleon Tamplin. It's very short but hilarious.

Fil is one of the best things since rock. He highlights the real talent and the fake talent. Not saying fake talent is bad - it’s all about the show. Even Celine does it and regarded as one of the top vocalist of the best vocalist out there. The point is don’t try to pretend because when you get caught doing it and then lying about it, your shpunk is gone. Oh, and again, get rendition Fil - the whole band.
